  1. Agree. No ill will wished, just that MC had four years in Eugene to figure out that he had limitations when it came to offensive scheme and in-game decision making. If he can learn that if something doesn't move with a lot of force, and that using more force may not be the best strategy, he may be a successful head coach in Miami. My money isn't on that possibility, and I'm glad that he took his philosophy of iron vs iron until something fails or breaks is 3000 miles away.
  2. Amen to that. To see what we are now missing you only have to search: Offense/absent/Hurricanes/Miami
  3. Woof, careful what you wish for. For Lanning's first year I'd be thrilled with a Pac12 championship win over an entitled, sniveling, transfer portal dependent U$C, then a Rose Bowl win over another overrated BIG team like Penn St. or Michigan. Let tOSU get eviscerated by Georgia in the CFP as a prelude to burying whatever SEC team is anointed by Paul Finebaum to challenge them in the Natty. Not that Oregon should shy away from another shot at the Dawgs, but I don't see that Georgia freight train being derailed by anyone this year. Oregon's time will come.
  4. I wouldn't be too critical of the ILB corps just yet. The Georgia game was a comprehensive arse-whuppin by the best team in the nation and still our LBs kept the run under control, but got killed by the pass. They didn't need to bring their best game against a middling EW team. Once we got up on BYU, with their run game struggling, the nickel and dime packages kept Sewell off the field more than if the game had been tight. Flowe was not 100% and wasn't needed since the backups were playing well and the Cougars had to rely on the passing game to try and catch up. Funa actually had a good game, setting the edge and playing sound fundamentally. The time for the LBs to shine will come.
  5. Special teams have been dismal for the U. Several dropped passes. Sclerotic offense with too predictable play calling. Sound familiar to anyone on the OBDF? The defense has kept it close, but what a waste of offensive talent.
  6. Gotta root for the PAC, even the Fuskies. Wazzu against Wisconsin was fun to watch. I do so enjoy a BIG whack to the huevos. Then again U$C can go to he-double-.
  7. Blessed to watch this game from about the 50 yd line 20 rows up. Oregon outschemed and out toughed BYU. A lot more misdirection on offense, and use of Herbert as an H back worked almost every time it was used. Bo played a great game. Good touch on the ball, no bad decisions, ran the offense well, and he was a leader. I think it also put to rest some of the 'play Ty Thompson' shouting. It was a real disservice to have him try that lateral pass on his 1st down from scrimmage. They should have let him run the offense. He seemed uncertain after that. Defense played great. I counted one missed tackle. They threw it at Gonzales once and then hardly ever came his way after that. Bridges had a rough game. I wouldn't be surprised to see Manning play more in the future. No Justin Flowe even though he was suited up, and even Sewell was used sparingly given all the nickel and dime packages. Not many sacks, but a lot of BYU's failures on 3rd and 4th downs were coverage victories for the D. Bassa had a game and I'm looking forward to watching the replay to see who else stood out. DL will say that the team will 'go to the doctor' to fix what went wrong, but this win was one of the most enjoyable I've seen at Autzen in years and it was just what the doctor ordered
  8. I see the link for a second or two, then poof, gone like my brother-in-law when the restaurant check comes. Pennsylvania Duck's posts drop out the most. At least I know now it's not just me. Samsung S10e smarty pants phone running Android 12
  9. Quite possibly true, but Nix has to play within his skill set without boneheaded mistakes. He got away with at least one sure pick turned TD against EW. There won't be that luxury against BYU. The defense has to show up in a big way. Stellar play from Flowe and Sewell, particularly in the short passing game and pressure from Dorlus and Funa et al to hurry the BYU QB's reads and throws. No converted 3rd and 12s. More man coverage as the Oregon DBs will be challenged by the BYU WRs, but should be able to match up athletically. It'll have to be a better game than they have played up to now, but I think DL and crew will have them ready as there is plenty of tape on BYU to analyze. Go Dux!
  10. Neuter Dam* and Ta$m both go down at home to FCS or lower tier teams. Be still my beating heart.
  11. Field switched. Now Texas 19-17 but Bama in FG range with 0:35 left. Regardless, Georgia the new #1 and it takes a tiny amount of sting out of last week.
  12. Texas now in FG range, 1:30 left on clock, down 17-16 to Bama
  13. As a comparison to the air quality after the Holiday Farm fire in 2020. That was about as bad as it could get without sticking your face into a campfire. So 110-150 ppm counts ain't great and 95°F at game time won't help, but the game will almost certainly be played, with minimal risk for players and fans. Go Ducks!
  14. As DC for the Bulldogs, Lanning drew up game plans against Nix and Auburn at least twice. He knows every weakness and tendency of his current starting QB and elected to start him against his former team (and HC) Saturday over the two younger QBs. While not quite a catastrophe, as the whuppin' at the hands of Georgia was a team effort, Nix exhibited his known flaws. If DL and the coaching staff opt to stick with him, then there is a lack of game time confidence in TT and Butters that may not change as the season rolls forward.
  15. I see this in part as a response to not only media $$$ but also NIL payouts favoring those same Power 2 programs (I hesitate to say schools, as college football may no longer include the word 'college') and the CFP committee not wanting to lose total control over the process. Out of favor conferences like the ACC, Big12, Pac(?#) and the mid-majors will at least have a fighting chance of landing at least one team in the CFP. Alabama may have clobbered Cincinnati in the semis, but at least they made it there and it was worth watching to see if David could win over Goliath. Whether Oregon scoots to the BIG or stays to lead a revamped PAC, this can't hurt.
  16. And they appear to have my demographic pegged. Time for another PSA and digital heinie probe.
  17. Yikes Charles, these ads are getting a bit personal and persistent!
  18. Or he'll be distracted by thoughts of weeding dandelions, moving furniture around, hanging curtains, which dishes go where and remembering to put the toilet seat down. Then again, the game might be a blissful respite from regular Saturday domestic life.
  19. I'd prefer 12-0, but if we have to drop a game it might as well be to the reigning national champions that so graciously supplied us with a new head coach.
  20. And the bonus is that Miami ends the season unranked, tho he does say that MC will build a winner in time.
  21. Jalen Camp, Johnny Johnson III shine in Texans preseason win WWW.HOUSTONTEXANS.COM Young receivers Jalen Camp and Johnny Johnson III each caught touchdown passes in Saturday... JJlll still hanging on with the Texans. Royce Freeman mentioned as well and may end up as the #2 RB for Houston.

  23. Sorry to see Breeze get cut. Not surprised to see the others on the list. Glad to see that VMlll, ABrown and DAllen are still in the hunt.
