Georgia QB JT Daniels Enters the Transfer Portal
Bennett is returning to UGA for a final year. He's really not NFL material but he sure runs their offense well, so that makes sense. Can't see them getting Williams, then benching the kid that helped them win the NC and is a true underdog hero. JT Daniels is just looking for greener pastures.

A Calming of the Storm between Arizona and Oregon
Absolutely throwing shade at KG. It could have been "quit bit**'n about the calls, coach". Who knows, but I find it a little tough to believe that Graves would throw that kind of verbiage at an opponent's woman coach while coaching his own players, particularly women like Sedona Prince who are outspoken on the sexism issues in college sports.

A Primer: Defensive Differences Lanning Brings to the Ducks
Is there a defensive player at any level, high school to the pros, that doesn't love to pin their ears back and go after it with stunts, blitzes and misdirection? Oregon’s current roster (Sewell, Flowe, Bassa Dorlus, Popo, et all) seems very well suited to the defense that Coach Lanning seems to be bringing here. Thanks to Eric Boles for laying out the probable Xs and Os of that defense.

What's your Favorite Football Movie?
Not a football movie, but a great football scene: MASH The 4077th vs 325th Evac game The original "Big Ben" Davidson in a bit part. Fred Williamson as Oliver Wendell "Spearchucker" Jones, a pro ringer neurosurgeon with the 4077th coaching Donald Sutherland, Elliot Gould and Tom Skerritt and running all over the 325th defense. It had it all, trick plays, trash talking ("you're f'n head's coming right off!") and smoking weed on the sidelines. Totally un-PC by today's standard, but as funny as it got to a kid of the 60's

ESPN: Bo Nix is a Top Instant Impact Newcomer?
I don't have the same ESPN college stats for Joe Burrow, but he languished at tOSU bthen transferred to LSU and had a ~132 qb rating the year before he led them to a National Championship with a 212 rating. Not yet saying Nix is the next Burrow, but the kid was a 5☆ and sometimes it's the right system, fit and people that believe in you

BREAKING: Travis Dye Enters Transfer Portal
Bit of a head scratcher this one. Staying in the draft till the last second, sure, but going elsewhere for a final season? I can't imagine that the new offensive scheme under Dillingham wouldn't use Dye's skill set. Maybe it is a problem with the new RB coach.

Whew! Greg McElroy Takes Offense to Thibs Alabama Remarks
We all knew this was coming. My guess is that KT will walk those original comments back. Too many ex-Bama players in NFL locker rooms for him not to.

One Thing Stetson Bennett Said,
Just because there are obstacles to overcome doesn't mean that you are being oppressed. Nearly every individual that attains success failed multiple times during that process. Winners and true leaders know what it's like to lose and learn to not repeat those mistakes.

Thibodeaux: Why Oregon Set Him up for Life
I love me some KT, but all he did with this little faux pas was invite some 340lb All-Pro former Alabama OT to pancake him, then stand over him and say, "Welcome to the League, Einstein"

Why Georgia's Win was Huge for Oregon? Recruiting!
Back in the Chip Kelly Era I don't recall seeing Nick Alioti much on ESPN except a brief shot or two in the coaches box. Everything was about Chip's go-go uptempo offense. The story and theater in the Alabama-Georgia match up was Saban and Kirby, master vs former pupil. I didn't see it as Lanning becoming suddenly invisible because he was going to leave SEC country on a flight to Eugene the next morning. DL going to coach Oregon was mentioned a few times.

Justin Herbert NFL Career to Date
That 4th down laser beam JH threw to Williams in the middle of the end zone, running to his left to escape another Raider DL who had beaten their block was a superhuman thing of beauty. Too many other well targeted drops by LAC receivers didn't help.

