  4. Oregon makes top group for elite 5-star edge defender in Class of 2025 Zion Grady is over a year from signing to play college football, but he’s already narrowing the focus of his recruitment. Grady, the top edge-defender in the Class of 2025, named his top 10 teams. As one might expect, the Troy, Alabama native is showing a strong interest in playing in the SEC. He’s also considering playing in the Pac-12. Oregon is the only 2025 Pac-12 team to make the cut for Grady’s top 10. The Ducks will compete with Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Tennessee, Texas and USC to land Grady. 7. Wait until you read this! Dubious indeed! Fandom in college football is sometimes a touchy subject. There are teams that you love more than anything in the world and teams that you hate with a fiery passion. Despite the passionate feelings, there is often a sense of respect between groups, though. Even college football fans who can’t stand the Oregon Ducks acknowledge that the team in Eugene is popular. It doesn’t matter how much you despise the green and yellow, it’s hard to deny that with the uniforms, the connection to Nike, and the rise to national prominence over the past couple of decades, the group of individuals that call themselves Oregon fans has grown exponentially. However, a recent study that was done by SBRNet and analyzed by AL.com has a different view. The study uses polling data from the marketing research firm in partnership with the Center for Sports Analytics at Samford University, working to find out which schools in the nation have the largest fanbases for college football programs. According to the study, Oregon doesn’t have a top-10 fanbase; nor do they have a top-20 fanbase, when looking at size. Somehow, the study conducted by SBRNet determines that the Ducks have the 37th largest fanbase in the nation — which ranks sixth in the Pac-12 conference alone — boasting just a total of 921,746 fans. For reference, the No. 1 fanbase per the study is Ohio State, with a number of 6,151,180. You can see why we are dubious about the data. Oregon Football: New study shows questionable view of Ducks fanbase DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Oregon’s fanbase is how big? A new study claims that the Ducks have a way smaller following than you might think. We respectfully disagree.
  8. The media is over looking what we have on the offensive line. They see Oregon losing 4 veteran offensive line starters from last year's team. But the team will have some of the best talent in the league on this year's squad. Marcus Harper, Josh Conerly, Jackson Powers-Johnson (who was really mentored by Alex Forsyth in the center position), along with a handful of other younger players who have some experience playing in games. Also, Lanning and Klemm brought in through the portal Angilus and Cornelius. Angilus started 34 games across different spots on the line during his time at Texas. Cornelius was among the most highly-coveted players in the transfer portal. With the help of these couple of big time commitments, Oregon's offensive line could be a major strength this coming season. I think about what Will Stein will produce on the field with a talented experience QB and one of the top receiving corps in the country. Along with an embarrassment of riches in the running back position, and a really good offensive line leading the charge. What Will Stein did at his old school with a depleted front line. I can imagine what he will be able to do with this front line at Oregon. Our defense will be a different animal this coming season. With a wealth of talent everywhere with Burch, Bassa and Jamal Hill leading the way. Dan Lanning is starting to build layers of players to run the type of defense he is looking for. He is one of the brightest defensive minds in the country. Both Charles and coach Boles have presented us with an array of multifaceted offensive and defensive plays that excites the imagination of what this team is capable of doing this year. I have no doubt what this offense will be able achieve this year. But what I am most intrigue, which I believe will be the big surprise, is our defense. So, let the media overlook Oregon. This only brings fodder to the team. Go Ducks, Fly High!!
  9. An old friend could beat Georgia for five-star LB Justin Williams Oak Ridge (Texas) linebacker Justin Williams is a big deal as a recruit. As such, it shouldn't be all that surprising that there are plenty of big-time schools after his commitment. Williams boasts over 30 offers, but he's narrowed his recruitment down to four blue-bloods: Alabama, Texas, Oregon and Georgia. Ranked as the consensus No. 1 linebacker in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite, Williams is set to announce his decision on July 24. He even further narrowed his list down to Oregon and Georgia in a conversation with On3, which means that the defending back-to-back national champions are in a fight with the Nike-backed Ducks of Eugene. One of the top tight ends out West is ready to get back on the road once the contact period reopens. 12. Charles and HappyToBeADuck stated it well. Look what happened to the brick and mortar stores/malls. They started disappearing due to a new way of shopping via online with Amazon, etc. What is happening is sort of the same way. People are cutting the cord and going by the way of streaming. It's the new way of doing business. This is what's going to happen with linear tv. Linear will never be the same. Big money will be in the streaming business. Hopefully Pac-12 will benefit from it with a solid media contract. I agree with Charles. I'm seeing Oregon will benefit greatly. Helping expand their brand and fanbase.
  13. Love the idea of getting together! My family and I will be arriving in Eugene on Friday! Can't wait for the game! Thanks Charles! Go Ducks, Fly High!

  15. The Pac-12 has quite a few marquee games in 2023 While too much of the attention surrounding the Pac-12 this offseason has been on things that won't be happening on the field, but more so what is happening in the boardroom, the Pac-12 is poised to have a huge year. There are five programs that are viewed as being Pac-12 title contenders, with four of them having a chance to make the playoff if everything goes right for them. There are also the added storylines of USC and UCLA's last year in the Pac-12 being that they are set to make the jump to the Big Ten following the conclusion of the season. With all of the intense matchups, I decided to check the ticket prices for every Pac-12 team, and see which matchup has the highest price! Here is a list of every Pac-12 team’s most expensive home ticket in 2023 according to Gametime (prices as of 07/12). Check out the most expensive ticket for the UCLA/Colorado game: Opponent: Colorado Most Expensive Ticket: $13,045. 16. Ducks in the running early on for elite 2026 QB recruit When it comes to the stars of the future, it never hurts to get in on them early. For the Oregon Ducks, that appears to be paying dividends so far, with 2026 quarterback Julian Lewis announcing his first top 8 on Wednesday, including the Ducks alongside teams like Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, USC, and LSU, among others. 17. How does the average college football fan feel about the 12 schools in the Pac-12 on a general basis? Obviously, it will differ for each individual person, but here are my projections based on overall interactions on social media, media coverage, and general vibes. 18. Glaring issue when it comes to exposure, brands, kickoff times. A former newspaper colleague from the West Coast who took a job in the Eastern Time Zone told me that one of the first things he noticed after his move was how much that three-hour time difference mattered when it came to sports habits. By the time the Pac-12 kicks off a Saturday college football game, the Big Ten, ACC and SEC have saturated the market with highlights, scores, storylines and content. “Anything west of the Rockies,” he lamented, “feels like it’s happening on another planet.” The “Pac-12 After Dark” stuff is fun branding. The games are interesting to college football fans in the Pacific Time Zone, but by 7:30 p.m. PT the East Coast is more interested in finding a pillow.
