  1. 34-20 Oregon 0 turnovers 1 sack 206 yards passing
  2. I feared the worst…and then I saw the source. Rich Neuheisel
  3. I am not sure it has to be an all or nothing “black ball” approach. The conference can put the LA school on their football schedule, but deny them games for water polo, volleyball, croquet, etc. Denying them in football won’t hurt them financially, it will be the sum total of all the other sports (think title IX). Marsh, I am hoping that the ACC merges with the PAC to forms some sort of the Atlantic Pacific Conference. The merge could increase both conferences media revenues, and isolate the LA schools. They could have pods tied into regions and further increase revenue by minimizing travel expenses. Also, add a semi final and conference championship and the tv executives would be drooling. I am not sold on non conference cross over games. I am not sure any other cross over games really matter financially (think Wake Forest at Oregon St.). I don’t think tv executives are licking their chops at that marquee match up. Could something like this lure UCLA back? The conference certain needs a LA market school…don’t they?
  4. Mic, I think you’re onto something. Lanning has shown the tendency to surround himself with familiarity.
  5. So with Dillingham’s name allegedly emerging for head coaching position (e.g ASU), I was thinking to myself, “who would the Ducks target as their next offensive coordinator?” I entertained the idea of Mark Helfrich…after all, Chip had such high praise for him as his coordinator. But as I thought about that possibility, it occurred to me that actions do speak louder than words; and old Chip never did extend an offer for Helfich to assist with the Bruins offense. Additionally, Helfrich’s offensive unit did exactly light it up for the Bears (ranked 29th). So, who would be a good get if Dillingham moves on?
  6. Pulling for the Dawgs (unfortunately), but I think Chip gets it done. I hope I am wrong though, I would real like to see Washington first, and lone, lose come at the hands of the Ducks.
  7. If streaming is what it takes to increase revenue for the conference, sign me up. Anything to avoid a move to the Big 10, which is seemingly inevitable. Although maybe not with the playoffs expanding. Canzano points out that the PAC’s lone asset maybe it’s time zone, however I feel it also hinders the conferences marketability. The conference needs to expand into Big XII territory and swoop up some selected candidates. It sounds as if they were going that route prior to USC AD derailing expansion talk, and then soon thereafter bolting for the Big 10. Unfortunately, it’s a delicate issue because you don’t want too many mouths a the table to fed. Who knows though, with the right combination of teams, it might move the financial needle far enough to bring UCLA back to our table Especially, considering that South Alabama game last week and the fact that they would be the lone LA market in the conference.
  8. I am not sure the loss of Flowe, if he were to miss, would be a crippling loss for us. It certainly didn’t hinder the team last year at Ohio St. He has all the physical attributes, but his play has yet to match the expectations/hype. That might be an unfair statement considering he’s played in only a handful of games in a Duck uniform. Nonetheless, I hope the young man can stay healthy.
  9. As Wilner states “The comment was vague enough that it could have been taken as a reference to ESPN’s digital arm. Or to Peacock (NBC) or Paramount+ (CBS). And Kliavkoff hasn’t uttered a public peep about his media strategy since then.” I really appreciates how Kliavkoff is calculated. He hasn’t made any knee jerk decisions such as adding additional schools and exploring various media platforms. He may very well adds schools and jump on board with Amazon, but at least it is calculated as opposed to reactionary. Had he been the commissioner a few years earlier, Texas and Oklahoma might be in the Pac-12.
  10. There is a sense that Nebraska is so desperate to right the ship, that they might be willing to give Urban everything he wants. Does Urban want the challenge of a rebuild at this juncture of his life? Time will tell
  11. While I'll concede that the ranking mean very little at this point, I hate the inconsistent of the polls. Why does a programs like Wisconsin historically get placed highly in the polls, and then when WSU takes them down, WSU is hardly rewarded in the polls? In fact, Penn St. is rank higher than WSU, when they've beaten no one of significance. Then, you have Texas A & M still remains in the polls, while the team they lost to doesn't appear in the polls. One thing I did agree with is Texas sliding into rankings. Most of these issues will get ironed out in time...still early for the voters to figure it out. I watched that WSU game, and its going to be a battle...they're all heart.
