Oregon RHP RJ Gordon out for 'a while'; Ducks pitching depth will continue to be tested Pitching depth was on full display during Oregon's four-game series sweep of Xavier, as the Ducks turned the ball over to nine true freshmen this past weekend. The results were excellent, allowing two earned runs in 23 innings of work. Jackson Pace, Sunday's starter, and Leo Uelmen, Saturday's starter, combined for 11 innings of work with one earned run and six strikeouts. 6. The college football rules committee is considering several ways to limit total plays in games for the 2023 season, which in turn lessens likelihood of injuries, according to Ross Dellenger. In an effort to keep games at a manageable pace, recommended rule changes include a running clock of sorts, that includes the game clock continuing to move after incomplete passes once the ball is spotted and first downs. Per SI, "high-ranking college football leaders" are considering an amendment to teams taking consecutive timeouts to ice kickers and no longer extending quarters with an untimed down situation following a defensive penalty. Faked or exaggerated injuries are a growing trend in college football, especially on defense used to combat tempo-driven offenses. The NCAA, however, will not add in-game penalties for players accused of faking injuries, but other post-game penalties could be assessed. The article includes details on above and more... 7. ESPN says Oregon's NCAA Tournament door is 'closing fast' after winless weekend The Ducks went on their Washington road trip this past week and ended up losing both games, falling to the Huskies and Cougars. Still, the Ducks own a 19-point win over Arizona and they’re borderline top 50 in the NET rankings. The door is open the tiniest bit but closing fast.” The fact that the worldwide leader is still holding onto the fact that Oregon has a win over Arizona and is top 50 in the NET rankings seems like false hope.
