The storylines to know for Oregon heading into the NIT Oregon was awarded a No. 1 seed in the tournament and will get to play at home for the first three rounds of the tournament should they win games. The NIT selection committee certainly raised a few eyebrows when they released Oregon's first-round opponent UC Irvine out of the Big West. The regular-season co-champion Anteaters are a very respectable program out west at the low-major level, and this season they made waves in college basketball during the first week of the season by blowout out the Oregon Ducks on Oregon's own home floor. "We got beat in every facet of the game. Hustle, Toughness. We had a number of practices that resembled that," said Oregon head coach Dana Altman after the loss back in November. Here are some notes heading into Oregon's first-round matchup against UC Irvine of the Big West Conference. College Football Teams Having the Most Success on the 2024 Recruiting Trail While most of these teams are currently in the 247Sports composite's top 10, they all aren't. For instance, Texas Tech is currently ranked sixth nationally, but that's a little bit of fool's gold. The Red Raiders have just one 4-star prospect, and the rest are 3-stars. So, even though you're sick of hearing about Alabama, the Crimson Tide sneaked in over coach Joey McGuire's team because of quality over quantity. The rest of the teams in those rankings have a healthy dosage of 4-star commits. Many of the programs at the top have consistent recruiting success, but there are some off to better starts than they have in recent memory, too. Here are the teams doing the best job extremely early in the '24 recruiting cycle. Oregon Spring Preview: Ducks Searching for New No. 2 Wide Receiver Troy Franklin is a Biletnikoff caliber wideout but the team needs someone to step up after Chase Cota's departure. Franklin may have the makings of a first-round NFL Draft pick. but there's far less certainty behind him. Add to that that five wide receivers either transferred or graduated and you're looking at a very different room. Dont'e Thornton (Tennessee) and Seven McGee (Jackson State) both found new homes. Chase Cota graduated and both Isaah Crocker and Isaiah Brevard entered the transfer portal. Let's take a look at where the wide receiver room stands heading into spring practice next week. Pac-12 Oregon's Coverage of Men's Basketball

Oregon projected for a top seed in the NIT The Oregon Duck men's basketball program is hoping to see their 2022-23 season get extended. The hope going into this week was to win its way into the NCAA Tournament but is now looking likely that they'll be selected for the NIT instead. At 19-13 overall, the Ducks didn't do enough damage in Las Vegas at the Pac-12 Tournament to feel good about an at-large chance. But while the big dance is likely off the table, a deep run into the NIT is a possibility. The website The Barking Crow, one of the top NIT projection websites in the space, currently projects the Ducks as a No. 2 seed in their most recent up-to-date projections. Ducks drop game three in blowout fashion; lose first Pac-12 series to No. 16 UCLA Sunday marked an opportunity for Oregon to pick up an early-season series win against a ranked opponent in No. 16 UCLA. Instead, it was the Bruins who came out like the unranked team and never looked back, walloping the Ducks 16-0 and taking the final two games of the series with a combined score of 22-7. With freshman Jackson Pace getting the start, the game had a rather ominous beginning, as the first pitch was hammered to left-center field by Cody Scrier for a double. From there, Oregon’s winning outlook would continue to deteriorate as UCLA added four runs in the first inning. JonJon Vaughns, who’s been a thorn in Oregon’s side this series, lofted a fly ball to left where Tanner Smith severely misplayed the ball, allowing for a bases-clearing double with two outs. “That was a big play, wasn’t it?” said Wasikowski after the game. “Getting out of the first inning, giving up one run, and then missing a routine flyball and it turning into a big inning, it was a big deal. I thought we lost some counts and some other things, but at the end of the day, we didn’t prepare our club well to play today. And that’s our fault.” Ducks drop game three in blowout fashion; lose first Pac-12 series to No. 16 UCLA 247SPORTS.COM Sunday marked an opportunity for Oregon to pick up an early-season series win against a ranked opponent in No. 16... Ducks drop series to UCLA Oregon fell behind early and then could not muster any offense to come back in a 16-0 loss to No. 13 UCLA in a Pac-12 Conference game on Sunday at PK Park. UCLA (12-3, 2-1 Pac-12) picked up the series victory with back-to-back wins after Oregon (9-5, 1-2 Pac-12) won the series opener on Friday. Oregon starter Jackson Pace lasted just 1.1 innings, allowing eight runs (7 earned) on four hits with three walks. UCLA added five more in the fifth and two in the ninth to wrap up the scoring. Oregon was held to three hits. Rikuu Nishida broke up Kelly Austin's no-hit bid in the fourth with a leadoff double. Jacob Walsh added two hits, a double in the fifth and a single in the seventh. Waking up on the day that you’re getting set to play in the 6A State Championship is already special enough. When you have one of your idols give you a wake up call, though, that makes it quite memorable. That’s what happened for Oregon Ducks 2023 signee Jackson Shelstad, the star player for West Linn. According to reports, Shelstad was greeted by Oregon legend Payton Pritchard, who won 4 state championships during his time at West Linn, and had an incredible career with the Ducks as well. Pritchard, who is very close with West Linn PG Jackson Shelstad and a WL alum, flew in and surprised Shelstad yesterday by waking him up in his room. Pritchard is now a prized role player for the Boston Celtics. This is a fun story to enjoy...
