Wowsa. THIS is Why Oregon is Beating USC for Recruiting Defensive Players...

Recommended Posts

As I believe....we have a defensive brain-trust between Coaches Lanning, Lupoi and Hampton.  Think of it...all three were Defensive Coordinators at prior programs.

Count our blessings!

In the current 2024 B1G recruiting rankings, Oregon is 2nd behind tOSU and SC is 9th. UW 13 and UCLA 16.

Lincoln Riley hasn’t demonstrated anything to me beyond attracting good college QB’s. Seems to me that Oklahoma is already better without him as a head coach.

Interestingly, Oklahoma’s coach Venables is a defensive guy as well.

That's an interesting point.  I wonder though how many players Oklahoma has on their roster that Riley brought in?

If Ducks fans want USC to flounder that ought to hope either Riley stays a long time at USC or Kliff Kingsbury gets the job.

It might be the era of the return of the defensive minded head coaches.

Smart is also a defensive guy.

The pendulum is swinging back to defense.

In this era of offenses lighting up the score board there are 2 ways of beating these high powered offensive teams. Either out score them with lots of points in a shoot out or defend them enough to slow them down.

Not to mention both DL and Tosh have national championship rings as DCs.  I don't think any other team can make this boast.
