  1. As been stated, the Pac-12 will have a media deal and Oregon will stay in the Pac-12. Hopefully signed by the time of the Pac-12 conference media day in Las Vegas, July 21. I do think an invite to SDSU and SMU to the Pac-12 will only strengthen the conference with-in 5-6 years. The only part I was interested in the write-up below was his take on the importance of Oregon's brand: Oregon The Big Ten will begin expanding its footprint to the west coast next season as USC and UCLA join the conference. The two schools will cover a huge media market residing in the southern California area. If the Big Ten wants to move further up the coast, then Oregon is the next best option. All you have to say about Oregon is Nike. Having the backing of Phil Knight and Nike would be a huge deal for whatever conference the Ducks end up playing in, should the Pac-12 no longer exist. Add that on top of Oregon football being a national brand, this only adds more intrigue to them. Because let's face it, a large part of these expansions and realignment are based on football money. Oregon football is one of the strongest of the remaining schools left in the Pac-12 that could get a lot of television interest, thus more revenue. If the Ducks were to come into the Big Ten, it would create some interesting new matchups and even some familiar Pac-12 ones. Oregon, 3 college football team candidates for Big Ten conference expansion CLUTCHPOINTS.COM Conference realignment continues in college football with the Big Ten likely to continue to expand. Could Oregon and others be next? Canzano pointed out, Oregon's primary importance is after the playoffs. The Pac-12 will be the easier path to get us there. The conference champion will have an automatic entry into the 12-team bracket. Would it be better for the conference to go from 9 to 8 conference games? "The 12-team bracket will consist of six automatic qualifiers and six at-large bids chosen by the College Football Playoff committee. The six automatic entries will be the six highest-ranked conference champions. College football's highest division, the Football Bowl Subdivision, consists of five "Power 5" conferences (ACC, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12) and five "Group of 5" conferences (American, C-USA, MAC, Mountain West, Sun Belt). Including six conference champions guarantees the playoffs have at least one Group of 5 team each year." College football is expanding its playoff to 12 teams — Here is everything we know about the new format WWW.INSIDER.COM The playoff is expanding from four to 12 teams as early as 2024, and we already know a lot about who will be in and where the games will be played.

  3. According to On3 Oregon's Division Street ranks third in the Top 10 NIL Collectives in college football. Charles is right. Arizona most likely shot for the moon with Rushing in NIL money. But, their collective might not have the resources to go after more big talent.
  4. Hmm. Yes, Charles is correct, that message board should be changed from "Message Board Geniuses" to "Message Board Morons." Oops did I just say that out loud? My bad.
  5. New Oregon commit Dylan Willams breaks down his decision Oregon beats out Michigan State for one of the region's top linebacker prospects. Oregon, as we’ve said many times before, was the team to beat for Williams ever since he de-committed from USC last October. He took multiple trips to the Eugene campus, had a strong mentor on the staff in former Poly assistant Rashad Wadood and developed a strong relationship with the rest of the coaching staff as well. Oregon needed to hit a home run on their official visit back on June 23 and did just that. 6. One of the most common new businesses to have risen surrounding NIL is NIL collectives. NIL collectives are organizations that seek to assist athletes in the process of finding and completing profitable opportunities, as well as negotiating their compensation packages. Below are what On3 deemed were the 10 most "ambitious" NIL collectives in college sports. I didn't know much about NIL collectives before writing this, but it seems to me that the success or failure of an NIL collective is largely dependent on the amount of money being pound into the program, however, there are non-monetary factors that play into the success of certain collectives, which is the most interesting part to me. At No. 3 Oregon - Division Street Division Street unites the two ultimate NIL brands: Oregon and Nike. For years Phil Knight has been doing everything he can to infuse Nike with Oregon athletics, but with the existence of NIL, his ability to synergize those brands is greater than it has ever been. The nexus of Nike’s marketing scheme is athlete-focused endorsements. Whether it is Steve Prefontaine or Cristiano Rondalo, Nike loves to be endorsed by athletes, but before the existence of NIL, collegiate athletics was an untapped marketplace of athletes to endorse the Nike brand, which is what Division Street has sought to capitalize on. As pointed out in On3’s article, one of the more successful ventures created out of Division Street is Ducks of a Feather, an apparel brand that is “made by student-athletes, for student-athletes.” The young brand has limited inventory, but the inventory they’ve had has all sold out rather quickly, which could be a sign of longevity for the brand, as well as the profitability for the athletes involved. 