Regarding question #1- I don't see any correlation. Agree that its wins and losses and direction of the program.

Can't argue much with this. Now just keep it rolling and good things will happen.

Chip's 4th down aggression almost always came with a tactical advantage of speed and personnel. It was usually short yardage when the defense still had nickel and dime personnel on the field. The offense knew the play call based on the situation and executed quickly.
I had the Ducks losing one game on the road this year and I figured it would be Washington. Every goal remains achievable this year and no contender has beaten another contender on the road yet. Ducks will run the table and make the playoff. Payback in the PAC-12 title game will be sweet when media will be singing the Washington praise and Penix for Heisman. It will resemble the Colorado beat down.
Hope you are correct and if so will you provide stock tips?

And (hopefully) the Ducks will be very motivated by their loss.
Nothing is a given in the P12 this year and I think we knew that going in.

Just a little insight on Jon Wilner. He was the beat writer at the San Jose Mercury News for Stanford. Harbaugh loathed him when he was the HC there. He wanted Stanford to strip his press credentials but they could not. He literally used to follow Harbaugh around the facility in hopes of getting a ‘scoop’.
During his time at Stanford which coincided with Chip’s time at Oregon, Wilner loathed Chip. Don’t know specifics but just know he did not like him at all.
Harbaugh leaves and goes to the Niners and guess who becomes one of the 49er beat guys? Yep, good ole Jon. Harbaugh obviously had greater leverage with the 49ers than at Stanford so they gave him limited media access. Jon was known among the press corp as Jim’s lap dog.
He then went back to college football but he was not well liked among the sports press in the Bay Area.

Chip Kelly was an aggressive play caller at U of O. He was 4 and 0 against our hated rivals from the north.
When does aggressive cross the line to wreck less?
Chip coached at a time when the P12 was far less competitive. Just adding for context.

I work with people who have too much gusto and those without. I will take those who have too much and tone them down over firing up somebody who is lacking all day.
We had somebody who spoke like a champion, but had little of the inner fire power needed. We now have a guy who has too much real chutzpah, and I love it!
The thing he said in the interview is he has to review what he did, and the end of the half decision was something he needs to look at. I think we have a guy who is aware, and able to adjust. Maybe not fast enough to quell the old guard, but he has 'it,' and nobody can deny that.
This post is spot on.

This loss is on Dan Cristobal. Take the points.
Disappointing to see this.

JRW- I will respectfully disagree. I want passion. I don't want Helfrich.

Totally agree Massduck and appreciate the maturity on this board. Scanning a few boards and there are many calling for Lanning's firing.
Are there some things Dan would do differently? I am sure, and this will grind at him till they take the field next week. It always amazes me how many folks get irrational over things.
Glad for the decency on this board.

I feel better than I usually do after a loss, I think we confirmed we're a top-10 team, whether we're a playoff team we'll find out over rest of the year. Proud of the way they got their nose back in front, just feels like Lanning let his boys down with his over-confidence in them, if that makes sense. Sometimes you have to be the adult and say when to just simply take the points.
I'm sure the players will feel like Lanning believes in them, that they had it in their hands, and then let it go. Just sucks to lose that way. Probably most disappointed that we seem to only be trying to kick a field goal at the end instead of being aggressive and going for the win. I don't think you can be confident in Lewis from anything longer than 35 yards, even from there I'm expecting a coin toss.
Great post. Rational and reasonable.

I no longer watch Gameday. It’s become old, stale, tired and predictable. The Corso headgear thing has become trite. I get the students like it but it’s time to refresh that show.
Reece Davis and Desmond Howard hate the Ducks and if Oregon were playing the Lane County School of Cosmetology they would pick the Fighting Cosmetologists.

Whew- hope these folks are right.

I've learned to read very little of what emanates from the north. And their social media posts are drenched in so much hyperbole and vitriol that I just learned to waste no energy reading them.

Here's one key not in Mari(o)'s playbook.
When the Ducks are leading with 40 seconds or less left, knell down Bo, knell down!
Very thankful Mario is not here. His game plan for this one would be nothing more than runs plays up the middle and on a rare occasion a run left or right and impose our physicality at the LOS.

Perhaps this is why they are getting Jeffers on the field-finally? They need speed to cover the hook zones...
Hope he plays. I was thinking they help him out at Stanford so to ensure he is fully good to go.

Love reading all the optimistic stuff here. I wish I could say it is quelling my nerves.

The old axiom applies here: 'They are not jealous of what you have. They are jealous of what they can't have'.

Agree about 'Win the Day' but again it was most closely equated with Chip and I understand why they don't use it. Each coach wants to put their trademark on things. I love one thing Dan really harps on which is to 'play the game NOT the occasion' (I sure hope they remember that on Saturday and not get caught up in the hype). I think they will and one key factor, Nix is very mature. Not saying Penix is not as well but Bo definitely has a level of maturity in him that I think fuels that team.

Seems as though there was a kerfuffle yesterday amongst some in the fan base because Dorlus was not seen at practice and that certainly piqued everyone's attention. The good news, he WAS there today and was a full go so perhaps was something with school.

Mario has certainly taken the hits in the media. He still is not fully owning it. In a slightly veiled attempt to accept a slight bit of blame he did say they should have taken a knee and he should have overruled the play call. He will never change. He is the head coach and fancies himself the CEO of the organization.
Makes me wonder if the team will recover and more importantly if they will respect him. He preaches culture and family yet just can't live by his own mantra.
Wonder what John Ruiz thinks of his investment now. Then again John has other urgent matters that are probably consuming his time.

It Might Be Ugly - WSU on Saturday
in Our Beloved Ducks
Posted
Was talking with a Coug friend of mine and he told me there are some rumblings of issues surrounding the team at the moment. Many in the fan base think Dickert is seriously interviewing for the MSU job. They are pretty certain he will jump at the end of the season. Certainly the current issues with WSU (and OS) are they key factors in that decision making process I am sure.
Not saying this game won't be a challenge because it will but something to consider.
