I am with you on this, not sure. Of course as we all know, there are many articles out there on the demise of the Pac-12. Like the four corner schools going to the Big 12 and Oregon with Washington going to the Big 10 due to failed media rights deal. I read the article Tramel put out on Colorado which is this one below that the SWAIM show was talking about. As silent as the Pac-12 have been on the media rights deal, hard for me to believe that all these rumors are true at this point. I would think the likes of Canzano, Wilner or Bodkin which is closer to the heart beat of the Pac-12 would be putting the news out there if any of this is true. But again, hard to know what is true and what isn't at this point. What I hope is Oregon will make the right decisions moving forward. Hopefully voicing their demands, getting what they want before signing any 'short term' contract with the Pac-12. Tramel's ScissorTales: Is Colorado close to leaving Pac-12 for Big 12? Signs say yes WWW.OKLAHOMAN.COM A Big 12 source says Colorado is close to leaving Pac-12, and signs mount that the Pac-12 is more vulnerable than ever

No. 1 RB Turbo Rogers Talks Commitment Decision and Final Five Programs With a decision date set for June 2, 2025 No.1 running back Anthony "Turbo" Rogers spoke with FanNation's Director of Recruiting Brooks Austin to break down his impending decision. Located more than 2,500 miles from Rogers’ hometown, Oregon is the lone school outside the southeast to still have a shot to reel in the talented running back. Given the considerable distance from his home, it is naturally curious that the Ducks made the cut for his top-five. To hear Rogers explain it, it is his long-standing relationship with Oregon’s Running Back Coach Carlos Locklyn that has kept the Ducks in the mix. “They’ve got a nice offensive scheme. They are known for having speedy running backs so I’m pretty sure they know what to do with guys like me in the backfield. But the main thing with Oregon, Coach Locke, the running back coach, he gave me my first offer ever when he was at Western Kentucky and he’s from my hometown so we’ve had a great relationship ever since I was in eighth grade, so that’s why I chose Oregon. https://www.si.com/college/georgia/recruiting/turbo-rogers-talks-georgia-football-and-recruitiment -

The timing of it all makes perfect sense. No, not that timing. Not the timing of the Pac-12's media rights deal, which has been extended far beyond what was originally forecast and might not be completed for many more weeks. Instead, we're referring to the timing of on-the-record comments about the negotiations by those in the know. The utterances fit perfectly within the larger saga. The conference held its annual double-shot of spring meetings in the first half of May. The athletic directors gathered in Scottsdale (with coaches) during the first week, then came the quarterly board meeting of university presidents on May 15 in Seattle. Both agendas included updates from commissioner George Kliavkoff on media rights negotiations and conference expansion. Kliavkoff hasn't spoken publicly about the topics for six months, and that didn't change following the May meetings. But two athletic directors and one president addressed the situation, thus providing fans and media members alike with enough crumbs to create a path through the silence. Let's dig in. Pac-12 media rights: How to interpret a recent series of public comments by campus officials WWW.KSL.COM Two ADs and one president have spoken about the negotiations.

Gold: With ESPN (Maybe, Likely?) Out, Where Does the Pac-12 Land?

