Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted Wednesday at 08:59 PM Still unknown, as details are being worked out. But at the moment the rumor is that he WILL return, and we will get an announcement soon regardless of his decision. He is allowed another year due to the new JUCO rule, and a second year in the system will help his coverage skills that much more. If this turns out true, then we will return a pretty experienced secondary... He is a very sure open-field tackler... 2 3 Mr. FishDuck

OregonDucks No. 3 Share Posted yesterday at 12:45 PM Thanks for sharing. I’m not sure if this is good news. The linebackers and safeties were the biggest weakness with Oregon’s defense this past year, IMHO. I still have nightmares about Ohio State’s receivers running free all over the field in the Rose Bowl. I was hoping that the younger guys would step up or we could upgrade in the portal.
Solar No. 4 Share Posted yesterday at 07:47 PM They isn't too much wrong with Savage at Nickel or boundary safety, we just need a speedy field safety.

Linebacker has been baffling why they have continued to struggle but keep in mind with linebackers in this defense their role is different than in more "traditional" defenses. Middle linebackers aren't strictly run stoppers and pass rushers but they need to cover. I feel we have some line backers that are good at one aspect of this or another but none are masters at all three. However, I feel Lanning is feeling confident about who he has on the roster because we haven't seen Lanning go aggressively after any linebackers in the portal. AnotherOD No. 6 Share Posted yesterday at 10:18 PM Early spring thought, it will be interesting to see how, and how much, we see of Jerry Mixon. You don't turn down another year of BB (what was he PFF top 5 at his position in 2024?); but, hard to not be excited about what we have heard (and a tiny bit of what we have seen), so far. Thought is the "Mint" or "Tide" verson of this defense requires LB at both spots that can do a lot of things well. If you don't have that, the scheme becomes vulnerable pretty quickly. While a "three star", at 6-2 and 240, JM IMO is a guy to keep an eye on. My super early, subject to more evaluation is, he might be a piece that will help this thing go, the way we think it should go.
DrJacksPlaidPants Moderator No. 7 Share Posted 7 hours ago Savage is an excellent tackler and the Ducks need his experience. I don't base my opinions off of the Rose bowl because OSU is an outstanding offensive and defensive team.
Jon Sousa No. 8 Share Posted 5 hours ago How can you not like a guy named "SAVAGE" playing on defense??
