Solar No. 1 Share Posted October 5 (edited) ...like a mediocre team that played against one of the best teams in the country six days ago, had just travelled across the country, and was playing in a game that started at 9:15 pm and finished after midnight. I'm not trying to take away too much from Oregon's dominance, but MSU was set up to fail in this game, and it definitely showed. The table is set for next week now, B1G's equivalent of Alabama vs. Georgia. Gonna be a lot of hype. Edited October 5 by Solar

Goliath vs Goliath and our Goliath has the home field. Iowa will be a tougher test than MSU was, will be interesting to see how Ohio State does in their warm-up game. Lots to look forward to next Saturday.

30Duck No. 7 Share Posted October 5 Michigan State did play as expected. More importantly though, so did Oregon, though the Red Zone hiccups could have been done without. But get those mistakes out of the way. Overall Oregon looked like an upper tier B1G team taking care of business.
The Kamikaze Kid Moderator No. 8 Share Posted October 5 Give Smith a couple years and MSU will be a problem. If the new BIG is going to be as legit as the new SEC, teams 4-8 they need to step up and be legit top 25ish teams. Iowa, Wisky, MSU and SUC are going to need to step it up or the SEC will continue to dominate the rankings then will dominate the playoff rankings then dominate the media deal numbers.

A Jonathan Smith team that is weak on offense? Only in the first year or so...then he will have a great running game, balanced by good passing. If he had that now--their defense is good enough to win games with at least enough to get to a bowl game. Smith might be scary to the B1G before long... How weird to see him in green! 1 Mr. FishDuck

He could be gone after next season. He didn't RS last season. He still has a chance to get MSU bowl-eligible this season.