No worries. I know you are not directing this personally at me. You are just responding with your take on the matter. I agree with you. The only ones I feel will give us true insight is Canzano, Wilner and Michele Bodkin. They are the ones closest to the conference heartbeat. Oregon Checks Major Box for Brandon Baker Following Recent Visit 2024 Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei offensive lineman Brandon Baker has been a top target for Oregon for a long time. His recruitment with Oregon got reset a little bit when Adrian Klemm and Viane Talamaivao took new jobs after the 2022 season. He took his second visit to Oregon in less than a month over the weekend and the Ducks made a major impression. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/college/article275749601.html#storylink=rss -
Ok? Gold seems to try and present a funny spoof off of the ongoing saga of the Pac-12 media rights situation. With some reporting that the Pac-12 and ESPN are not in discussion and that a deal between the conference and the media giant seems unlikely, and others contending that the fat lady has not indeed sung, things nonetheless are appearing grim at the moment for our beloved conference out west. But great news, Pac-12 fans. There are plenty of fish in the sea! Who needs ESPN when you’ve got (checks notes) … ION Television? The CW Network? Don’t laugh now — those are two of the potential Pac-12 destinations being bandied about, no matter how silly. Why stop there? Broadcast and cable television offer dozens of potential landing spots for the Pac-12. It’s time for optimism and big ideas, and I’m nothing if not an ideas guy. Here are some of my preferred viewing options, with some potential choice programming … Gold: With ESPN (maybe, likely?) out, where does the Pac-12 land? SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM With things looking grim for the Pac-12's next media deal, columnist Jon Gold takes a comical look at some potential landing spots and offers some programming advice.

Oregon has landed a verbal commitment from Peyton Scott of Miami (OH), a four-year starter with over 1800 career points. A 5-foot-8 guard, Scott is graduate transfer with one year to play. Scott enjoyed a storied four years at Miami. She was a three-time All-MAC selection and finished her time there with 1,871 career points to go with 368 assists and 217 steals. She averaged a career-high 21.2 points per game as a sophomore along with 5.2 assists per game (best among MAC players) and 2.7 steals per game (third best among MAC players). This past season was her most efficient season, as she made 36.7 percent of three-point shots while averaging 15.4 points per game. Oregon badly needed to add veteran guards this offseason after starters Endyia Rogers and Te-Hina Paopao each transferred. Scott and Williams are currently the team's only seniors and the only guards with collegiate starting experience other than Chance Gray. Early Enrollee Spring Rewind: George Silva Here is a breakdown of what Oregon junior college transfer George Silva showed during his first spring football camp. Today, we continue this series with offensive lineman George Silva. Recruit Stats: 4-star prospect / Fifth-rated overall junior college prospect /top-rated junior college offensive tackle Height/Weight: 6-foot-7 / 295 pounds Outlook this fall: The lone junior college addition this offseason, Silva is expected to fill an immediate role in the two-deep as a tackle. While Silva played left tackle at Fullerton College, he worked almost exclusively on the right side during spring practice. That was where he operated when media watched practice and again in the spring game when the teams were split. Prediction: Massive 2024 Offensive Lineman to Oregon Putting in a new pick for Dan Lanning and the Ducks. One position that hasn't gotten a ton of buzz for the Ducks lately is offensive line. Oregon has two verbal commitments in Vancouver (Wash.) Evergreen standout Fox Crader and Salem (Ore.) West Salem product Trent Ferguson. Both of them were on campus over the weekend and they were joined by five-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei offensive tackle Brandon Baker, a top target for the Ducks this cycle. It's great that Crader was back on campus, as the Ducks continue to actively recruit him following trips all over the country, including to Los Angeles to check out USC recently. But, there's another name the Ducks have been heavily linked to of late. Today, I'm logging a prediction for Oregon to land 2024 Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville offensive tackle JacQawn McRoy. Confidence meter: 6/10 Explaining the pick First off I want to explain the confidence meter. I'm feeling good about this pick right now in May, but things could change between now and a rumored commitment date of June 30. He's from Alabama, and pulling players all the way across the country from the SEC footpring has never been easy and it's far from a guarantee. However, that said, I know that A'lique Terry and the Oregon staff have made McRoy a major priority in this class. Terry has been all over the country lately making rounds at schools to get eyes on the next crop of offensive line talent, which shows his hunger to prove himself and take the Ducks to the next level. As for McRoy, his combination of size, athleticism and bend at 6'8", 335 pounds make him a difference maker. The staff would love to pair him with Crader and maybe even Baker as well in their 2024 haul. https://www.si.com/college/oregon/recruiting/prediction-massive-2024-offensive-lineman-to-oregon -

