  1. New co-DC Chris Hampton reflects on joining Ducks, settling in at Oregon Dan Lanning added Chris Hampton to join the flock back in January to be Oregon's co-defensive coordinator with Tosh Lupoi while also replacing Matt Powledge in coaching the safeties. Before arriving in Eugene, Hampton led Tulane’s defense for two seasons -- contributing to the Green Wave's breakout 12-2 finish and Cotton Bowl win over USC last season. Lanning has shown a confident willingness to invest and trust in up-and-coming coaches, which Hampton qualifies as after working his way up the ranks as a DBs coach at Central Arkansas, McNeese State, Tulane, Duke and then the coordinator opportunity with the Green Wave. He was a four-year letterman and two-year starter as a safety at South Carolina from 2004-07. So it's easy to see why Hampton caught Lanning's eye, just as it's clear to understand why Hampton jumped at the chance to join the Ducks. 2. Four-Star LB Brayden Platt Names Top Eight Dan Lanning has definitely prioritized linebackers in this recruiting cycle. One of which is Yelm (Wash.) linebacker Brayden Platt. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder is the nation’s No. 225 ranked player in the On3 Industry Rankings. Platt is the No. 4 ranked player from the state of Washington. On Tuesday he dropped his top eight which included Oregon. Surprisingly it did not include Washington. Currently Oregon leads the On3 RPM just slightly at 23%. USC is just behind the Ducks with 20% chance to land the four-star. 3. This podcast was just made this afternoon and it is about an hour long with Bo Nix. He talks about lots of things, starting with playing the Ducks while he was at Auburn...Below is the write-up for the podcast. Oregon QB Bo Nix joins the show! We talk about how Spring Ball has gone to this point. How he's adjusting to his 5th Offensive Coordinator in 5 years. We look back to his first college start vs Oregon and how Auburn had one of the worst days of travel in CFB. Bo talks about his High School days and finishing his last 2 seasons with a 28-1 record and back to back state championships. Fun trivia question, who was the one starting QB to take down Bo in his last 2 seasons? He also explains why HS was also the hardest he's been coached because his HS head coach was his Dad. We talk about Bo choosing Auburn out of HS and how his first 3 seasons went and what led him to leaving Auburn and how he ended up choosing Oregon. Bo tells us what it's like playing next to the best RB in the Pac-12 and how they help each other be better throughout the course of practice or a game. Bo also talks about the relationship he's had with his, now former center, Alex Forsyth and how they would team up to audible to touchdown plays. To wrap up the episode we had our power rankings segment and in honor of having a QB on, we rank our top 3 WR/TEs that we would want to throw to All-Time. Finally for Duck trivia, Bo Nix finished last season with 3,500 passing yards and 500 rushing yards. Who are the other 3 QBs in Oregon history to surpass these marks in a single season? I am not familiar with this podcast. From Google, I learned the hosts are Brad Yaffe, Nate Heaukulani, and Ryan Walk. This is a long podcast but I learned a lot about Nix and he had some interesting stories to tell. Hope you enjoy it too.

  5. Twitter Reaction: Duck fans react to N'Faly Dante's decision to return to Oregon for 2023 season While things have been relatively quiet on the transfer front for Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks, the team received some of the best news that they could have hoped for on Monday morning. Veteran center N’Faly Dante announced that he would be returning to the team for at least one more season in Eugene with the Ducks. After having a career year in 2022, averaging 13.4 points per game and 8.4 rebounds, it became clear that Dante was not only the best player on the team, but arguably the best center that the Ducks have had under Dana Altman. With Dante’s announced return, the roster is shaping up for the 2023 season in Eugene. There are now seven guys who we have confirmed to be in Eugene, and a handful of others, both returners and potential transfers, who could fill out the roster. The bit of good news sparked some joy online from Duck fans. Here are some of the reactions. 8. Oregon forward Quincy Guerrier announces his intentions for next season Oregon senior forward Quincy Guerrier has an extra year of eligibility and has made his decision on what he'll be doing with the year. The 6-foot-8 forward from Montreal in Canada announced on Tuesday that he intends to enter the Transfer Portal. Guerrier arrived at Oregon ahead of the 2021-22 season after playing his first two seasons of college basketball at Syracuse. Guerrier picked Syracuse over Oregon and other schools out of high school. At Oregon, he was one of Oregon's most durable players over the last two years. He played in and started all 35 games for Oregon as a junior in 2021-22 and then played in all 36 games for Oregon this past season, and he started 22 of those games. This year at Oregon Guerrier averaged 9.0 points, and 4.6 rebounds, and he played 25.8 minutes per game. He shot 42.3 percent on field goals and 34.7 percent on 3-pointers. Guerrier made just 58.1 percent of his free throws this past season. Guerrier was removed from Oregon's starting lineup in the month of February as Dana Altman said the Ducks needed to make a change. 13. The NCAA lifted the limit on the number of schools recruits can take official visits and while the change could prove advantageous to Oregon, the schools are still limited in how many recruits they can host on the expense paid trips. The NCAA Division I Council announced it approved lifting the limit on official visits recruits can take — currently five — though they can still only take an official visit once per school, unless there is a head coaching change after the player’s first visit, in which case they can take a second. The change is effective July 1. What didn’t change though — at least not yet — are the limits each team has on the number of official visits its can provide in a year, which is 56 in the case of football. 14. Top rated transfer portal prospect Gary Bryant locks in commitment date Former USC wide out Gary Bryant, the No. 1 rated prospect per 247Sports Transfer Portal Rankings has set a commitment date. Bryant will announce on May 13 at a family gathering in Riverside, California. He named a final five of Arizona, Miami, Oregon, Texas A&M and UCLA but the main two that we're hearing are pushing hardest right now are the Ducks and Aggies. “I have a great relationship with coach (Junior) Adams (WR coach) and took an official visit to Washington in high school too because of him. He’s a great guy and a great coach. He hit me up right away when I was in the portal and just kind of said, ‘let’s do this, get over here.’ It’s all love over there and I know he’s someone that can push me and help me get to the next level.” He's a player we've always liked a lot and feel he has the talent to be an immediate impact player wherever he winds up. He's an ideal slot receiver that you can move around and he's very good in the punt/kick return game as well. He's an explosive route runner and very good with the ball in his hands. He can stretch the field and get deep and has always been very natural as a pass catcher.
