I've really enjoyed his long run and will certainly miss him. I'm curious as to what they'll do now at the end of each show. 1 1 2 1
Santa Rosa Duck No. 2 Share Posted April 17 I still watch this show for two reasons. One, what do the commentators have to say about our DUCKS. Two, to hear what Lee Corso has to say about any subject on his mind. I find him incredibly entertaining and wish him the best. 1

My reason's too, though I'm glad that Corso is hanging it up, I actually would have preferred he had done so a few years ago. The last couple of seasons to me felt like LC was being used as a prop. Good to see that there will be a special "last game" 1 1
Jon Joseph Moderator No. 4 Share Posted April 17 OOOPS! Not So Fast! Lee is retiring after a Week 1, not a Week 0 game. Why would a Pisano retire in Ireland? Not happening. Perfect Week 1 game? Columbus, Ohio, site of the first headgear pick when Lee chose the Buckeyes' Brutus. Will it be Horns or Nuts when Texas tees it up against Ohio State?

I hope the headgear reflects where Lee and the crew will be in Week 1. A return to Columbus, Ohio, where Lee first put on the headgear, featuring the Buckeyes' Brutus, would be fitting. (The above is not a photo from the 1st Brutus pick; Chris Fowler was the ringleader back in the day.) Bring it with Brutus, or Hook 'Em with the Horns? A serendipitous Week 1 matchup for Lee's final pick.
Annie Author No. 13 Share Posted April 21 I agree with Rece. Retire the headgear pick too. That was Corso's schtick and IMHO it wouldn't seem right with someone else doing it. 1

NJDuck Moderator No. 18 Share Posted April 23 Scott Van Pelt reflects on Lee Corso’s legacy with heartfelt tribute After a long-running career as a staple of the show, Corso will make his final appearance at the start of the 2025 season. It will feature his final headgear pick after serving as a staple of the college football season for decades. During his Thursday night “SportsCenter” show, SVP took the chance to honor the former head coach and popular host for his iconic headgear segment that was revered by fans far and wide. According to Van Pelt, Corso’s headgear segment was one of the last moments truly made for live television in the growing era of streaming and DVR capabilities. “For nearly 30 years, no matter where you were in the fall, if you loved college football, you had one duty. Not an obligation, but a place you had to be just before noon eastern: in front of your TV to see who is Lee going to pick,” explained Van Pelt. “If you think about it, in this time of DVRs, that moment became the last thing you truly had to see live as it happened, because it’s magic. It’s electric. And watching it later would have been — I don’t know — cheating, somehow. “It was coach, the man who gracefully aged into becoming everyone’s dad, then grandpa, and beloved friend. You wanted him to pick your team, of course. But, somehow, it was even more fun when he reeled you in and then went heel.” Here is SVP’s full tribute with the rest of the college football world weighing in recently on the decision: Scott Van Pelt reflects on Lee Corso's legacy with heartfelt tribute SATURDAYTRADITION.COM ESPN's Scott Van Pelt reflected on the legacy of Lee Corso through his signature SVP style on SportsCenter.