Four-star OL Preston Taumua breaks down top five The latest on the talented blocker from the Aloha State... Oregon: “Oregon is a place that I could’ve seen myself playing at ever since I was in 8th grade. It’s always been a dream school of mine. I like it because Coach Koa Ka’ai, coach A’lique Terry and coach Cutter Leftwich. They’re the main guys I reach out to when it comes to this college stuff because they’re not as biased as people would think they would be. It all came full circle when coach Terry got hired as the new offensive line coach at Oregon. When I tore my ACL my sophomore year, coach Koa and coach Terry, who was working at Hawaii at the time, were the first-ever coaches to come see me. So it was cool to see coach Terry get hired as the new OL coach.” Taumua is among the most highly coveted prospects out West in the 2024 cycle and the ultra athletic line prospect continues to see his stock rise. Hmm, could Michael Schill be looking after Oregon? Northwestern president Michael Schill is not thrilled with the Big Ten’s additions of USC and UCLA to the conference next year. It’s an interesting take considering the spotlight the conference received for adding premier institutions in athletics and academics. With the expansion, the Big Ten will equal the SEC in total teams (16) next season when Oklahoma and Texas leave the Big 12. While Schill isn’t exactly thrilled, he offered a vague solution to the issue. “At the assembly, Schill and the panelists also discussed UCLA and USC joining the Big Ten Conference,” Pavan Acharya of the Daily Northwestern wrote. “The two schools will enter the Big Ten in August 2024. Schill said he is ‘not really thrilled’ with the inclusion of UCLA and USC in the Big Ten. While he remains ‘skeptical about the initial decision,’ he believes adding more West Coast teams to the Big Ten, in addition to UCLA and USC, could result in less overall travel time for all teams in the conference.” Basically, Schill might not be opposed to further expansion in the Big Ten, but it’ll have to come from the west coast to even out the geographic balance. It’s worth noting Schill served as the president of the University of Oregon from April 14, 2015 until he was named to the same role at Northwestern last August. Early Enrollee Spring Rewind: Tyler Turner Here is a breakdown of what Oregon true freshman Tyler Turner showed during his first spring football camp. Today, we continue this series with safety Tyler Turner. Recruit Stats: 4-star prospect / 354th-rated overall prospect /34th-rated safety Height/Weight: 6-foot / 180 pounds Outlook this fall: One of two prep safeties to arrive in time for spring, Turner's first months on campus appear to have been productive ones. His position coach Chris Hampton referred to Turner as "fearless" and said he has the makings of a leader on the back-end. The freshman didn't record any stats in the spring game though, and it would be a surprise if he plays often on defense this fall. The team returns two battle-tested safeties in Steve Stephens IV and Bryan Addison and has also added transfers Evan Williams and Tysheem Johnson to the room too. Because of that, there won't likely be a spot in the two-deep for either freshmen safety in 2023. Federal Government Looking to Regulate NIL? Good!
NJDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Since we're on the subject of NIL, thought I will add this as well. I agree, guidelines need to be created. Why college football is entering a 'golden age' with NIL deals Ask college football fans about their thoughts on name, image and likeness (NIL) in collegiate athletics, and you will likely get a mixed bag of responses. Some are in favor of it, some are against it, and others — like FOX Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt — believe its both great that college athletes are able to capitalize on it, but acknowledge that there are still plenty of issues to work out. "NIL has created a golden age of college football and I believe we are at the dawn of that golden age," Klatt said on a recent episode of his podcast, "The Joel Klatt Show." "College football has never been better." Klatt's reasoning for calling this the "golden age" is due to the depth of talent in the sport. Athletes being able to capitalize on NIL has created an incentive for top-notch players to return to college as opposed to making an early jump to the NFL. Why college football is entering a 'golden age' with NIL deals WWW.FOXSPORTS.COM Joel Klatt explains why name, image and likeness has created a golden age of college football due to the depth of talent in the sport.
