With Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Washington joining the Big Ten in 2024, we’re highlighting the respective venues of the Conference’s existing and new members. Among the noteworthy and historic Big Ten venues are the three largest stadiums in college football: Michigan’s “Big House,” Penn State’s Beaver Stadium, and Ohio State’s “Horseshoe.” The oldest Big Ten stadium is Wisconsin’s Camp Randall Stadium, built in 1917. The newest is Minnesota’s Huntington Bank Stadium, constructed in 2009. And the League’s smallest is Northwestern’s Ryan Field at 47,130. USC’s Los Angeles Memorial Stadium and UCLA’s Rose Bowl are among the most prestigious and historic venues. Oregon’s Autzen Stadium and Washington’s Husky Stadium are among the nation’s loudest. Dan Lanning provides update on status of Oregon defensive lineman Popo Aumavae Oregon head coach Dan Lanning was unwilling to discuss many details from the Ducks’ first scrimmage of fall camp Saturday afternoon. But he did provide one notable injury update. Popo Aumavae, Oregon’s senior all-conference nose tackle, was able to take part in the scrimmage after he was absent from Friday’s practice. “Popo was out there a little bit. (Junior defensive lineman Keyon Ware-Hudson) was not,” Lanning said when asked about the status of each player. That’s significant news for the Ducks and should prompt a collective sigh of relief from the program’s fan base. Aumavae was one of the top interior defensive linemen in the nation in 2021. But he suffered a foot injury last fall that kept him sidelined for the entire 2022 campaign. Lanning says team's play was 'inconsistent' in first fall scrimmage Oregon held its first scrimmage of fall on Saturday afternoon inside Autzen Stadium. Head coach Dan Lanning was pleased with parts and unhappy with other elements of the team's play. Inconsistency was the word of the day for head coach Dan Lanning coming out of Saturday's first scrimmage of fall camp. Oregon's coach liked some of how the offense executed and some of how the defense played in space and how some of the true freshmen played in their first college scrimmages, but none of it was as routinely up to standard. "I don't know if it was consistent enough at the level we want," Lanning said shorty after executing Autzen Stadium on Saturday afternoon. "We have really high expectations for what we want. At times, we were really really good and at times we weren't. We've got to be more consistent." Preventing, forcing turnovers emphasized in first fall scrimmage for Oregon Ducks The Oregon Ducks will hold their first scrimmage of fall camp this afternoon at Autzen Stadium. The team’s first eight practices of fall camp have featured back-and-forth plays from the offense and defense. Each side wants the advantage today, with an emphasis still on playing fast and preventing and forcing turnovers. Oregon coach Dan Lanning said he wants to see “the ability to execute our offense and our defense fast, special teams at a fast level and a high level of execution.” With so many key returning pieces, additions at receiver, and a reloading offensive line, the first-team offense has a foundation to build upon. The second- and third-team offenses have more youth and today is a major evaluation day for younger players to show if they are ready to take on bigger roles. Five-star freshman Jurrion Dickey showing progress in first fall camp Oregon wideout Jurrion Dickey acts as the school's second-highest rated wideout enrollee ever. Per teammates and coaches, he's making progress during camp. Five-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey is making progress during his first collegiate fall camp. According to veteran Troy Franklin, Dickey has been turning heads with his physical tools while he continues to work towards learning all of the offense's complexities. "He just got here. This was practice eight for him," Franklin said on Friday. "He's been making his plays and all that. He's still learning the offense. He's doing a way better job. "Jurrion is from my city, so I definitely help him out." Only the second five-star wide receiver to ever sign with the Ducks, Dickey nudged Franklin from second all-time to third on the school's all-time wide receiver recruit list. Carlos Locklyn on getting true frosh RBs ready: 'This ain't going to be a microwave process' Oregon running backs coach Carlos Locklyn made it clear that nothing will be given to true freshmen running backs Dante Dowdell or Jayden Limar this fall. Both will need to prove they're ready to play. Carlos Locklyn warned against expectations that this year's true freshmen will be ready to play immediately. The Ducks brought in a pair of highly-regarded preps in Dante Dowdell and Jayden Limar this offseason, and while both are talented, they'll need to prove their preparation, as nothing will be given, he said on Friday. "I don't coach in a microwave way. I'm old school. It's going to be a hot oven. We let things cook in there the right way," Locklyn said. "They'll be ready when their time comes. They're learning from those guys, but this ain't going to be a microwave process." I must say, Coach Locklyn has the most interesting vocabulary of our coaches... Carlos Locklyn wants his backs to be key pieces on special teams as well as star running backs Oregon running back coach Carlos Locklyn explains why he likes his running backs also playing special teams. While the Oregon football program knows they have two of the best running backs in the country in returning starter Bucky Irving and top backup Noah Whitting, Oregon's running back coach Carlos Lockslyn expects all his backs to be more than just talented rushers. Locklyn wants his players to be multi-talented backs who can do it all on offense, and then fill in the gaps on special teams and be a standout there as well. "I told my guys before 'if you want to play in the NFL, there are a couple of things you have to do now. You have to be a multi-faceted back and you've got to be able to play special teams,'" said Locklyn. "If you can't do that, you'll only dream about playing in the NFL. A lot of people say they're devaluing the running back position or they'll be without the position. The RB position is like music. You really can't have music without R&B. This game will continue with the running back being a valuable asset. I just tell my guys you're going to play special teams, you're going to be able to catch the ball, and we're going to make ourselves as valuable as we can to this team." The push to get his guys on special teams is also rooted in a way to show his players this is a team sport and in today's college football you need to be able to do more than one thing as a player. Where Do the Pac-4 End Up?
