We help ourselves most of all.

I’m always a bit leery of reading too much into a brief moment such as captured by a photo, especially for emotions. Faces move through many expressions in a short period of time and not all of them reflect a longer term emotional state. A good example is a photo said to be showing Lanning snarling. Seeing the video where Lanning made this face makes me wonder if Lanning had a runny noise and was trying to clear it

One thing I noticed about the Ducks this year is that they are having fun and Lanning made that a point of emphasis. He used fun to build confidence, connection, and camaraderie. He is serious about football but realizes that it has to be fun too.

Effects of Saturday's game? Who knows?
I have to think Oregon’s success and how they achieved this success is starting to change recruit’s thinking. This last game showed both top notch coaching and execution by players.

Nonsense. The PAC-12 officials aren’t competent enough to pull this off. Just clickbait whining by a partisan USC website that reflects the deep sense of entitlement of many USC fans.

In many ways this is Justin Flowes rookie year.

Whenever Oregon has this level of success fans start worrying about losing coaches. I just watched one of the best coached and played games I’ve seen at Oregon since Chip Kelley was here and I’m going to enjoy this transient moment of (near) perfection. Losing good coaches is part of the game just as much as losing good players after three years. I’m not going to worry or post about it. Takes away the joy.

Remember how terrified we'd all be under Mario trying to see out a game with a lead?
Clock management was superb as was the mixture of aggressiveness and play-it-safe in the play calling. One of the best Oregon efforts since Chip was coach.

Additionally... the refs had a baffling call that a time out occurred in the middle of a play that benefited USC. So there were some bad calls on both sides.
There was one personal foul against USC during the last interception that was not called. There was very likely a targeting call in the last few minutes against USC. The refs swallowed their whistles at the end of the game.

Ann Arbor is a toilet without a flush handle.
What a great article. I’m a scale of 1 to 10 it’s a decuple+.

With the money from the 12 team national championship Oregon will do well to stay. No way will they get a full cut if they move. Better culture match. Better travel for students. Less already entrenched competition. I’ll miss Oregon beating media darlings and arrogant USC but that is the only downside to staying. Without USC administration backstabbing the PAC-10 the conference will be stronger.

I still don't think he was taunting during the Stanford game. To me it looked like he was trying to find a ref to toss the ball to, and when he finally did, the Stanford player inadvertently walked right into it. I don't hold that one against him at all...
I agree. That is what I saw. I think Lanning saw it that way, also, given how he responded with reassurance not anger.

Lanning is probably the best new first-time head coach in FBS.
I wonder how much of this is the behind the scenes support Oregon gives their coaches. Look at all the coaches who have struggled after leaving Oregon.

I really liked the thumb's-up gesture Troy Franklin gave to Bo (I assume) immediately after rising from that 1st down catch over the middle. It was the opposite (imo) of a gesture of self-congratulation. It was like he was signaling to Nix "nice throw! We're moving the chains".
I agree. Good teamwork and camaraderie. Much better than showboating. You can bet Nix appreciated it, and that it built trust.

Curious what the SP+ says. It is much more accurate.

Going to be a good game. We held Arizona, which had a highly rated passing game, to well below their average. I've also felt that Utah wasn't as strong as they were made to be (lot like USC) and the UCLA game proved that. I'm glad our matchup is at Autzen. I do think UCLA is better than WSU.

"The 12th-ranked Ducks (4-1, 2-0 Pac-12) have a 78.2% chance of winning, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index. Bill Connelly’s SP+ has the Ducks winning 42-19 and gives them a 90% chance of leaving Tucson with the win."
I’m curious what the SP+ will say about Oregon-UCLA. ESPN’s index seems to underestimate Oregon.

Not unexpected. I guess we’ll see what the streamers have to offer.

His team has been exhibiting disciplinary issues which have actually accelerated of late.
I’m wondering if this is a sign that (the dreaded) complacency starting to “infect” the players.
That caveat aside, solid A. Handled the leap from associate to head coach beautifully.

I watched WSU last weekend and they were a shell of the team Oregon played the previous week. I think Oregon broke them.
I hope not permanently. I like this WSU team.
