Posted October 8, 2024Oct 8 Administrator We cannot believe the USC loss to Minnesota. What would that equivalent be like in the old Pac-12? Losing to ASU last year, or Cal? Whew! Trojan tears are never salty to me....just sweet. I'm not there, but I have to give them credit for understanding their situation and possibly realizing there's nothing they can do about it, The Carroll years were great, he was charismatic, the players were great, and he didn't really have to be a great recruiter, USC pretty much did that on automatic back then. But, I think that lack of foundation has led to the deterioration of the program we're seeing now. Oregon is picking players out of USC's backyard. Not even just USC, CJ Stroud went to high school at Rancho Cucamonga, went to Ohio State. The coaches after Carroll? Lane Kiffin; left on a tarmac, now a success at Ole Miss. Ed Orgeron; wasn't SC, won a championship at LSU. Clay Helton? Also wasn't really A -List enough. Donte Williams? No. Lincoln Riley!!!! Until it's turning out he isn't the leading man that USC needs. October 8, 2024Oct 8 Moderator Their fans expectations are far too high. The team has not been dominant for years, and they so wanted Riley to be the guy. He is a coach, not a magician. Btw..Pete Carrol teaching a class at USC seems odd. Is he posturing himself to coach at USC again, or just hanging out in LA to see if an NFL team gives him a call?

October 9, 2024Oct 9 I wasn't surprised USC lost. It was a matchup problem for USC. Minnesota's loss to Iowa skewed expectations for the Gophers. They changed their philosophy on offense after that. They are far more balanced and they throw the ball much better than they did at the beginning of the season. That is USC's kryptonite - a balanced offense that can pass the ball. In addition, USC is not playing well on the road this year. They're in for a long season. The B1G only has 3 elite teams, but the middle of the pack can hurt you if you don't come ready to play. USC will not be excellent until they get an elite defense. That may not happen at all with Lincoln Riley.
October 9, 2024Oct 9 Funny enough is that their defense has looked much better. It's been their offense that's stalled out behind a sus line that doesn't look B1G tough. Losing at Michigan was one thing. It's a huge intimidating stadium with history and pedigree despite losing nearly everything. But losing to Minnesota? A Minnesota that let Iowa run through them just a week earlier, that's an indictment on Lincoln's offense.

October 9, 2024Oct 9 I’m not going to pretend I know what the financials look like at SUC… I feel A&M have deeper pockets due to all the Oil Money. Living here in Texas for 3+ years and chatting with some A&M alumni, they’re not shy bragging about their financial situation. Just my 2 cents and nothing more.
