Desert Duck No. 1 Share Posted Thursday at 05:12 PM Unfortunately, I feel the need to give massive props to OSU… and Chip Kelly. How in the world they got humiliated at home by unranked rival Michigan, followed by an unmitigated post-game disaster, and then turned everything around on a dime, is quite exceptional. Following Michigan, OSU looked a bit like a dumpster fire. Not to mention, it appears that Coach Day was on the edge of being terminated. Against Michigan, OSU at home put up 10 points (as in ‘ten-points’). Following this, against two highly ranked opponents, OSU has averaged 41.5 points, while holding two rather high powered offenses to an average of 19 points. So, while I naturally have the utmost disdain for OSU, I feel a need to give credit to where credit is due. Following that Michigan disaster, I think most teams would have simply rolled over. Instead, OSU is now rolling over everything in their path. Good luck, Texas. You're gonna need it. 2
Intravenus de Milo No. 2 Share Posted Friday at 12:17 AM Buckeye fan here and new member. I had a great conversation with Charles today and I come in peace. Thought I’d give you guys some perspective from the OSU side of things. On 1/2/2025 at 12:12 PM, Desert Duck said: Unfortunately, I feel the need to give massive props to OSU… and Chip Kelly. I am every bit as surprised by what’s happened as you all are. Not surprised that OSU could do that, it’s just that they hadn’t shown it throughout 2024 so why would anyone think the switch would flip in the postseason? Most fans expected the version we’ve seen the last 2 games to be what showed up all season. Feel free to ask me anything OSU related. I try to be as objective as I can. Per my conversation with Charles, I viewed this game as the toughest challenge OSU would face in the playoffs. I’m a big fan of DG and the skill that you guys have. 1 1 2 2

Charles Fischer Administrator No. 5 Share Posted Friday at 12:34 AM BTW...their hatred of Michigan rivals ours with Washington. Our new friend above can be just as reasonable about CFB as we are, while holding intense disdain for the nearby B1G and legendary opponent. 1 2 Mr. FishDuck

It still might be. I don’t see any remaining team in this playoff that can hold you guys under 35 points. Texas has a good defense, but their offense won’t give them any help. Their OL is banged up and Ewers is a statue because of his ankle. I don’t see them putting up more than 14-17 points on your defense. Their only advantage is playing in Arlington where their fans have been buying Cotton Bowl tickets since they went on sale. ND can’t keep up with your rate of scoring. Their offense just isn’t explosive. You already know PSU won’t score more than one TD on you. 1
Intravenus de Milo No. 7 Share Posted Friday at 12:41 AM I hope you’re right. After the Xichigan game, I viewed OSU as bi-polar. Yesterday’s result goes a long way towards changing my thoughts but I still have ptsd from “The Game”.

And that way, we Ducks might be able to say that we're the only team that beat both finalists. I'd find a modicum of solace in that.

Jon Joseph Moderator No. 10 Share Posted Friday at 12:05 PM Texas will need LUCK IF the team that played Tennessee and OBD in the Rose Bowl shows up. Unlike playing at home and in Pasadena, tOSU will not have the majority of fans at the game in Dallas. This team put the Michigan loss behind it with an emphatic home victory and doubled down with a revenge blowout of OBD. But it's the same group of coaches and players that almost lost at home to Nebraska. Ohio State has the roster to play like it did against the Vols and the Ducks every game out and did so in the last two games and at home vs. Indiana, Illinois. and Iowa. If the Longhorns stop shooting itself in the hoof, winning in Dallas may not be so easy. Texas has lost two games this season as has Ohio State. Texas has not lost to an unranked team. Come on Bucks! Show us the bucks.

30Duck Moderator No. 12 Share Posted yesterday at 03:26 AM Found these at "Eleven Warriors" Asked about whether his team's longer layoff contributed to the score, Lanning wasn't having any of that. “I think that’s an excuse. You know, I thought our guys prepared well going in. Obviously, they had a better plan than us, but that’s an excuse.
30Duck Moderator No. 13 Share Posted yesterday at 03:28 AM And some comments: I feel bad for him and the Duck fans. Perfect regular season and B1G Champs, but who cares now? When I was at Oregon, the fans were nothing but gracious hosts. It does suck for them, but someone had to lose. My wife & I attended the 2010 Rose Bowl and sat in the Oregon section. We too found the Duck fans gracious unlike some U of Washington fans when we attended Bucks vs Huskies in Seattle 2007.
DrJacksPlaidPants Moderator No. 14 Share Posted yesterday at 04:03 AM I live in NC and you can’t swing a dead cat and not hit a Bucknut fan in my neighborhood. They’re good eggs. They like CFB, they love booze, but they sure don’t like to admit defeat. They’re always griping about getting screwed by the refs or the pro-SEC system (we can all relate). They love Ohio State, but don’t seem to love the state of Ohio. They and New Yorkers make up the majority of “half-backs” down here. For reference, “half backs” are the Yankees who move to Florida, can’t stand the heat and humidity, and move half-way back home. Usually GA, SC or NC. Fun people, though. 1

The most important part of this observation is not found in fan reaction or the differing results, but in the fact that it occurred. I think it was Pele who said something to the effect that success isn’t measured by how many wins you get, but by how you respond the week after a loss. If you could say there’s a tragedy (and there really isn’t) in the Ducks loss to Ohio State, it is that there is no opportunity to rectify and redeem when it’s the final game to the season. If there was a subtext to this game (and those are always just excuses), it was that - for the Buckeyes - the title of the game as a CFP Quarter Final was just a smoke screen. For them, the game was for the real B1G Championship, and redemption of a proud team and league tradition. 2
