  1. Dan Lanning Faces Critical Time at Quarterback So now Dan Lanning finds himself squarely in the second biggest decision of his young Oregon career. The first, in my opinion, was replacing Kenny Dillingham at offensive coordinator a few weeks ago. It’s no secret Lanning is a defensive-minded coach, so having a bright offensive mind was critical to his success. But now he’s at another crossroad. You want and need Bo Nix to come back. You also want and need to hold on to your top-ranked quarterback commit, Dante Moore. Lanning finds himself in an absolute dogfight with Chip Kelly and UCLA for Moore. 2. OREGON FINISHES HOMESTAND SUNDAY The Ducks are riding a four-game winning streak following an 88-38 win over Eastern Washington Thursday that saw Phillipina Kyei, Endyia Rogers and Grace VanSlooten all turn in double-doubles. The 50-point win marked UO's largest of the season, led by a career-high 26 points by VanSlooten. The Cougars come in having won four of their last five outings after their four-game winning streak was snapped Friday by Georgia Southern, 83-65. Sunday's matchup will be the first-ever meeting between Oregon and Charleston. 5. Grace VanSlooten regaining offensive aggressiveness with three games upcoming She admits to having struggled with her confidence in part because opposing offenses had thrown a bevy of different looks her way. "It was different. I hadn't experienced much of that throughout high school," VanSlooten said of being heavily scouted by opposing colleges. "I had experienced double-teams, but not nearly the scout that other universities have had on me. I struggled a little bit. That goes back to being aggressive. I've needed my confidence and needed to go up strong when I'm going against the bigger players and things like that." 9. Cam McCormick contemplating return to Oregon for eighth season The Oregon native's persevere has been well documented. Serious injuries cost him his 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons. McCormick shocked many when he sought extra eligibility after suffering a torn achilles against Ohio State a season ago. He received national recognition earlier this week when he became the recipient of this year's Capital One Orange Bowl-FWAA Courage Award. McCormick will be on hand at the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30 to receive his award. "I'm thinking about returning for year eight." A decision for the 2023 season will come after the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 28. 10. It might be good that this is coming out with Moore now. There is nothing worse than an unhappy QB down the road who disrupts team chemistry. No matter how good a QB is in high school, there is no guarantee that he can start and do well in college right away. The odds are very low. I think it is a good idea for Moore to sit back and learn from a good college QB. No matter how good he thinks he is, he still has a lot to learn.
  11. Perhaps it's better to get a QB through the Transfer Portal...You have college film to look at abilities...Bigger gamble (unknowns) with a HS recruit

How Oregon Ducks’ depth chart shapes up heading into Holiday Bowl, 2023 Oregon (9-3) has lost 15 scholarship players to the transfer portal and DJ Johnson and Christian Gonzalez have opted out of playing in the Holiday Bowl against North Carolina. That leaves the Ducks with approximately 67 scholarship players on the roster, including three injured interior defensive linemen and several true freshmen who have yet to play. “When you have less people here, there’s more opportunities for the people that are here,” Lanning said. “We’re excited about the guys we’ve got.” How Oregon Ducks’ depth chart shapes up heading into Holiday Bowl, 2023 WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Oregon (9-3) has lost 15 scholarship players to the transfer portal and DJ Johnson and Christian Gonzalez have opted out of...
