  1. How Christian Gonzalez compares to other top-rated CBs following NFL Combine The NFL Combine is now behind us, which means that draft talk is going to start to really ramp up more than it already had over the next couple of weeks as we speed toward the month of April and, ultimately, the big day. While we still have a long list of pro days to come at the top schools around the nation, offering players a chance to work out and show prospective NFL teams what they have to offer, the combine gave us a good early look at some of the best players in this year’s draft class. How does Gonzalez stack up with the rest of the cornerbacks in the class though, and where does his NFL Combine grade fall after all is said and done? Pro Ducks: How Christian Gonzalez stacks up after NFL Combine DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Christian Gonzalez got a “Year 1 Starter” grade at the NFL Combine. How does that compare to the rest of the CB class in 2023?
  2. Oregon women see NCAA Tournament odds diminished by upsets The last 24 hours have not not kind to Oregon's at-large hopes. Play in the AAC and WCC conference tournaments did not go there way, with South Florida and Gonzaga each failing to punch automatic tickets. Both schools have strong enough resumes to earn at-large bids, thereby making the margin smaller for bubble teams. Because of these upsets, the Ducks have fallen to the third team outside of ESPN's NCAA Tournament bracket projections. 3. Redshirt Review: Justius Lowe What he brings to the table — He has some pop to his game. A track athlete first, Lowe has speed to run away from people and the ability to make players in space miss too. He's also shown the ability to make the difficult catch. What he might be lacking — Listed at just 182 pounds as a frosh, Lowe does not resemble a fully-developed collegiate wide receiver. Time spent retooling his body will be necessary to get him prepared to play at this level. A relatively raw prospect with only a few years of playing experience, Lowe will need more time than others shore up his technique as both a route runner and receiver, as well as a blocker. 4. Oregon hits Vegas hoping to stay a while as they search for wins "It's just going to be a tough road. We've got some good teams in the league this year, we ahve a couple that are underrated as far as national perception is concerned," said head coach Dana Altman. Oregon's quarterfinal opponent hasn't been set but that'll be decided Wednesday afternoon when No. 5 seed Washington State and No. 12 seed California play for the chance at the Ducks. "You get yourself ready," Altman said of the challenge of preparing for a game without knowing the opponent. "We've got both teams scouted. We've played both of them recently. So we have some pretty good scouting on both of them. It's not much different when you've played both teams twice." This year the Ducks went a combined 3-1 against the Cougars and Golden Bears. The lone loss was by three points on the road in February to Washington State. 5. A review of the 2021 Hawai’i season with Terry as OL coach New Oregon OL coach Terry rejoins the Ducks after spending two years as a graduate assistant in Eugene working with the offensive line in 2019 and 2020. In 2021 he accepted his first on-field coaching job as the OL coach at Hawai’i in what turned out to be head coach Todd Graham’s last year with the program. Terry worked as an assistant defensive line coach with the Minnesota Vikings in 2022. I found myself agreeing with several writers and fans of the program that the offensive line was probably the best part of the offense, and while I can’t speak to whether Terry sheltered his players from those cultural problems, the film is very clear that the line was performing at a higher level than the rest of the squad. 7. I just posted a John Canzano podcast where he interviews Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle about his recent piece on the world of NIL and Oregon Ducks signee Jurrion Dickey. Especially for those of you who were unable to get into the site above, you will be able to get an idea of what the article is about. The conversation is lively in the typical Canzano style. 9. 5-star center Kel'el Ware not selected for Pac-12 All-Freshman Team It would have been nearly inconceivable to predict that Oregon Ducks center Kel’el Ware wouldn’t make the Pac-12 All-Freshman team at the beginning of the season. Ware was a 5-star prospect and one of the highest rated recruits in Oregon history, a testament to the strength of Dana Altman’s recruiting to pull this young man from Arkansas and bring him all the way to Eugene. Mock drafts often had Ware as a lottery pick – and while he’s still featured in a handful of places the majority believe he is a strong candidate to return to college after a disappointing freshman season that saw him only make four starts and average just 16 minutes per game. 5-star center Kel’el Ware not selected for Pac-12 All-Freshman Team DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Despite having very high expectations coming into the year, Oregon Ducks center Kel’el Ware was absent from the Pac-12 All...
