30Duck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted December 25, 2024 Not really, but if No.6 Penn State wins the championship, after their CFP stroll, it's going to be hard to take. Not only did Oregon already beat Penn State, and Boise State and osu2, Penn State only lost to the other CFP teams they played. Oregon and osu2. Osu2 lost to No. Oregon 1, and beat Indiana, eliminating them. Georgia beat Clemson, they're eliminated, and Texas, twice. Texas? Their only games against CFP teams were losing twice to Georgia. ASU and Notre Dame didn't play any CFP teams. Oregon won't be the first team to beat a team earlier in the season and have that team later win the championship. But this time it could be 3 of them. No other team will see even two teams they beat end up as Champion. Georgia could see Texas win it. What an "opportunity" for OBD. 1 1

Let's take down PSU again and have a three-game winning streak vs osu and two against PSU going into next season. 1

The narrative you speak of will unfortunately be a narrative that many pundits and the like will point to in the case of Oregon besting Georgia. Just like the narrative that UGA only beat Bama in 21 because WR Williams was injured. I don’t subscribe to that type of thinking. Injuries have been a major part of football longer than the forward pass has. It’s just something that a championship team might have to overcome, and if they can’t, then they aren’t Champions and are not the better team. Blaming an injury for a loss is akin to saying something like “Well, we only lost bc they had Michael Jordan on their team.” It’s football, every team deals with injuries. If your QB goes down you must find a way to overcome it. Otherwise, you don’t deserve to win. Frankly, it’s not like GA would definitely win the Natty if Beck was 100%. Neither Beck nor our team has consistently played well this season. In any event, who cares what anyone says? If the Ducks win the Natty, most of you guys won’t care if someone is spouting such nonsense. I can assure you that you will not hear it from this Dawg! 1

Just play the damn games! Oregon is fortunate that it has played consistently well all season. The same can’t be said about Ohio State, which laid a giant egg in their rivalry game against an average Michigan team and was limited to 10 points…..at home! A real stinker. Any team, at any time, can by victimized by a lackluster performance, no matter the circumstances. Oregon, fortunately, has avoided that. The Ducks, after a less than impressive start in September, have played better than anyone in the country, and they deserve to be ranked No. 1. If they play up to their standards, limit penalties, and get a little luck along the way, they definitely can win it all. GO DUCKS! ……..Happy Holidays to all! 1 1 1

I agree, and while I certainly hope that Stockton is in the 1st category, considering his experience and the circumstances I think that is being extremely optimistic. I’m not down on him at all though. I think there is a great chance that he develops into a very good QB. With his teammates rallying around him, I think there is a very good chance that he plays well enough for us to give anyone in the Playoff a good game. I’m bummed about Beck and for Beck, but I’m cautiously optimistic and excited to see Stockton and the Dawgs play.
