30Duck No. 1 Share Posted October 11 Speculation is rampant about the Ducks' defensive standout. A Twitter/X user shared a screenshot of Hopkins detailing Burch's injury status this week. This is more of an insider scoop than it is confirmed by the team, but Hopkins shared that Burch got "knicked up" and was held out of practice out of precautionary concern. This was in response to a rumor that Burch was carted off the field. The good news for Burch and Oregon is that the team source told Hopkins that was an "excessive exaggeration of what happened." That would have been a disaster for both the team and the player.
Haywarduck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted October 11 This game is worth $$$$ to Burch. There will massive eyes on this guy and his draft stock will be directly impacted. How a player competes in a big game goes a long way in convincing the scouts, teams he is worth a top draft pick on. The season is long, but this game will do a lot to guide the perception on this guy.
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 3 Share Posted October 11 Between the time of the incident, and the game is a full two days. I would bet that he will be ready... If not, then I would expect that they move Matayo Uiagalelei over, (No. 10) since he is bigger than the other edge rushers, and is having a great year. Then bring in Teitum Tuioti at edge rusher (No. 44) where Matayo was, and we are in a good spot. The depth developed from the recruiting would come through! (Don't forget that we beat uOSU in 2021 without Thibs, as he sat out with an injury.) Matayo Uiagalelei with one of his four sacks YTD. 1 1 Mr. FishDuck
David Marsh No. 4 Share Posted October 11 Well... I'll just point out that in 2021 we beat Ohio State without Kayvon Thibodeux as he was out with an injury. I'd still rather have Burch on the field tomorrow. 1
30Duck Author No. 5 Share Posted October 12 No official updates have been released, and as it stands, Burch may very well suit up on Saturday without issue. But all eyes will be on Oregon’s official injury report, which must be released no later than two hours before kickoff.
DrJacksPlaidPants Moderator No. 6 Share Posted October 12 He’s officially “questionable” for the game tonight. The injury seems to be more significant than they first thought.
OregonDucks No. 7 Share Posted October 12 (edited) What’s up with playing Ohio State and Oregon’s star edge rushers?! (Hopefully the game turns out the same as it did in 2021 and Jordan Burch goes top 5 in the 2025 NFL Draft…) Edited October 12 by OregonDucks
EastBayDuckDad Moderator No. 8 Share Posted October 12 No doubt about it, Burch not being available would be a significant hit to the D-line, particularly in the passing game. Perhaps not as big a hit as losing KT when Oregon played tOSU in 2021, and that turned out pretty well, but there was more lead time to adjust then. Thankfully there is more back up talent on this year's team with Matayo U, but it is tough to replace 6'6" 295# of bull rush and edge containment. 30Duck Author No. 9 Share Posted October 12 Burch suffered a non-contact lower body injury during practice on Thursday, making his status for Saturday night's game vs. Ohio State questionable. Non-contact injuries can be serious,

I really hope it’s not too serious and Mr. Burch can get back on the field soon. He was just starting to play up to his potential and show NFL scouts that he should be a first round selection. The back to back plays where he had a huge tackle for a loss and then a QB sack were a thing of beauty (unless you were rooting for the opposing team)! 30Duck Author No. 11 Share Posted October 12 The injury was not the result of contact and occurred when Burch was running through a drill during the Ducks’ practice on Thursday.

If so, and if it was a knee, it's usually an ACL injury that is diagnosed by MRI, which Burch undoubtedly had. Three possibilities: ACL strain is least severe and recovery can be days to weeks ACL partial tear is worse and you're looking at 4-6 weeks minimum ACL total tear is season ending and requires a surgical repair (think Noah W's injury last year) All speculation on my part, but the more severe ACL injuries are usually contact related or just landing wrong at speed. If this is an ACL, hopefully it's a strain and Burch gets back soon. It would mean that he is likely unavailable for today, which would be a major bummer. We'll know at 2:30 when the final pre-game injury report is released.

Another side eluded that it was not the news we want. This might throw the Ohio State game plan off too. We just need some other guys to step up.