Pennsylvania Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oregon State president Jayathi Murthy tells campus the school’s future is preserving the Pac-12 Oregon State, stunned a week ago when five schools decided to leave the Pac-12, has decided its best path is rebuilding the conference. In a statement to “OSU Community Members,” school president Jayathi Murthy wrote that “we continue to believe that preserving the Pac-12 is in the best interests of OSU student-athletes and the remaining universities, and so we are doing everything in our control to stabilize and rebuild the conference.” Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State and Utah decided last Friday to leave the Pac-12, joining Colorado, USC and UCLA. The only schools remaining in the conference are Oregon State, Washington State, Stanford and California. The Pac-12′s current configuration finishes at the end of the 2023-24 school year. A rebuilt Pac-12 could have as few as six schools, at least for two years to retain FBS status. A new-look Pac-12 could add schools such as San Diego State, UNLV, Colorado State, Boise State, SMU, Rice and Tulane, among others. Please read article for Murthy's complete statement... Wide Receiver Adrian Wilson Talks Oregon Commitment, What's Next The 2025 Pflugerville (Tex.) Weiss wide receiver flipped his commitment from the TCU Horned Frogs to the Oregon Ducks last month. The 6-foot-2, 173-pound wideout flipped his commitment from the in-state TCU Horned Frogs to the Oregon Ducks during his trip to Eugene for Saturday Night Live. "It was definitely connections. A lot of relationships that I've built over time," Wilson said of why he flipped his pledge. "Coach AP (Antonio Parks) coming from Arizona State, I've built that connection with him for a while. "Coach (Will) Stein was based out of Austin for a while being a high school coach here and being a college coach here- and him being my fourth offer. Coach (Dan) Lanning, me and him talked for a while." While he's playing his high school football in the Lone Star State, his admiration for the Ducks dates back to his childhood out West. "I'm from Anchorage, Alaska originally," Wilson said. "That (Oregon) was the area school. So that's been my dream school. Getting the opportunity to go there, I definitely took full advantage of that." To read more from this Max Torres article, click here. -

Where Do the Pac-4 End Up?
Pennsylvania Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Where do Pac-12's remaining 4 end up after latest conference realignment shakeup? A week after the Pac-12 lost five teams to the Big Ten and Big 12, the conference’s future — if there is any — may be in the hands of the Cardinal. The other remaining Pac-12 teams — Cal, Oregon State and Washington State — twist in the wind, their futures potentially contingent on a decision from a 132-year-old university. While an array of options have been discussed during gatherings with leaders of the Pac-12's remaining members — most of them without commissioner George Kliavkoff present — Stanford’s decision is at the center of answering a vexing question: Where do the four schools go from here? Where do Pac-12's remaining 4 end up after latest conference realignment shakeup? Oregon WR Troy Franklin taking on a leadership role heading into his third fall camp Through nearly two weeks of fall camp, competition is still high with the Ducks, according to Troy Franklin. Franklin looks to improve on his 2022 season while also mentoring the incoming freshman. Year three of Troy Franklin's Oregon career is fast approaching. Franklin, a highly-rated four-star recruit, joined the Ducks prior to the 2021 season and showcased untapped potential in his freshman season. It all came together as Franklin hauled in 61 receptions for 891 yards and nine touchdowns, leading the Ducks in all three categories. Franklin's performance solidified him for potential first-round buzz in the 2024 NFL Draft. The improvement from Franklin went hand-in-hand with becoming quarterback Bo Nix's number-one option. The duo connected plenty last season, and Franklin always seemed to be his first option when Nix was in trouble. Franklin and Nix, now entering their second fall camp together, look to enhance their on-field chemistry even more, something Franklin says is already in the works.
