GameDay Thread: Ohio State vs. Indiana!

Recommended Posts

"Indiana getting exposed."    Actually, that is part of the issue with them.  They have been on BTN 6 times, Peacock 1, and 1 each Fox, CBS, NBC before today.  That's 3 linear network appearances in 10 games.

Along with strength of schedule, Indiana has been operating in the dark, and been given the benefit of the doubt based on scoring margin.

Man, this could still be 7-14, but for their punter. First the obvious muff, then he tried to make it up the next kick that too low and hard and outkicked his coverage. I literally said out loud as the ball came off his foot "great, now he outkicks his coverage to make up for the muff."

I was also disappointed Cig phoned it in before halftime, chosing not to use his remaining 2 timeouts when OSU was first and goal with almost two minutes left. I guess he has no confidence in his team executing a two minute drill against this defense.

Now he punts on fourth down at the 45. He doesn't have any confidence in his offense to pass protect long enough to go 10 yards. It pays off though with a quick OSU 3 and out.

And another deep sack. The RB can't pass block to save his life. And another sack.

Cig's OC has no adjustments to make to deal with OSU bringing it every passing down? One screen all game, no bringing in an extra TE to pass block, or rolling out the QB?

This is crap coaching too. Looks like IU's ceiling is like a Penn State at best.

Interesting column in The Athletic yesterday about Ohio State revamping their defense since the Oregon game.  D-coordinator Jim Knowles initiating a major reset.

excerpt:  In the four games since the loss, Ohio State has given up just two touchdowns and 4.1 yards per play. Through the Oregon game, the Buckeyes had the nation’s 61st-highest blitz rate (28.2 percent), per TruMedia; since then, they’ve had the fourth highest (45.8 percent). They’ve also risen from 61st in percent of man-to-man defense played to 14th.

It won't be as bad as TCU-Georgia.

Maybe Indiana shouldn't have rushed that Cignetti contract.

Indiana had to make a pre-emptive move.  Don't question that.   But, his first team has a bunch of transfers from his last job at James Madison.  And, faced an obviously weak schedule.   Maybe length of term could have been shorter with incentives for annual rollovers.

I think broadcaster Gus Johnson has just moved into No. 1 most annoying on my personal scale.

That last TD by Ohio St was bad sportsmanship. Just take the knee and end the game.

Ohio state and bad sportsmanship?  Kind of like bread and butter!  Or maybe peanut butter and jelly.  They just seem to go together.

We did the same thing to Michigan.

Ohio State RB Treveyon Henderson went down at the 1-yard line to bleed out the clock vs. Indiana. Instead of taking a knee, the Buckeyes added a TD.

Since Indiana is 60 miles from Indianapolis perhaps a few Hoosier fans will show up to cheer for the Ducks...

“We said leave no doubt,” Day told Fox’s Jenny Taft postgame. “We wanted to finish it the right way and make sure that everybody knows that this is The Ohio State Buckeyes.”

Cry baby Day is a schmuck.

Before the last game Oregon played at The Shoe, he said he was going to run up the score on the Ducks. It didn’t go too well for him.

My recollection was that Oregon's last possession on that game would not have completely run out the clock had they taken knees, so they punched it in for a TD.  In tOSU's case, they absolutely would have run out the clock after taking a couple knees.

Look at the bright side....a TON of people will be cheering for us when we play the insufferable Buckeyes!
