Oregon is losing a member of its 2022 recruiting class. Cornerback Jalil Tucker, who made one tackle in one game while redshirting last season, announced he’ll be entering the transfer portal Saturday afternoon, the first day of the spring transfer window. Tucker missed Oregon’s fifth spring practice a week ago but returned on Tuesday and was with the No. 3 defense on Thursday. A four-star prospect out of San Diego, Tucker was ranked No. 145 overall and the No. 17 cornerback in the 2022 recruiting class. He’s the first high school signee from that class to transfer from the program. Tucker’s departure leaves UO with 88 projected scholarship players for the fall, including 11 cornerbacks. Oregon Ducks inside linebacker Keith Brown to enter transfer portal Oregon’s first transfer departure of the spring is from the defense. Inside linebacker Keith Brown announced he will enter his name in the transfer portal Saturday afternoon, the first day of the spring transfer window. The top-ranked player in the state out of Lebanon in 2021, Brown has two years of eligibility remaining. Brown had 21 tackles with a sack last season, closing the year with seven tackles in the Holiday Bowl when he started in place of Noah Sewell, who opted out to enter the NFL draft. Brown had 15 tackles in seven games as a freshman in 2021. His departure leaves UO with 90 projected scholarship players for the fall, including seven inside linebackers. The Ducks added fifth-year juniors Jestin Jacobs (Iowa) and Connor Soelle (Arizona State) at linebacker this winter and moved safety Jamal Hill down as well after losing Sewell to the draft and Jackson LaDuke and Justin Flowe to transfer. Dan Lanning pleased with team's effort, physicality in first spring scrimmage Saturday's scrimmage placed the team inside Autzen Stadium for the first time this spring and also brought the first day of to-the-ground tackling. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning was pleased with the day's work, which was closed to media, but noted that he'd need to review the scrimmage film before properly critiquing the performance as a whole. "It was good to get get the guys out there see them compete," Lanning said moments after leaving the stadium's gates. "It was the first time that we've been live this spring — tackle to the ground. Guys did a great job handling that and did also good job protecting their teammates... Altogether, a good competitive day." According to Lanning the defense controlled things early before the offense was able to connect on a few explosive pass plays. The offense punched in a few red zone trips too. Traeshon Holden was the recipient of one of the deep shots, while Lanning stated that Kris Hutson scored on a pass closer to the end zone. Oregon to be without key offensive starter 'for a while' as spring game looms Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson is being shut down for the rest of the spring. Ducks head coach Dan Lanning met with reporters Saturday after the team’s first scrimmage of spring ball and revealed the news. Lanning did not specify what the injury was and it’s unclear if Oregon expects Ferguson to miss any serious time after spring ball concludes. “He’s going to be down for a while for us,” Lanning said. “We’re just going to be precautionary there with him and hold him out for the rest of spring.” The Littleton, Colorado, native appeared in all 13 games as a true sophomore last year while making six starts. He finished fourth on the team in both receptions (32) and yards (391). Ferguson also hauled in five touchdowns, a mark that ranked third among Pac-12 tight ends when the season came to a close.
