Another player I just can't get enthused about is Cam Ward.  Not that he's not a good QB.  I just don't see this as a good fit.

Dillon Gabriel would be a really interesting get, in Will Stein's offense he would turn into a monster.

Wow! Ohio State starting QB McCord is in the portal. He has to know that Ryan Day is looking for someone to portal in with more athleticism and upside than McCord. The 2nd string QB will be playing for the Buckeyes vs. Mizzou.

I was also surprised to see Oklahoma's Dillon Gabriel in the portal. A Hawaiin who grew up idolizing Marcus Mariota.

UGA backup QB Vandergriff is in the portal and is well-known by Coach Lanning.

Lots of talent will be available and with CFB free agency portal picking properly is right up there with recruiting.

I've been telling my doomsday extended family members for months now that Oregon will get an elite QB that started at their P5 school, and it's looking like that will be the case. I'm sorry, but Ty Thompson is never going to be our preferred QB1, and no, Cam Ward might not be good enough for the Ducks.

If Oregon strikes out on elite QB's and winds up with B+ Cam Ward, that will be fine.  Ty Thompson is not a B+ QB. He has no field general presence.

Oregon Offers Clemson Safety Andrew Mukuba in the Transfer Portal

The Ducks have quickly gotten to work retooling their roster for the 2024 season following Friday's loss in the Pac-12 Championship.

The transfer portal has only been open for two days and the Ducks are quickly looking for new players to add for the 2024 season.

On Tuesday, Oregon extended an offer to Clemson safety transfer Andrew Mukuba.

Ty hasn't gotten the meaningful minutes with the ones to make such a definitive claim. IMO

With the 2's Ty is compleating 77% of his passes, has 4 TD and his one INT isn't on him. He is also avg 6 yrds per rush. Dude is 6'4" 225lbs.

Players on the team claim a different narrative and say he is a Dude. Ty is going to ball out somewhere, if not at Oregon I hope it's not in the B1G.

I'm trending on agreement here.  Next season we get our first REAL good look at his future as the Duck's starting QB.  But I wouldn't be adverse to seeing someone like Bo coming in to compete for the starting role against Ty and Austin both.  Oregon has a favorable 1st-year schedule in this new league they've entered.  Must not waste it.

The former 5-star cornerback is leaving the Bulldogs

2021 5* DB who was valuable on special teams and in occasional backup role in the secondary. He was the #2 CB and #19 overall player in the 2021 cycle.

Assuming that DL recruited him initially to UGA, I would think that there is a relationship there and OBD might offer him a spot. He has two years of eligibility left. Likely a plug and play CB.

Oregon Ducks Extending Offers in the Transfer Portal

The Ducks are exploring their options in the portal to retool their roster for the 2024 season.

The Oregon Ducks are doing their homework in the transfer portal this offseason.

With the Ducks set to lose key players at quarterback, defensive line, wide receiver and safety, we're starting to see some scholarship offers go out.

There are probably more than those that have been announced publicly over social media, but we're starting to see some get sent out to players across the country.

The relationships that DL cultivated during his time at Georgia are paying off in the portal. Bringing in Bo initially, then Jackson, Johnson, Burch and Jacobs on the defensive side have reaped big benefits. Ditto the relationships the position coaches have and the Bo-Tez connection.

Even if a recruit initially opts to sign elsewhere, when portal time comes around they remember who wanted them and how much success they could have under that coach and system.

Nolen is a prime example of the elite player once sought after by DL for his NC winning defense at Georgia. You've got to like Oregon's chances at landing yet another difference maker on the D-line.

The portal (and NIL) is now a fact of life in CFB. Might as well embrace it and utilize it to put OBD in the NC picture every year.

This one IMHO is quietly important.  We need a replacement for Evan Bennett and Andrew could be it.

Predicting Landing Spots for Biggest Names in the 2023 Transfer Portal

Walter Nolen, Defensive Tackle

hapvjdakqhw6stkr90z6.jpg

The top player in this year's transfer portal just so happens to be the same guy who was the top overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.

During that cycle, the 5-star from Memphis, Tennessee, who played his high school senior season in Knoxville decided to play his college ball at Texas A&M for Jimbo Fisher. And after working his way into the rotation as a freshman, he began to blossom this year.

He's a huge player at 6'4", 285 pounds, but he still possesses incredible athleticism at that size and can get after quarterbacks aggressively from the center of the line. He finished his sophomore season with 37 tackles, including 8.5 for a loss, and four sacks.

"Disrupter" is a great way to describe Nolen, and many teams around the nation want him, even if it likely will be for just one season before he leaves early for the NFL.

Steve Wiltfong and Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported Nolen visited Oregon this weekend and Ole Miss will get the next shot at him. They also noted Alabama, Florida, Texas and USC were trying to get in the mix, and while Tennessee was mentioned early on, there isn't a lot of buzz surrounding the Vols right now.

The Ducks are normally very active and aggressive in the portal, but will Nolen head that far away from home to play his college ball? If the Crimson Tide and Longhorns get firmly in the mix, both programs would be a threat, and Lane Kiffin is a top-tier recruiter.

For now, though, let's roll with Dan Lanning.

Prediction: Oregon

Oregon Reportedly Hosting 5-Star Quarterback Transfer After Landing Dillon Gabriel

Oregon is hosting another top quarterback in the transfer portal after landing former Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel.

Per On3's Pete Nakos, UCLA transfer quarterback Dante Moore is going to visit Oregon starting on Thursday. Oregon is trying to land him so the program can develop him next to Gabriel.

Moore just wrapped up his freshman season at UCLA. In nine games, Moore completed 53.5% of his passes for 1,610 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

He committed to UCLA as part of its 2023 recruiting class and was the top player in his home state (Michigan), plus the fifth-best recruit in the country, per 247Sports composite rankings

Oregon is trying to revamp its quarterback room since Bo Nix is set to be in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Ducks won 11 games this year and will try and make it 12 in the Fiesta Bowl against the Liberty Flames on Jan. 1.
