ArkieDuck No. 1 Share Posted Monday at 07:40 PM Jet lag for travel east to B1G games. When will team leave and arrive?
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 2 Share Posted Monday at 07:56 PM I don’t know. I’ve heard conflicting reports, as some say, you can’t cure the time difference easily, thus they simply go a day and a half ahead of time. I would bet on them getting there on Thursday. 1 Mr. FishDuck
Drake Moderator No. 3 Share Posted Monday at 08:04 PM Jet lag going east isnt that bad. You are just wide awake at midnight…4 1/2 hour direct flight to Detroit from Portland…not too bad.
QuackyQuack No. 4 Share Posted Monday at 08:22 PM IMHO the whole time difference and travel narrative has been blown out of proportion. This isnt like you and I are travelling from EUG to Michigan. They are on a chartered flight and the game is at 12:30PST. Treat it just like a game on the West Coast at 12:30. And knowing Dan and his obsession with getting everything perfect he has every tip and trick in the book from NFL folks and sports medicine professionals to make it as smooth as possible. 1
David Marsh No. 5 Share Posted Monday at 08:33 PM I'm starting to think going east isn't as big of a problem for teams as going west is. Going east teams are playing earlier in the day or the same time. 12:30 PST start time against Michigan is only 3:30 local time. Not that big of a deal for us. But when Michigan State came to town with a 6pm start time... that's a 9pm start time for an east coaster. That's when they are used to a game wrapping up, not starting. I also think it is easier to train for an earlier game in the day rather than a later one. There are already plenty of early starts when it comes to weight training, practice, and meetings. Not many practices start at night. 2

It's a 3.5 hour flight on a reasonably comfortable charter flight. It's not like they are traveling across country by wagon train. They will be eating very well and staying in very nice accommodations. And, they will likely be in Michigan slightly longer than 48 hours. Meaning, they are absolutely not going to attempt to adjust to the 3-hour time difference, because there is no need to. They can pretty much stay on their West Coast clock. I may be missing something, but done right, I don't see the travel as a big deal.

Other astute OBD members here, (maybe you were one of them?) pointed out how it is much worse going west than going east. Wouldn't that be a hoot to find out that the rest of the B1G is at the disadvantage when bringing us into the conference, and not us so much? 2 Mr. FishDuck
