He's a good opposite to the LB's already committed to the class, they're long and rangy types while he's a bigger thumper at 240lbs yet still has speed.  Should be a lot of fun watching him develop under DL!

Ducks jump up recruiting rankings following commitment from 4-star LB Brayden Platt

As the 2023 college football season got underway, the recruiting world for the Oregon Ducks has taken a back seat as far as the public news cycle has gone for fans.

That changed on Monday night, though, as Dan Lanning and the Ducks landed one of their top prospects in the 2024 class — 4-star linebacker Brayden Platt, the top-ranked player in the state of Washington.

Platt is rated by 247Sports as the No. 8 LB in the class, and the No. 72 overall player. He is now the third linebacker that Oregon has gotten a commitment from in this cycle.

Coming into Monday, the Ducks had the 14th-ranked recruiting class in the nation, but that number got better with the addition of Platt.

Check out where they now rank...

Oregon lands Top 100 and four-star linebacker Brayden Platt

Yelm (Wash.) linebacker Brayden Platt breaks down his commitment to Oregon...

Platt picked the Ducks from 20 offers, narrowing it down to Oklahoma and Oregon.

But the Ducks had emerged over the last few months, with Platt planning to both play linebacker and do track and field for Oregon.

"I knew it was the place for me on the last official visit and kind of at (USATF) nationals," said Platt.

So Platt let the Oregon coaches know he was in.

7 2024 B1G teams in the Top 25. Oregon and USC. No UCLA and UW? I'm shocked!

This is the 23rd verbal for the 2024 class which is now the 3rd best ever class at Oregon. (Lanning had the No. 2 class last year with 16 of the 4/5-Star players on Rivals)

Platt makes the 15th player who is 4 or 5-Stars on Rivals, with a long ways to go before December signing date.  Will Lanning pass the all-time record of 19? This moves the Ducks up to No. 7 in the nation at Rivals.  Whew!

QUAAAACK: Four-star LB Brayden Platt commits to Oregon over Oklahoma

Oregon's top-10 2024 recruiting class grew by one more Monday, and it was a commitment that was a long time in the making.

Four-star linebacker Brayden Platt announced his choice of the Ducks over Oklahoma on Labor Day giving Dan Lanning's defense its third four-star commit at the position in the cycle.

Platt built an impressive offer list throughout his recruitment with many of the top programs from around the country pursuing the 6-foot-2 senior from Yelm, Washington.

Ultimately, he narrowed his choices to the Ducks and Sooners, and now he will be staying close to home to play for Oregon as the program prepares to move to the Big Ten next year.

That conference move could be a perfect fit for the 245-pound Platt, who had already been examining options in that league before Oregon announced its move. Platt's previous top list included programs such as UCLA, USC and Michigan among several others from around the country.

I am not sure Ducks would've gotten Platt without going to the B1G!