8. Commitment Preview: Decision Time For Dylan Williams We're less than 24 hours away from the college commitment of Dylan Williams. The 2024 Long Beach (Calif.) Poly linebacker will make his decision on Friday at around 1:30 pm PT on the Rivals YouTube channel. He'll choose from a top five of Michigan State, Oregon, Miami, UCLA and Washington. Here's the latest that I'm hearing on Williams as we close in on his announcement. He may be working from a top five, but for my money this is down to Oregon and Michigan State. And from what I'm hearing it's a VERY close battle. I made my predictionfor Oregon back on June 22. I'm not ready to change my pick, but I'll say I'm not feeling as confident as I did when I wrote that piece after seeing all this smoke around Michigan State. Maybe that's all it is. Smoke. But either way I can tell you the Spartans are contenders. It's also worth noting that 247 national analyst Greg Biggins logged a prediction for Oregon on Thursday. Furthermore, Oregon linebacker target Kamar Mothudi is going to making his college commitment on July 11. He took an official visits to both Oregon and Michigan State as well and the Spartans are making a strong push for him. Mothudi and Williams are good friends and both play their 7on7 ball with Premium Sports in the Los Angeles area, so I think the idea of teaming up again in college has some appeal to both players. That said, I've felt very good about where Oregon stands with Mothudi for a long time. Michigan State has made a strong push for both of these guys, but the question is: is it too little too late? Or did they enter the mix at just the right time? https://www.star-telegram.com/sports/college/article277088313.html#storylink=rss
  9. Where SMU stands with Pac-12 after San Diego State's retreat back to MWC Pac-12 expansion has not gone as smoothly as many were hoping it would Despite reports indicating that the Pac-12 wouldn't have their media rights deal done until July, and the conference president himself saying that the conference wouldn't expand until the deal was done, San Diego State still pulled out a questionable move. They essentially alerted the Mountain West whether it was their intention or not, that they were leaving the conference. The consensus around the country is that they were hoping to secure an invite to the Pac-12, and avoid having to pay the $33.5 million exit fee. Unfortunately for them they didn't receive an invitation, and they are now left with three options moving forward. While most of the attention has been on them and rightfully so, as they may have even tried to force the Pac-12's hand a bit, many are wondering what to make of SMU. San Diego State has long been viewed as the perfect candidate for Pac-12 expansion, and SMU has been right there with them. We know that the program out of Dallas has interest in joining the Pac-12 and the feeling was at one point viewed as mutual, but they have been much more quiet about expansion than San Diego State. Pac-12 insider John Canzano recently provided an update on where SMU currently stands in this whole ordeal. Assuming they learned from San Diego State's mistake, SMU likely won't inform the American of their plan to leave until they know it's a for sure thing. In order to leave they would have to pay the AAC an exit fee of $10 million and also provide a 27-month notice of departure. A fee that could come down as the commissioner, Mike Aresco, has revealed he's open to negotiating with a program that is leaving. July is expected to be a big month for the Pac-12, and also provide some much needed closure on this wave of realignment. https://www.si.com/college/stanford/football/where-smu-stands-with-pac-12-after-san-diego-states-retreat-back-to-mwc

  11. Who’s Next at EDGE for Oregon? Oregon recruiting was dealt a significant blow on the recruiting trail on Thursday as 2024 Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic edge rusher Elijah Rushing committed to the Arizona Wildcats, spurning the Ducks after they had long been considered the favorites for his commitment. Oregon would be smart to stay involved and continue recruiting Rushing until signing day and I fully expect that to be the case. With Rushing electing to stay home and play for Jedd Fisch, Oregon is still looking for a difference maker that can get after the quarterback. The Now Famous Home of the Ducks is Unique in Many Ways There’s nothing like approaching Autzen Stadium on gameday and seeing the giant O there to greet you, whether you’re using the North or South entrances. The atmosphere is electric, and the stadium boasts one of the best seating layouts in the country, with no obscured views and no true “nosebleed” sections. With the weather changing so drastically during autumns in Oregon, you could end up seeing a game in blisteringly hot conditions or bundled up against freezing rain…and everything in between. 