  10. More coaching changes seem to be taking place with the Oregon Ducks, with another key member of the offensive staff moving on to a higher position elsewhere in the industry. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, offensive analyst Jordan Somerville is expected to leave Eugene and take over as the assistant quarterbacks coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the NFL level. Somerville had spent one season with the Ducks after working as the RB coach and recruiting coordinator for New Mexico. Oregon Football: Jordan Somerville to leave for Tampa Bay Buccaneers DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM A new report shows that Oregon offensive analyst Jordan Somerville will take a job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  11. Oregon Target Bronny James Named Five-Star By On3 While this season certainly hasn't been one to write home about, fans can be excited about what the future holds for the Ducks, as they currently hold the nation's No. 8 recruiting class for 2023. Montverde Academy forward Kwame Evans Jr. headlines the group as a top-15 recruit nationally and he's joined by Chandler (Ariz.) Compass Prep small forward and Portland native Mookie Cook as well in-state point guard Jackson Shelstad from West Linn (Ore.). 2023 Chatsworth (Calif.) 14. Oregon Spring Game Visitor List Taking Shape Last year, Oregon hosted a huge recruiting weekend during its Spring Game. Visitors included eventual Oregon signees Jurrion Dickey, Rodrick Pleasant, Cole Martin and Blake Purchase, as well as such high-end targets as 5-stars David Hicks and Johntay Cook. In Dan Lanning’s second season, the 2023 visitors’ list already figures to top last year’s. Two 5-star and top 5 recruits nationally already have scheduled visits for April 29. On3’s No. 1 player in the country, edge Dylan Stewart, recently told Hayes Fawcett that his visits include a trip to Oregon’s spring game. Stewart will see a handful of other schools this spring, including Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama and Michigan. 16. Chance Gray’s familial guidance has helped her navigate Oregon women’s up-and-down season Gray has played and started in every game this season for the Ducks. She is averaging 10.7 points per game, 2.4 assists and 0.8 steals. Part of Gray’s maturity comes from the fact that her family is not new to navigating the collegiate sports scene. Her father Carlton Gray played college football for UCLA and was drafted into the NFL where he played eight seasons. Her older sister Amber Gray played basketball at both the University of Tennessee and Xavier before playing professionally overseas. Both coached her during her last season at Winton Woods High School. “They’ve taught me the work ethic and what it takes to be successful at these different levels, so I’m very thankful to have people like them in my corner,” she said. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.” Read more about Chance Gray in the article at the Daily Emerald...
  17. If this is it for N'Faly Dante at Oregon, then what's next? In a college basketball world full of coming and going, N’Faly Dante has been one of the few Oregon basketball mainstays over the past four years. He originally came to Eugene in 2019, choosing to enroll with the Ducks instead of the usual powerhouses Kentucky, Kansas or Michigan State. According to 247Sports, Dante was ranked as the number one player from the state of Kansas, as well as being the No. 4 ranked center and No. 14 player in the class of 2020. Head coach Dana Altman recruited the Malian big man to be Oregon’s future at the center position, but his career got off to a complicated start. Read the N'Faly Dante story in the Daily Emerald...

  24. Oregon Spring Preview: Running Back Still an Embarrassment of Riches The Oregon Ducks are slated to begin spring practice on Thursday March 16 and today we're kicking off our spring preview. The first of ten position groups we'll take a look at is the running backs. Carlos Locklyn enters his second year coaching the backs in Eugene and and chasing the standard set by Gary Campbell. Overall, running back just might be the deepest position on the 2023 spring roster. The offensive line sees some turnover and will play a big role in how effective the backs are, but the Ducks return all of their major running back production from the 2022 season and have all the tools to lead the Pac-12 in rushing next year. Preview the 2023 Running Backs in the article found in Ducks Digest.
