That disturbance in the force you just felt was millions of SUC fans crying out at once.

While Cignetti is having a COY performance, and a raise is warranted, according to 247 his 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked 13th in the BIG.

While I expect a potential uptick with Indiana’s recruiting, Cignetti will struggle to consistently compete with a below average level of recruiting inside the conference. He will need to improve dramatically.

No matter how good of a coach you are, size, speed, and depth still matters.

“Well, you know, honestly, they came to me, they were very proactive,” Cignetti said of Indiana coming with a contract. “And, you know, some people say, ‘Well, you know, why would you do that when  this one may open, that one may open, you know, and you’re going to be a hot commodity, blah, blah, blah.’ And the fact that matter is, we’re the emerging superpower in college football. Why would I leave?”

Indiana has agreed to a contract extension and raise for coach Curt Cignetti after he has led the Hoosiers to a 10-0 start in his first season.

What a great story. Good for Cignetti.

Sounds like something Dan Lanning would say….

That guy looks like he is always sucking on a lemon, what a gump. I can't imagine having to be around him. Like they say before 40 you have the face God gave you, after 40 you have the face you gave yourself. He is a walking example of that.

I didn't notice a buyout number.

They need a $72M buyout... and THAT won't stop some suiters from calling... if his history holds on into the future.

Cignetti has benefited greatly this season from 13 players who came with him from James Madison with at least 8 starting.  Clearly knew expectations and culture, and the play book.   His staff includes 6 assistants from JMU.

According to FPI, the strength of schedule is No. 100.  But, they have had dominant wins and not stubbed their toes.

Cignetti had to be given a raise.  Had to.  Any AD would do it as a defensive measure since his coach only had one season invested in Indiana.  Can he sustain success?  That is now the $8million per year question.

If the Hoosiers can beat Ohio State it is a short bus ride to the Big Ten Championship game.   It is 49 miles from Bloomington to Indianapolis.   That's closer than Georgia is to Atlanta.  It would likely be the most overwhelmingly partisan crowd in the history of conference championship games.

The first PAC 12 championship game was at Autzen. I’ve heard the fans of Oregon represent very well there.