14. Head coach Dan Lanning has the ball rolling in Eugune, securing 10 wins in his first season. There are high expectations heading into 2023, with the Ducks looking to compete nationally. On3’s J.D. PicKell is looking further down the line though, wanting to buy stock in Oregon. His main reason is how well Lanning is recruiting early in his tenure. Lanning has plenty of SEC experience when recruiting and has brought the same mentality with him to the Pacific Northwest. “Long-term, I am buying stock in Oregon,” PicKell said. “I’m buying stock in Oregon for a few reasons. The first of which being — they’re going to recruit. How do I know they’re going to recruit? Because Dan Lanning in a very short period of time has proven he’s going to recruit. He doesn’t care where he does it. He’ll go anywhere to recruit. I understand what he is saying about our safeties last year, but the defense will be different this year going forward. The conference will face major changes in 2024 as the UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans will leave for the Big Ten. Furthermore, the College Football Playoff will expand to 12 teams from the current four-team format, giving more programs an opportunity to reach the postseason. Take a look at how that could affect the media rights deal below. How could the College Football Playoff expansion affect the Pac-12 media rights deal? The College Football Playoff will expand by eight teams in 2024 as the field grows from four to 12 teams for the first time. John Canzano recently explained how the expansion could affect the Pac-12 media rights deal, stating: He added: While the conference has had just two appearances in the nine years of the College Football Playoff, that could certainly change with an expanded postseason field. In 2022, two schools finished outside the top four but in the top 12 of the final rankings. Pac-12 media rights delay due to 2024 College Football Playoff expansion? 20. 'You can really lock in and focus;' 5-star Aydin Breland is sold on Eugene atmosphere In Eugene, Oregon, you aren’t going to find the atmosphere that you would in Los Angeles, Miami, or even Columbus. The nightlife isn’t as active, and the glamour isn’t as present. For some high school recruits, that may be a turn-off. For others, it could end up being one of the main selling points. Of course, Oregon has a ton to offer. Between Nike, the uniforms, the unreal Autzen Stadium experience, and some of the nicest facilities in the nation, it’s not hard to sell a high school prospect on life as a Duck. Another underrated thing that Oregon has going for it is the relatively low-key Eugene environment. It’s not a large city with a crazy club scene on the weekends; you have to drive a couple of hours north to Portland in order to find that. In Eugene, you get a chance to focus on football and school without a bunch of unwanted distractions. For 5-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland, that’s a massive bonus. He recently spoke to 247Sports about what he likes about the Ducks and mentioned that for himself, the opportunity to block out all of the noise and focus on his craft is what stands out about Eugene. Oregon Recruiting: 5-star Aydin Breland digs Eugene’s low-key nature DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Eugene is not Miami, nor is it Los Angeles. 21. Very promising prediction numbers for the Ducks. Good Read. What are realistic expectations for Ducks' final recruiting ranking in 2024 class? At the moment, the Ducks have the No. 8 ranked class in 2024. They have been as high as No. 6 on that list over the past couple of months, but recruiting is a fluid game, and teams are moving up and down the leaderboard every day as players announce their commitments. What I want to do here is take a look at what I think realistic expectations for the Ducks’ final 2024 recruiting ranking could be. There are a handful of 5-star players and a long list of 4-star players that Oregon is recruiting heavily, and should they commit to play in Eugene, then of course this could be the team’s greatest class of all time. Is that realistic, though? Likely not. So let’s go through some of the biggest names that the Ducks are targeting, and try to get an accurate prediction on where things will end up when all is said and done in the 2024 class, Lanning’s third official class in Eugene. Oregon Recruiting: Realistic expectations for Ducks final 2024 ranking DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Oregon has maintained a top-10 recruiting class throughout the 2024 cycle. Oregon offers emerging tight end prospect in the 2024 class The Ducks have extended a new offer to an emerging tight end prospect Oregon's coaching staff already holds verbal commitments from two prospects projected to play the tight end position in their 2024 class. So it was interesting that after evaluating a prospect at one of Oregon's football camps on campus the Ducks extended a scholarship offer to yet another tight end prospect in the 2024 class. After camping in Eugene last weekend, 2024 tight end and unranked prospect Kade Caton out of Manvel high school in Texas landed a scholarship offer from the Oregon Ducks.
