Big Recruiting Push for 2024 Class Coming Up

Recommended Posts

What to Expect From Oregon Between Now and the Early Signing Period

The Ducks have the No. 6 class in 2024 and are pushing for a top-five finish.

We're officially one month away from the early signing period. The Ducks have the No. 6 class in the country and there's still some big targets on their board.

Let's check in on where things are at and what Oregon fans can expect between now and the early signing period.

Between now and the early signing period Oregon will have one big weekend where they try to bring in as many verbal commits as they can, along with their top remaining uncommitted targets.

Commits are often times your best recruiters, so one could see the obvious value there. I would expect this weekend to come in December, probably the 14th through the 16th.

It's also worth noting that if Oregon makes the Pac-12 title game they won't be in Eugene to host recruits the first weekend of December.

Obviously they want to be playing in Las Vegas, but that would make the following weeks that much more important.

It a small price to pay for a chance to win a championship - The LAST Pac-12 Championship.  That should boost recruiting.

You are correct Mic in that they will be in Vegas but the flight from Vegas to Eugene is not a long one and no matter what happens they fly back after the game.   The coaches may leave separately and hit the road to recruit but one way or another the base will be covered.

Oregon Picks Up Two New Predictions to Land Elite DL Jericho Johnson

The Ducks continue to trend for the No. 1 uncommitted defensive lineman in the 2024 class.

2024 Fairfield (Calif.) Armijo defensive lineman Jericho Johnson is continuing to trend to Oregon.

On Wednesday morning, 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman both placed crystal ball predictions for Johnson to commit to Oregon.

Johnson is listed at 6'4", 300 pounds and is one of the best defensive linemen on the in the country, earning distinction as an Adidas All-American.

A source confirmed to Ducks Digest on Tuesday that he will visit Oregon this weekend for the Ducks' rivalry game against Oregon State. The trip will be an unofficial visit.

I placed my prediction for Oregon to land Jericho Johnson on October 3...

It’s obvious that Lanning and Lupoi believe that having a disruptive defensive line is critical to having an elite defense with how they are recruiting.

However, the number of D-line recruits both this year and last makes me wonder if they are stocking up talent to prevent other teams (e.g., USC, Washington) from getting these studs. Bring them in and let the cream rise to the top.

The 2025 crop of defensive linemen on the west coast is thin, thus loading up now while you can and let the others fight for crumbs makes sense.

That makes sense. However, I’m sure our coaches will go coast to coast to recruit blue chip defensive lineman in the 2025 class.

It appears that Oregon has high interest from 3 2025 4-Star DTs from Illinois and 3 4-Star DEs from Kansas, Ohio and Maryland. I’m sure that they’ll be more.

There is little chance that Oregon coaches turn away high 4 star or 5 star talent that fits what they are looking for, IMHO.

Oregon Football Recruiting Visitor List vs. Oregon State

The Ducks are taking advantage of another home game to host top recruits.

The No. 6 Oregon Ducks will face the No. 16 Oregon State Beavers on Friday in their final rivalry matchup as members of the Pac-12.

With the early signing period looming, Oregon is hosting more recruits this weekend, with many of the big names coming in the 2025 classes and beyond. It's going to be a bit of a smaller group in Eugene this weekend due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Some high schools teams are also still playing across the country, which would make a Friday visit difficult...

I don't think this is the case.

What I think Lanning is doing is building depth at very key positions along the O & D lines so he can continue to rotate players in and out for certain situations, to cut down on injuries and to keep fresh bodies in the game.  Remember last year's Civil War game when OSU just flat wore down the Oregon Defensive line and basically ran the ball right down their throats. 27 straight running plays and two ~10 minute drives killed Oregon.

Look for a very different outcome tomorrow night.  Oregon will be doing the wearing down and OSU will be the team exhausted at the end.

Oregon offers the top prospect in the state of Oregon Jayden Fortier

The Oregon Ducks football program just offered one of the top prospects in the Pacific Northwest for the 2024 recruiting class, who also has become the state of Oregon's top-rated prospect.

4-star Tight End prospect Jayden Fortier landed a scholarship offer following the conclusion of his high school career in the Oregon 6A State Championship Game. He announced the offer on Saturday morning.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound tight end is rated as the No. 23 player in the country at the position and the No. 1 prospect within the state of Oregon by 247Sports.

Here is a scouting report on Fortier from 247Sports' Brandon Huffman from back in the middle of October...

Up until Willie and Mari-no-O I was happy with a top 25 recruiting class! Now we know that recruits will go to a place where they're coveted and their egos are massaged! Lanning and crew are doing an amazing job! But their recruiting doesn't stop after the signatures, they show the young men that they are worth the effort and coached up!! Let's GO DUCKS!!

The other recruiting season opens soon. Perhaps a couple of B10 vets to fill a positional need? I can think of a couple.

All eyes are on the Pac-12 Championship on Friday, but the early signing period is less than a month away.

It's a busy time around the Oregon Football program as the Ducks prepare to face the Washington Huskies in the Pac-12 title game on Friday.

Behind the scenes the Oregon staff is still pushing hard for a number of recruits to round out their 2024 recruiting class, which ranks sixth nationally in the eyes of 247Sports.

Let's dive into another edition of Torres' Take and get caught up with all things Oregon on the recruiting trail...

The Latest With Oregon and Boise State WR Commit Gatlin Bair

Bair took a recent visit to Eugene for the USC game and his recruitment is getting interesting.

The early signing period is approaching next month, which means that Oregon is trying to put the finishing touches on a strong 2024 class.

One player that they'd love to add to the fold is Burley (ID) wide receiver Gatlin Bair, who's currently committed to Boise State.

The Ducks hosted Bair for an unofficial earlier this month and I was able to speak with Burley head football coach Cameron Anderson to get the latest details in Bair's recruitment.

With Boise State firing head coach Andy Avalos earlier this month, Anderson commented on Bair's commitment to the Broncos.

"The situation that he has committed to isn't the same situation that's there now. He's been pretty open with the Boise State staff that he was

going to take in the other options that he was comfortable with.

"They've done a really good job of recruiting him," Anderson said when asked about Bair's Oregon interest.

"They didn't really slow down their recruitment when he committed to Boise State. They really didn't slow down at all. They've made it known to him that he's a high priority for them."

One thing that's made this recruitment a special one for the Ducks is the personal involvement of their head coach...

Flux issues.  Transfer Portal chaos.  Head Coaching  uncertainties.  General confusion coupled with sine-wave irregularities magnified by

player gravitations.  U understand: these things take sorting out first.
