Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted November 12 It was announced to the media on Sunday afternoon that all Oregon football practices this week are closed to the media. It is puzzling because the media is only allowed for the first 15 minutes of practice--that's it. You cannot tell much, you don't see anything of the offense/defense, and the only thing you CAN do is see who is injured, recovering or not. This week is not special; this is not the B1G Championship Game, nor a major game left on the schedule in Wisconsin, and after that we have a bye week before finishing the regular season against Washington. So WHY are they closed? The only thing I can come up with is there is an injury to someone crucial, and they don't want the media to see anything. That's all I got....what does this wise community pose as other reasons? 1 1 1 Mr. FishDuck
Chas Man No. 2 Share Posted November 12 (edited) If I put my fears of a major injury aside, I see this road game in Madison as a glimpse of the Summit. Win this, and you are in the Big Championship. Major goal accomplished on your way to the Natty. You have a bye week to prepare for the Dawg Poop beat down with no pressure whatsoever. Lose to Wisky, and now you are in a must win situation vs UW. That to me is worth circling the wagons and making sure you have everyone focused to bring your absolute best THIS Saturday. QuackyQuack No. 3 Share Posted November 12 Saw this on another site and it made me laugh... "Probably don't want anyone reporting abuse for how hard practice is going to be this week after the lackluster half-hearted performance against Maryland." But my guess would be they dont want the media train to freak out if both Jordan Burch and Jordan James are not spotted at practice while they are healing up. 1
30Duck Moderator No. 4 Share Posted November 12 Who knows. Lanning didn't hide Burch's injury. As far as they go, he's been pretty transparent. Unless it's Gabriel, and even if it was, I don't really see the advantage of keeping it a secret until kickoff time in Madison. Maybe last week's game raised some concerns in Lanning, and he wants to tighten things up as much as possible.
Haywarduck No. 5 Share Posted November 12 In Lanning I trust!
Duckhart2 No. 6 Share Posted November 12 Probably hiding a key player that is recovering from an injury, maybe no reps for a few days?
Duckhart2 No. 7 Share Posted November 12 Or maybe, Tez will be testing his shoulder through the week. Keep it as a surprise come game time. 1
Augduck No. 8 Share Posted November 12 Well, he did say in his post game presser that there might have been a lack.of focus so what better way to get the team on track than to eliminate any and all distractions. Just thinking. 1
Drake Moderator No. 9 Share Posted November 12 My guess is that they are focusing on finishing the season strong. The coaches, and players, also avoid any questions regarding sloppy play, injuries, transfer portal rumors…etc. The coaches also have to focus on putting the finishing touches on the 2025 recruiting class. Not enough hours in the day based on what the team is trying to accomplish. Have to keep current players focused, and impress potential recruits.
David Marsh No. 10 Share Posted November 12 He's closed practices on previous random weeks. I'm not going to get too concerned yet.

noDucknewby No. 12 Share Posted November 12 Us longtime fans know that November has not been kind to us on more than one occasion. It's OK to be a little nervous. I'm not going to jinx anything by even talking specifics, yeah I'm superstitious. That said, I have no doubt there's a method to his madness, no point in stewing about it. The Kamikaze Kid Moderator No. 14 Share Posted November 12 I’m sure we’ll find out in this week’s Ducks vs Them in the most epic way possible. 2
Solar No. 15 Share Posted November 13 He's probably hiding that they decided to just play Ultimate Frisbee for practice to keep the contact to a minimum...17 games and all. I'm only half joking. 1
