The new "Ducks vs Them" is out, and I am now thoroughly convinced that Dan Lanning is an absolute PSHYCHOPATH.

 

He is a maniac of the highest order, and I am all the way here for it.

 

What football coach do YOU know that actively encourages their team to dance to the opponents hype song, use that aforementioned song against them, win a tight game in THEIR PLACE, and then play that same song AGAIN while celebrating in the locker room?

 

This is truly diabolical behavior, and I love every bit of it!

Lanning's understanding of human psychology is so many levels beyond the next level it's nearly impossible to comprehend. These Duck's vs Them videos will generate their own fields of study.  The concoction of football knowledge, commitment to team work, education and mental growth and straight up clairvoyance that meld together in his brain make him much more than a mere football coach. What's going on right before our eyes is so far beyond to sheer wizardry of the Kelly years. 

 

We are a very lucky fan base. The team is a very lucky group of players. The amazing video production crew is very lucky to have access to such unreal content. The only ones not lucky are the ones up next on the schedule and this week it really is THEM!

He also ran two fake plays against Wisconsin... neither amounted to much. The direct snap to James at the end of the half to see if they could sneak out a massive run. It didn't work. 

 

Then a fake punt on fourth and four instead of a field goal that would increase the lead to 6... Going to be honest if it was a little shorter I think it would have been a better call but a special teams holder does not typically have the speed needed to get 4 yards before the opposing team realizes what's going on... he got a solid 3 yards but not 4. 

 

Still a freaking mad man. 

 

And yes, I absolutely love it too. 

Yeah, well tell that to my therapists.  😵‍💫

So thankful no Ducks were physically harmed while dancing in the making of that video!

Watching this play back, if Herbert didn’t whiff on the block he was responsible for it would have been a TD. We would all then be praising DL for such an amazing call.

Personally... I love it. Be aggressive and take reasonable risks. 

 

This oddly enough reminds me of the article I wrote before Lanning's first game against Georgia. Now that one ended poorly but I believe he has the right philosophy.
