CjAllen180 No. 1 Share Posted Tuesday at 02:59 AM Maybe I'm just naive. It's possible. After all, I'm only 31 years old. Or maybe I'm just BIASED. Yeah, that's it. I have no problem admitting that. I LOVE me some Oregon Ducks, man. So I beseech you, my fellow Duck fans, particularly the elder statesmen among you. Perhaps one of you can explain to me how Oregon has held the No. 1 ranking since the Illinois game, won the B1G in their first year, secured wins over THREE playoff teams, finished the regular season as the nation's ONLY unbeaten team, and yet they don't have a single 1st team All-American? HUH?! So let me get this straight: No first team All-American, only ONE second teamer, and only TWO third teamers, one which was a Heisman finalist, no award winners outside of Bryce Boettcher (unless I'm missing something), no coach of the year, head coach, assistant or otherwise, no NOTHING. If I hadn't watched a single game, I'd think that Oregon's unbeaten record was a fluke and that they were just a bunch of lucky Ducks (pun intended) who would soon have their luck run out. But of course, I know better. I saw the games, all of them. OBD have EARNED that top ranking many times over. So what gives? 30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted Tuesday at 03:20 AM Prime and Colorado got more attention last year than the Ducks did. I'll stick with ironic that Sanders was offended with Lanning's, "We play for wins, they play for clicks". This season, Lanning has made his case for being the best coach in the country, but "I win, Google me" got more attention. Unless you were a Duck fan, you probably didn't know who the QB of the undefeated Oregon team was. I wouldn't have traded Tez for any receiver in the country. If the All America voters actually watched him play, and didn't just look at the stats, he'd have been higher. How about Harmon, the play against osu2 wasn't alone for him, he was disruptive all season. It was easy for the talking heads to chortle on about the "Finesse Ducks" on Pac-12 After Dark. But now? They just steamrolled the B1G and there's nothing to say?

KCDuck1 No. 5 Share Posted Tuesday at 03:54 AM (edited) CjAllen180, Have you not figured it out, yet? OBD are not part of the blue-blooded club. Gabriel plays better as the opposing teams become better, and he played a superb game against Penn State. Did that change anything WRT the medias' support for the Heisman or the Davey O'Brien awards? No, not a whit. So, what's a body to do to receive any media and/or foundation's award recognition? Or, is that even desired? How about the biggest achievement in the sport annually. What might that be? Why the National Championship, of course. Our Head Coach remarked the games (and therefore opportunities) are not becoming any easier as we win, but then no one expects the teams contending for the Natl Championship to have easy or easier games. After all, it is The National Championship. Win it, and the winner is The Story; the winner joins the history books related to sports, and football specifically. This does not mean ALL the sports media are blind, deaf, and dumb. Did you read the Athlon Sports article earlier this week. It's here on the FishDuck site. Several Athlon writers and an editor have emerged from some type of exclusive dysphoria or blue-blood induced blindness. Athlon writers and an editor see the effects of the problem, and they are asking what has caused this willful blindness. By the way, this willful blindness is protecting OBDs from the strong effects of what Coach Saban calls "rat poison". OBDs may have experienced it with Idaho and BSU initially, but OBDs seem to have shaken those effects off. It's really quite simple: Just W-I-N and keep W-I-N-N-I-N-G, for a total of three games. Notice the high school and other Div 1 and 1A players aren't distracted by OBD's success. They want to win, too. They welcome the teaching practices where they are observing/involved, and participating with and against the players who are doing exactly what they see players doing on TV. They want to know who the best team, coaching staff/coaches, and players are, and why. What are the techniques? How do I do them? All the replays on the networks and U-Tube are tailor made for observing, evaluating, learning, and dreaming. Just get out of their way, and let's wish OBDs the best when they prepare to compete in the quarterfinals, and more. It's not all about the "club", it's not about "M-E", it's about our team, their discipline/teamwork, and their Brotherhood. FEBU. You must request someone else to develop the meaning of that acronym - very simple. So, CjAllen180, does that make any sense? Did it at least partially answer your question? If I fouled up the explanation, someone else will tweak my ears or kick me in the pants and then explain it more effectively to you. Great questions, and you are correct to ask what the heck is taking place, and why. I remain VR, KCDuck1 Go Ducks; Win Ducks, Win! Grandpa Duck No. 6 Share Posted Tuesday at 04:21 AM What jrw said above is a big part oh it. OBD have 11 really good players on the field every snap on both sides of the ball. Difficult for any single player to stand out and get credit. We see great QB protection, great pass, great catch, great down field blocking by other receivers all in one play. And, a huge portion of the sports world thinks that the Knights bought the whole operation because Nike is a famous brand. Makes no difference that it’s not true, that’s the perception OBD live with. 1 1 1

I understand the thought, and there is no "I in this team". But we saw how vital Tez was when he wasn't there. A little obvious now, but OBD don't beat Penn State without him. 1

Great questions, and you are correct to ask what the heck is taking place, and why. I remain VR, KCDuck1 Go Ducks; Win Ducks, Win! EXACTLY! This is why OBD needs Ohio State to defeat Tennessee and for Penn State and Indiana to also win the 1st round games. A rising Tide lifted all SEC boats. We need a B1G splash to raise the B1G boats. The B1G needs to be B1G on the field and not just in the banker's office. Most importantly, Oregon has to break through with a title, and then a couple of more to lose the Uncle Phil paid for it all trope. Two-thirds of the population of the USA live east of the Rockies. A John McKay, and Pete Carroll performance, plus, because OBD is north of LA, will be needed to bring Oregon into the blue section of the CFB blood bank. Danno, Division Street, et al are working on making the dream come true. Now Rob, about Boise State and a game at Utah State? 1

But of course, I know better. I saw the games, all of them. OBD have EARNED that top ranking many times over. So what gives? Sound off below! I think there are two reasons. the first is Oregon is very balanced. They have a 1000-yard rusher, a Moore Award finalist O-Line and a very efficient QB. The defense is the same. Look at the UW game. Ten sacks split between eight different players. They also have a CB who nobody wants to throw at. The Ducks play just isn't sexy enough for the stat-driven awards voters. The second reason is the perception that Uncle Phil is buying players. This is only OK if Ohio State (blue blood) or Ole Miss (SEC) does it. Oregon using the same rules as everyone else to win a national championship is about as acceptable as Elon Musk trying to become a member of Augusta National Golf club. In other words, their money is the wrong shade of green and the bills are too crisp. There comes a time when a person realizes they will never get invited to the party. So, they can either quit trying or kick the door down and liven the place up a little. 1 1 1 1 2
