  1. I’m not convinced an Oregon win will do it for our Ducks?

But in a very real sense, a UCLA win, and a home win against USC, leaves UCLA with the following:

Road win against number 10 Oregon

Home  win against number 6 USC

Home win against then # 12 Utah

That’s very possible.  And that equals a first round playoff game against SEC champion.

I imagine Chip is aware of this.  As well as his team.

I thought this as well.  I thought Kelly should have kicked a field goal instead of running it up the middle.  This is something Charles pointed out, I did not catch in that championship game with Auburn.

If you look at the attached play below, our RB took the wrong path to the end zone.  He should have ran where it was blocked well to the outside.  It would have been a TD and a different outcome to that game.  Great designed play to the outside, our RB made the wrong choice.

    Good point.  Thank you

The same could be said about them needing to stop O's running game, couldn't it?  Yeah, I think so.

The 'X' factor here would be: Who knows an Offense like ours better than Chip Kelly?

The 'Y' factor here would be: Who knows how to stop (or counter) an Offense like theirs better than Dan Lanning?

It's going to be an interesting afternoon, that's for sure.

You have a valid point.  It goes both ways.  I just think they have a NFL ready running back.  And it will be harder for us.

He gained 198 against Utah, and they are known for stopping the run.  But I think we are getting better each week.

This game will answer many questions.

I have not looked forward to a game this much since the FSU game years ago!

    Go Ducks

I agree cancer awareness is always a good idea.

Besides new uniforms have been a positive attraction for Oregon fans across the nation.  Recruits from DAT to this year's commits love the styles Oregon is known for!

    I love it.

I wasn’t even aware there was such a thing as cancer until Oregon decided to wear pink uniforms.  I’m sure it’s not a marketing ploy by Nike.

In my view, the Ducks have looked very good since week one. I could actually see them running he table but will not be shocked if they don't. UCLA and Utah look legit to me and SC could loom  in a title game.

If I had  to guess, I'd bet that the Ducks end up in a New Year's 6 bowl. Someone in this conference is going to have to be ranked a lot higher to make the playoffs. One of the teams is going to have to become dominant for that to happen I think.

UCLA spanked Washington and Utah.  If they beat us at Oregon They will be top 5 with nobody to stop them.  USC is one dimensional, and they play  at UCLA.

I look for UCLA to be ranked #9, and us to be #10 by game day.

And I expect to see Game Day in Eugene.

  6. When we played Auburn and lost 21to 18 it was a heartbreak.  A game in which Chip’s ego cost  us a title.  Even Nick Satan new you couldn’t run on Auburns line!

What was seldom talked about was our defense that  year.  We held Auburn to 21 points.  They hung 28 on Alabama, just a few weeks earlier, in just one half.

When I see that kind of defensive attitude here again I will say we’re back.  And Chip never had 4 and 5 star defensive recruits like Lanning has to work with.

We will be facing a top three running back in two weeks and I think he’s faster, and better, than Royce was.

if we stop UCLA’s run, we can win a shoot out.
If not, it’s going to be a long day.

Their two 'tough' tests have both been at home, unlike Oregon who's had all their toughest tests out there on the road.  When UCLA beats us or a team like us on the road, then I'll give them a nod.  They certainly have the right coach to get them there but so do we.

They made UTAH look like a  B team.  The game was over mid way through third quarter. Any team that can do that better be taken seriously.

UCLA has a solid physical RB, a good passing game with an experienced QB. They are a formidable opponent.

Add in an improved and successful run defense and UCLA has good reason to concern Duck fans.

This like every game is just another test of the coaches and players. I trust the process. The Ducks are getting better.

So far the Ducks are best at running the ball and stopping the run. That usually matters a lot.

I think this game once again comes down to the Ducks needing above average man coverage and a meaningful pass rush. Both offenses will score points.

Offensively the secondary, like Oregon, is the perceived weakest area for UCLA and Bo needs to be smart and accurate and take advantage of that.

Running the ball well opens the passing game up and with Bo’s running ability in the forefront of Dilly's mind there are innumerable ways to exploit any weakness. The Ducks are explosive and versatile as a result.

I think this week is football 101.  Run the ball, stop the run, pressure the QB. Good on Good

This team is the same players but a very different team from week one. UCLA will be another great measuring stick. Let’s just hope the Ducks aren’t beat with that stick.

UCLA’s running back will go in first or second round of NFL draft.  I think he’s the best back in college football.

This feed and the many before it, whether the feed specifically focused on Ty or Bo transferring into Oregon, shows that OBDFans are really pulling hard for Ty to be successful.

So many of us seem to be emotionally invested in this young mans success. I am hoping Ty doesn't wash out and gets to lead this team to great things in the future.

I do as well.  But he has the mannerisms of a young man who leaving ASAP.   We have too many blue chip QB’s.  If I am a five star and I don’t start I find a team who will use me.  Simple as that.  I would be there to make money and a name.   College now is semi pro with people getting paid to play.

Chip is a very good coach.  He raised the bar while in Eugene.  Went to the NFL, Philly had success but not like at Oregon.  Oregon was stacked with teachers that developed.  He has not had that since he left the Ducks.

This year, like last year, he has got a good group of players.  I just do not think he has the depth, like the ducks have.  Oregon, has some teachers, are they as good as the ones that helped Chip?  This Head Coach is better than Chip.  He is the CEO, Chip never has been.  I believe we will find that out, this year.

    Chip changed college football.

Chip took three stars, and no stars, to National Championship games.

Lanning has a bit to prove before he can be considered better than Chip IMO.

    But hope you are right!

At this point I think UCLA has the inside track for a PAC 12 Championship game over USC. Based on what I have seen on the field. The good thing for the Ducks is they play UCLA and Utah at home.

Psychology speaking, we need to beat them both.

Two weeks ago, I thought that then 4-0 UCLA was likely a pretender. I also said that I thought they might likely be 4-3 after 7 games.

    I was wrong.

    42-25 UCLA with 9:26 in the 4th.

It was actually my brother two weeks ago.  He said UCLA has the best all around team.

My family still think that Oregon has most talent, but we’re young.

I would LOVE to be in Eugene when UCLA cones to town.

    1. Arizona is not the worst team in college football, not by a mile.  (You could make that case for Colorado though)

    2. You are welcome to do as you please, but I am a loyal fan no matter what.  I have resolved to have this forum for Oregon fans through it all, as loyalty is not a virtue for nothing.

    3. Oregon has a winning Baseball team for those who want to follow Our Beloved Ducks.

    3. If you apply this same approach later as a Beaver fan....doesn't that mean you will be back?  😅

Lol.  I will vent to my dog next time.

I hate Arizona more than most in here hate Washington.  I was there with my kid when Arizona demolished Mariota and the Ducks.

Kadeem ran over the top of us for over 200 yards.  So they ARE the worst team to ever play the game.

But don't misunderstand Debbie, a lot of us like the Beavers too, esp. their accomplishments on the baseball diamond.  Not being an Oregon alumni, I can feel this way.  Oregon alumni, maybe not so easy for them to root for the Beavers.

Ya. I’m a graduate of Eastern Oregon
