Is Oregon's Offense Going To Be As Potent As Last Year?

Recommended Posts

This is a very good read...

Oregon coach airs reservations about his side of the football after second spring...

Issues to ponder my Dick friends.  Are OBD in position to exceed last year's intro to the B1G?

Thanks, Mike. I do not see 13-0, but I do see 10-2 or better and a return trip to the Playoff, with a 1st-round home game.

Thanks for posting the article, but IMO, it's an over-the-top reaction to 'Coach Speak'.

Summary - 'We hope to be as good as last season but we have concerns.' Will Stein.

Assistant and head coaches across the USA will repeatedly rinse and repeat the same sentiment. Just once I'd like to hear: 'You think we were good last year? This team will be sooooo much better!'😁

Montana State, Oklahoma State, at Northwestern, and Oregon State before the Week 5 trip to Penn State will give Oregon time to work out the kinks. Four very good reasons why you should play your marquee games in the conference and in the playoffs; not in the 'preseason.'

On paper, this is the easiest schedule OBD will play from 2024 through 2028; only two preseason top-25 teams, Penn State and Indiana, on the slate.

Thanks again. I hope we will see a lot of your terrific analysis this season.

Jon nailed it.  That and "Click-Bait" because there is not much to write about at this time.  So, writer, you exaggerate a coach's quote, and try to make something of it?

"Major Roster Woes?"

And the most silly part?  His article was focused on the offense,

when it was the defense that was the major "woe" in the Rose Bowl.

Geez...write an article that asks for input based

on some facts!  Like this one!

I LOVE both of your takes.  He did his job though didn't he?

My question is who is going to step up in the WR room?  Stewart isn't enough.  Not to mention Penn State's shortcomings were directly related to weak WR play.

I believe the QB, OL, and RB positions are above average to excellent.

My question is who are the two F22s in the room ( can I get two supersonic pass catchers please?)

Unknown as yet, but there sure are a ton of candidates.

While not a WR, Kenyon Sadiq is a matchup nightmare that will be a bigger part of the offense.  (For those on desktop or laptop....you can see my picture background behind the forum of Sadiq.)

Everyone expects that they will be Stewart, the transfer from Florida State, and we've been told from tons of sources that Dak Moore is the real thing and will be on the field this fall.  But I would suggest another name...Gary Bryant, the transfer from USC.

I believe he will have a breakout year as Traeshon Holden did for us last year.

Gary Bryant Jr. makes strong first impression with 100 yard performance in debut

The real question...is Bryant healed from his injuries?

Ducks offense will be just fine.

We all have questions about filling player positions that have been vacated. That is part of what makes college football so entertaining. It will take time playing together for the new players to gel as a team.

Remember our start last year? That was some ugly football.

I once again expect that they will struggle, and get better as the season goes on.

Amen.  The offensive line will most likely have four out of five starters who are transfers.  They have been analyzed as good, but it takes a bit to mesh together, and you called it precisely.

And...I agree with you in that the development is, "part of our entertainment."

I like Bryant, I'm hoping Dickey is fully recovered from a very serious injury in high school ( if he is, I think he's going to shine).  Newbie Moore looks like the real deal, he's got a burst like Tez J.

McClellan looks promising as well as Super tall Kyler Kasper.

They all need to step up asfar as I'm concerned.  Make it really tough to choose a consistent rotation.  Not to mention attrition has now reached college football.

Sadiq though...

That dude is faster than most of the WRs.  I'd put him at slot against safeties/ nickel backs, as well as chomping on the LBs.

Sadiq is a generational talent and should be used accordingly.

Our rushing attack is my main concern. 72nd in the nation was not a good number. Shore that up and our offense should be much better.

I would think it is going to be as potent as last year. It might not look the same though.

I seem to recall some other teams who had a dominating TE that would wreak havoc on opposing defenses. (GA for one).

Couple that with one or two outstanding WR and a couple running backs, I see no issues.

Is the defense going to be able to match the offense potential?

I thought Novosad looked the best of all qb's in the Spring game last year.

Granted, DG was new to the offense but the fact AN didn't transfer suggests he thinks he has a real shot to play.

I also think Luke Moga surprised some people.

In other words, Dante Moore may be in the lead, but it appears to be a real solid competition. The best way to get the cream to rise to the top.

I think our teams success this season will really reflect on our coaching staff.

We have amazing athletes at every position. But not many are experienced in our offense. A"weird veterans team" indeed. We need guys to step up.

The roster is now 100% Lannings players. We definitely have the potential. Will the coaches develop the talent to show up on the field?

I think they will.

But it's going to be a fun year watching.

And this year's schedule is the time to do it.

For me the offense needs to get back towards the 2023 standard and exceed the 2024 standard.

However... as Charles mentioned, it's the defense that needs to take the next step more than the offense.

Not to derail this thread and expanding on Charles' comment above.

The article referenced is from a content management service.  The service, Essentially Sports is owned   by Full Spectrum which is a digital product company based in India. Their primary business is Web and Application development and Digital Marketing.

The author of the article is not one of the usual 'DUCKS beat' writers.

What these content services do is scour the web for articles, take them and put a spin on them that will cause people to click on them, hence they become 'click bait'.

The net here is there are  things in the article for discussion but the author sensationalized it to get all of us to read it.

I find myself looking at these articles and seeing who wrote them and if it's not one of the usual DUCK beat writers, I pass.