Justin Herbert NFL Career to Date
I'm going to take the contrarian view that Staley is a good coach, just needs more time as a game general. Collinsworth showed a schematic last night of Staley's success rate on 4th down attempts that supported being aggressive. He just needs to use it less like a gunslinger and more like sniper. And yes, JH makes Staley look better than he is now, but I say give this another year.
-
The NFL Will Never Admit That . . .
Agree with much of the above about the OT rules and Staley's being boneheaded (in a MC kind of way about winning the battle in the trenches to the exclusion of smart play) about 4th down risk taking and clock management. The LAC line was strong before RT Bulaga had a season ending injury. His replacement Storm Norton got his lunch stolen by Raider DE Crosby all game, letting him live in Justin's facemask. In spite of that, what Herbie did was nothing short of miraculous in that 4th quarter. Helluva exciting game.in spite of the outcome

Just got it off the Heavenly Hosts Sportsbook, take the Dawgs to win and bet the under.

Christian Gonzalez Transfers to UO
Gonzales is a Bennett Williams type of DB/safety, tall and rangy kid that can play all over the field. He will be a great fit in Lanning's defense. Love or hate the transfer portal and what it represents, this is a great get for the Ducks

Lanning Hunting - 330 lb. Defensive Tackle from UW-Transfers to Oregon!
Oregon may not have recruited as well in Washington the last few years as they could, but this is a good get.

3* and Rising DB gets Offer from Oregon
Marcus Mariota and Justin Herbert both 3☆s.

Surprise! Surprise! Cristobal Hiring McClendon as Offensive Coordinator
I think we could be a bit more charitable here. BMcC and Morehead took the handcuffs off the passing game in the 2nd half and it was the most exciting offense we've seen in weeks.

Surprise! Surprise! Cristobal Hiring McClendon as Offensive Coordinator
May not be many following him to Miami. How many Duck players so far have followed MC, Mirabal, and now BMcC et al there? Recruits, a few for sure, but players entering the portal? It seems to me the WR room has already emptied out, the ones leaving either from graduation (Redd, JJIII) NFL aspirations (DevWill) or transfer (MPitt).

Is Caleb Williams a Sure Thing for USC?
As much as I admire AB for his leadership, team perspective, toughness and occasional flashes of brilliance (tOSU game in particular), his problems with accuracy and throwing mechanics won't make the grade for the pro game. I agree that the choice to start him the entire season over the other 4 and 5☆ QBs says something about the development of those younger players and partly precipitated the transfer of Bo Nix. Williams coming here is a real long shot. I see it as USC>OU>Georgia

Georgia AND Oregon: Lanning's Weekend Didn't Suck
So we swap DB coaches with Colorado and get get a top 10 DB recruit thrown in. Sweet! This young man appears to be a leader and field general to boot.

I've Been Busting AB's Chops All Year...
As much as I appreciate AB's maturity, running ability and gritty final performance in the Alamo Bowl, I sure won't miss those jai alai windmill throwing mechanics.

Lanning Closing In on a Running Backs Coach...
They should have this guy in the weight room too. You could fit two A. Felds in his shirt

Even a Bad Bo is a Good Sign For our Ducks!
First post for me here. I've been a Eugene resident and Duck fan since 1987. Also paid the UO lots of coin to educate two kids. I appreciate the Fishduck forum and the articles that have been published over the years. Two things strike me about the Bo Nix transfer. His relationship with the new OC and experience may not quite rank up there with Joe Burrow to LSU, and his metrics may look only so-so on the surface, but he has won some big games and the potential is certainly there. Second, the last two times Oregon had freshman/redshirt freshman QBs waiting in the wings that were elevated to the starting job, they were identified early. The first precipitated the exit of a QB that took the Ducks to the National Championship game and the first Rose Bowl victory in decades, then went on to another Championship final, a Heisman trophy and a top 2 NFL draft pick. The second got thrown to the lions and took over a rebuilding team, ultimately won a Rose Bowl, got drafted high in the first round and became the NFL offensive ROTY. My impression is that the young 4/5☆ QBs aren't of the same caliber and the new coaching staff knows that. Maybe they hope the competition will drive one to emerge as the next great Oregon QB. Overall I see it as a smart move.