  12. I am confused as to why this was flagged. Flowe takes less than two steps after running 10 plus yards at full speed. No head contact. What did I miss?
  13. A lot people taking shots at Bo, but he didn't cost the Ducks the game. To me, the bigger problem is the defense; they got out coached and out played, which was real surprising consider the talent and the staff (that 9-9 3rd down conversion rate for Georgia's starters is unheard of). A bit of a head-scratcher...McDuck might have unearthed a interesting tid bit about Lupoi.
  14. I know our beloved Duck just got annihilated, and the defeat is a little deflating -as many were anticipating a little better showing that what just transpired. However, I am cautiously optimistic from what I just saw on both sides of the ball. Offensively, I am a bit bias because anything is better than what we were forced to watch under the previous staff (the dreaded pistol plunge). It appears that this staff will indeed be more balanced as witnessed by the 21 passes versus the 23 run (I didn't account for Nix's 8 rushes because some were scrambles). I loved the pre-snap shifts, but I wish they would narrow down the running back rotation (don't foresee that because Dillingham method of operation). Defensively, early I saw a pass rush, unfortunately it didn't come from the defensive front. I thought they would play a bigger role, and they really struggled to set the edge. I thought Georgia did a great job offensively. Tackling is a concerning, but after today's game, no opponent will be able to match Georgia' team speed. I was expecting the corner to get torched, and they held up for the most part (at least better than I thought). The middle of the field was wide open, that must be addressed, but a lot of that has to be credit with Georgia's tight ends. Just one man's opinion after a very small sample size. You never know, next week Oregon might lose to Eastern Washington and then I will be burning an effigy of Lanning in my front yard. Time will only tell, but I think Lanning is going to be something special.
  15. I am seeing RED again...it feels/looks like Utah all over. Joking aside, this says more about Georgia that Oregon. Georgia is elite...Oregon a work in progress. For Oregon, everything is still in front of them for the year. Nothing more will be loss on the season other than this game Offensive is moving the ball, I know the defense will come around.
  16. I recognize that the playoff expansion appears to create momentary stability to the Pac-12 and Oregon. However, the 'Conference of Champions" will dissolve if/when the BigTen makes another raid from our ranks. That raid will most likely include the acquisition of Oregon, which would create the stability most associated with the university are seeking. However, the thought of this scenario unfold is upsetting, and I hope that another path emerges for the university. The last thing I want to see is for Oregon to go to the BigTen, which will alleviate travel concerns of the two school that bolted for 'green pasture$' earlier this summer. I want to see those schools budget trips for men's and women's water polo, tennis, basketball, etc. That will eat away from the revenue increase. Furthermore, I don't want to see Oregon help the BigTen conference create its 'west wing' and gain a media monopoly on Saturdays, with games starting at 9am and run all the way 7pm on all the major tv networks. If/when Oregon invited to join they would be playing out the very narrative that the BigTen conceived. Oregon can strike a blow at the BigTen, USC, and UCLA by not being reactionary. I know, its just a 'pipe dream', but I would love nothing more than Oregon would help initiate the creation of a third power conference. Unite the best university from the ACC, PAC, and Big XII. I realize a lot of dominos would have to fall in order, such Clemson, Florida St., Miami all shunning an impending invitation from a very seductive SEC. But with a merger of the top colleges from the ACC, PAC, and Big XII, I would think that money from media outlets would dramatically increase for all members. The questions would then be, would it be enough. If the answer is yes, then that might be enough to keep the elite ACC teams out of the SEC since the pathway to playoff would be much easier. Like I said...just a 'pipe dream.' I would hate to see the Pac-12 die with the Ducks moving to the BigTen. I realize it can't survive much longer, so I would much rather it merge and blossom into something new.
