Charles Fischer Administrator No. 2 Share Posted September 29 I wanted to pin this thread begun by HDuck, (thank you) because it really relates not only us all, but for me--it has been a gut-punch. The creator of the local Oregon sports magazine, "Fighting Ducks Illustrated" and Oregon football equipment manager back in the 70s...and movie-maker Jerry Thompson died of cancer a few weeks ago. Jerry and I worked together over the last 13 years promoting each others endeavors, and he has been a good friend to me. He loved Oregon Baseball as much as I, and we had great bitching, or great hooting sessions over the phone about the recent Duck Diamond exploits. He also wrote articles for FishDuck.com, and featured my analysis articles often in his magazine. He cared so much about Our Beloved Ducks, and for everyone in his sphere and truly was "one-of-the-good-guys." He was loved, and will be remembered. He made an impact... 2 2 1 6 Mr. FishDuck

I think I bought one of his movies about apostle Paul in Oregon. Loved it. Sorry for your loss Charles. Good friends are priceless. 1 1
Annie No. 5 Share Posted September 29 His wife is a Daisy Duck, so I had heard this sad news. He was a speaker at Daisies more than once, and sometimes came by with a stack of Fighting Ducks Illustrated. He had tried to sell the magazine, but with no luck. He and his magazine will be greatly missed. 1

I just found your write up from 2018 about Jerry's movie "Tranlated." Frankly, I had never heard of it, but I just found it for free on the Roku Channel and I'm looking forward to watching it tonight. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. He sounds like a very wonderful person and someone I would have liked to have known.
Drake Moderator No. 7 Share Posted October 1 I like the uniform. Cancer research needs all of our help. Too many of us have been impacted with the loss of family and friends. The advances they make increases the survivor rates each and every year. I have six years of chemo treatments in the rear view mirror, and had the opportunity to test a new treatment during that time. Nothing to lose, and everything to gain. In the words of Jim Valvano….“ Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.” 1
Mudslide No. 8 Share Posted October 2 Sadly, my wife has just been diagnosed with lung cancer. I have been free from neck cancer for 21 years. So, we know of the strength and support that is needed to wage war with this killer. It will somehow touch every family, even if distantly. Please give this game extra energy for us. I'm going to see if I can buy a jersey.
