Unforeseen QUADRUPLE Payoff Over Next Two Games!

Recommended Posts

For those not on the subscription boards...this buzz is strong about Jonathan Smith leaving for Michigan State.  The newest surprise is Husky Coach Kalen DeBoer, as he is being linked to leaving for Texas A&M if he loses either of the next two games.  If he wins them--it would be five weeks before he would be available, and TAMU wants him immediately.

Wait...how many benefits are there for Oregon fans by Our Beloved Ducks winning the next two games?

--Give the Beavers a loss in the final Pac-12 Civil War

--Knock the Beavers out of the conference championship.

--Put the Ducks into the conference championship.

--Last time we face Jonathan Smith!

--Rip the conference championship from the Huskies.

--No Playoff for Washington.

--Send DeBoer on his way, and never face him again?

--Win the final Pac-12 Championship.

--Get into the final four-team playoff!

Good gosh...how many benefits ARE there for winning these last two?  How glorious it would be!

One could think the combination of DeBoer's coaching and the available recruiting infrastructure at A&M would be a deadly combination, but DeBoer's inability to recruit would need to be addressed in some manner before they would actually offer him.

It would be epic to have played in the first 4 team playoff and the last.

Especially if the final game was against Ohio State and we took them out behind the wood shed and spanked them.

So far, one could say DeBoer has been Lanning's kryptonite.  He's the first coach to beat him twice.  Beating the Beavers will prevent Smith from going the same club.  So there's that.

Getting a rematch with the Dawgs and beating them in Vegas will end any speculation by doubters Dan couldn't beat DeBoer.  I have to think that as focused and unselfish as Dan Lanning seems to be, these little things might be lurking in the recesses of his mind.  He has a golden opportunity to put both of these devils to rest.

The next devil to exorcise will be Kirby Smart.  And like coach Prime once famously remarked "We Be Commin".  The Ducks are Coming.

Crazy to think Jonathon Smith would leave OSU but it makes sense nowadays.  Really glad us Duck folk don't have to worry about any speculation for a long long time!!

Not sure where.  But he did an interview with Canzano and was honest that his agents job, for which he is well compensated, is to find the right opportunity for Jonathan.

Hopefully for Beavs this is leverage for a raise and not a moving van.

If Jonathan Smith takes the MSU job, we’d be facing his team in the B1G.

I personally hope he stays at OSU.

Might be Lanning himself.

Just like he states Oregon opponent is Oregon, Lanning's kryptonite in both ewe dub losses was questionable decisions he made as much as anything else.

I'm hoping he's learning his lessons.  DeBoer has 120 games as a HC behind him.

I am looking forward to the day I can console my Fusky brother. As he slips into the abyss of Fansville depression i can lift his spirits with the fact that the only loss Fusky took was to the National Champs in the conference title game. That should cheer him up.

The beautiful part about these games with UW and OSU?  These are the ones that COUNT, as they can brag about the others, but to win these would deprive them of winning the games that MATTER the most!

There's another one too... Oregon wins both the civil war and the conference.

Oregon holds the last win over EVERYONE from the Pac-12.

Oregon beats OSU and we hold the last win over them for who knows how long.

We beat Washington we own the last win over them in the conference, yeah we'll play them next season but still this one would be a dagger.

And then Oregon has beaten everyone else in the conference upon the last meeting.

The only two teams we didn't play this year were Arizona and UCLA and we beat them both last year.

We can potentially leave the conference with wins over everyone!

Not even an undefeated Husky team can say that!!!! (They lost to UCLA last year and didn't play them this year)

It appears that their running back has stated that he is returning next year.  Would he do that unless he knew the staff would remain?

Ever notice that JS looks just like GRU from the Minions?

Michigan State eyeing top target to replace Mel Tucker

The Michigan State Spartans football team is closing up shop on a drama-filled season that saw former head coach Mel Tucker fired after allegations of sexual harassment surfaced.

Harlon Barnett has replaced Tucker as the Spartans’ head coach, leading the team to a mere 2-7 record. He is not an option for the full-time gig as Michigan State Athletic Director Alan Haller searches for a full-time option.

According to this note from John Brice of Football Scoop, Haller and Co. have one primary target in mind. Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith has emerged as a top option in East Lansing.

The report goes on to note that MSU has also spoken to Mike Elko from Duke, Toledo’s Jason Candle, North Carolina State’s Dave Doeren and Pat Narduzzi of Pittsburgh.

Michigan State is said to be eyeing a top Pac-12 head coach for its head coach opening after the firing of Mel Tucker.

First thought that came into my head, as well.

Not sure how much change it would be for Smith compared to the Beavz.

I wonder if this will impact how Oregon State plays on Friday.  We all saw Oregon's two thrashings to Utah with the Mario Cristobal to Miami chatter.  If he were focused on the Oregon job, we might have seen a different result in the Pac-12 championship game.

That's one of the reasons that I was glad that Dan Lanning shut down the Texas A&M talk, right away!
