NJDuck Moderator No. 13 Share Posted August 4, 2023 This is a head scratcher. Why would you do this? It seems like the Big Ten is willing to take care of traveling cost by upping it to 40m. Oregon, Washington to Big Ten has become 'coin toss' as Pac-12 makes last attempt to salvage league The Pac-12 is meeting Friday morning as optimism grows that the league could stay together The chances of Oregon and Washington joining the Big Ten has now been termed a "coin toss" sources told CBS Sports on Friday morning. Following an evening filled with uncertainty, at least one of those two programs is wavering with a move out of the Pac-12 -- seemingly over financial reasons. CBS Sports learned Thursday night that Washington had concerns over additional travel costs the athletic program would face in journeying to Big Ten locations. Those increased financial obligations could total more than $10 million per year for the university, sources say. QuackAttack No. 34 Share Posted August 4, 2023 Please tell me the Piled Higher & Deeper knuckleheads aren't going to just postpone the inevitable! As much as I wanted the PAC to stay together, it makes no sense to be on a streaming- only service. I won't subscribe. How did the DirectTV thing go? So, the PAC stays together for another 5-7 years, then what? If they split now, they will make more money and not fall further behind, even if you only get partial shares for awhile. Damn mutts, they had to start whining about not getting enough money. If this thing falls apart and the conference lags behind financially and eventually collapses, every president should be tossed and lose their fat pensions that the people of each state pay! NJDuck Moderator No. 47 Share Posted August 4, 2023 Pac-12 meeting ends without new Grant of Rights deal as Oregon future is in focus, per reports What began as an optimistic morning for the future of the Pac-12 has left the conference back to the same place it was earlier this week: Waiting on Oregon, and possibly Washington, to make a decision. The Pac-12 couldn’t close a Grant of Rights deal during a meeting of university leaders on Friday morning, and the “fate of league likely rests on if Oregon can make a deal with the Big Ten. There is hesitancy among many in Big Ten about logistics of 18 team league, travel to Eugene,” Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports reported.
