GameDay Thread vs. Oregon State: Join Us!
OregonDucks replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Don’t like the decision to go for it on 4th down. Need to take the points against a tough defense in what is expected to be a close game on the road. -
Oregon Must Ride Its Defense to a Title
OregonDucks replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I can't argue with a 9-2 record. The Georgia game was expected but the Washington game was painful. What I find most troubling with Oregon's defense is their inability to make a play on 3rd-and-long and blown coverages for long touchdowns, when they are playing a conservative defense. I would like to see more man-on-man coverages, especially with Gonzalez. The soft zone is a terrible choice on 3rd-and-long. -
Off to a Fan-Tastic Start in Recruiting!!
OregonDucks replied to 1Funduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I would be over the moon if Proctor and/or Hicks chose to come to play football for the Ducks. Coaches have done a fantastic job building this class and this is just the beginning. The transfer portal will be key in plugging potential holes in the roster for next season. The coaches knocked it out of the ballpark last year with Nix, Irving, Gonzalez, Cota, Whittingham, et al. -
Oregon Must Ride Its Defense to a Title
OregonDucks replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Wow. Great post DazeNconfused! I'm no expert but I've been extremely disappointed with the defense. I thought for sure with Lanning (and Tosh) we would see a step forward in our defense performance this year, and was hopeful that Oregon's defense could be dominant in a couple of years. I look around college football and see the tough, gritty defense that Oregon State fields. Do they have better athletes than Oregon does on defense or is it scheme/coaching/desire? I would let Gonzalez play man-to-man against his receiver. We have seen too many miscommunications between him and the safety resulting in a long, blown coverage TD. He is projected by some to be the #1 CB taken in the NFL Draft. Let him lock down the player across from him. Utah and Oregon State want to run the ball on offense. They don't have the passing attack that Washington and USC possess. If we can get by Oregon State, I hope Bo Nix can get close to 100% for the Pac-12 Championship Game because I'm not sure how we are going to stop USC's offense. -
Heisman Hopefuls: Bo In the Mix
OregonDucks replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Bo Nix has been so fun to watch this year. He and Dillingham have brought back the O to Oregon. If you take Nix off of Oregon's team, we are at best a .500 team. At the very least, Bo deserves an invitation to the Heisman Trophy ceremony given the year he has had and how important he is to the team. I selfishly hope that Bo and Dillingham decide to come back to Oregon next year for another run at the National Championship (we don't play Georgia to start the season) but if he doesn't Bo has shown potential transfer QBs what is possible if they come to play in Eugene, Oregon. -
Poor Mario: 'Cane Fans Can be BRUTAL
OregonDucks replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Perhaps you are kidding but I haven't seen any sign of improvement. Mario would have to first realize that HE is the problem on order to improve. -
Perhaps he was just trying to get Oregon better field position? The way a RB or WR will place the ball further down the field than where they are tackled. Needs a bit of work.

Kenny Dillingham Has Talked with ASU
OregonDucks replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Under Coach Bellotti, Oregon lost an OC every couple of years to take head coaching positions. At one point, it seemed as though half of the Pac-10 coaches were former Oregon OCs. It's one of the consequences of a successful program and is better than the alternative. -
Kenny Dillingham Has Talked with ASU
OregonDucks replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I hate to say it but Dillingham should take the ASU HC job if offered. I can't blame someone for chasing their dreams and having the opportunity to coach at your alma mater would be hard to turn down. Scott Frost - no, thank you. I have also thought of Mark Helfrich as OC. He certainly had a great eye for QB recruits and is a good OC. -
Oregon Ducks Football: New Rivalry Game Name
OregonDucks replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
civil - courteous and polite Can we just call it "the civil war" (lower case letters), since it has nothing to do with The U.S. Civil War? The game is a "friendly" in-state rivalry game, oftentimes with divided households rooting for different teams. It's about bragging rights in the state of Oregon and occasionally something much more meaningful. LOL. Another option is to call it he Uncivil War but then it might be confused with the Washington-Oregon game! -
Man, what a gutsy performance by Bo Nix and Oregon! I can’t believe how well the defense played tonight. Glad to see them get some redemption after last week’s game. GO DUCKS!!!

Irving is not having a great game with at just under 4 yards a carry but he is not able to get any momentum. -

I want to know why Oregon abandoned the running game? Only 14 carries through the 3rd quarter. I just don't understand the game plan with an injured Nix. For comparison purposes, Utah has 2x the number of carries. -

That was on Lanning. Have Bo Nix hand off the ball!!! -
If Oregon can get to the Pac-12 Championship Game, I'm not sure how Oregon would slow down Caleb Williams and USC's offense. With a banged up Bo Nix, I'm not confident that we can score enough to win that game. UCLA would have been a more favorable match up for Oregon, IMHO.

Not a fan of what we are doing on offense. Too many quick, short passes. Run the ball! -
Hear It From Dante Moore: 'I'm Locked in to Oregon'
OregonDucks replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Dante Moore is reportedly still trying to recruit top players to Oregon, which is always a good sign. It appears that Dante's Detroit Kings are in the championship game again. Best of luck to Dante and his teammates as they try to repeat as champions. Mlk Varsity Boys Football | Michigan High School Athletic Association WWW.MHSAA.COM -
Bo Nix: Does This Mean He's Leaving?
OregonDucks replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If Bo Nix is done, I would like to wish the young man the best in his future endeavors. It has been a pleasure watching him play this season. Bo has proved the doubters wrong and made Oregon’s offense fun to watch again. He is the main reason that the Ducks were in the playoff conversation late in the season and have a shot to win the conference. God speed. -
Per Canzano’s latest article: “The Big Ten’s media rights distributions were grossly inflated when they were initially released this summer. The real distribution figure is an annual average of $62.5 million, per school, less than the $72 million or $80 million figures that were originally leaked.” Canzano: Humility is good medicine for a coach (and us all) WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Candid and authentic... wins every time.

I am still pissed that Travis Dye transferred to USC. USC?!!! Couldn’t have picked any other school?! I was hoping the Ducks could abut down Travis in the PAC-12 championship and blow out the Trojans. That said, it’s sad to see Travis injured. By all accounts, he is a terrific young man. I hope that he is able to heal and pursue his dreams.

And DAT didn't stop once he got to Oregon.. The most explosive player in Oregon football history.
-
Trech is shifty but not nearly as fast as DAT (very few are). My first thought was that he would be a good potential replacement for Chase Cota in the slot and a good punt returner. For those of you who do not remember what DAT was doing in high school, I leave you with this gem. His highlight real was like a video game. Unreal. So glad that he chose to play for Chip Kelly at Oregon!
