So far Oregon has mainly stayed out of the auction setting that recruiting has become now days, but will, should they go all in for this stud edge rusher? The article says he's a life long Tide fan, but does that matter anymore?

The Oregon Ducks are high on the board for 5-star EDGE Anthony 'Tank' Jones, but there is an SEC school who currently leads his...

We are quickly approaching the time where Oregon needs to get more aggressive with the NIL.

I get their strategy..  or what seems to be their strategy but it's approaching go time for Oregon to take some of these recruits.

"Trust the process!"

We have 10 verbals right now and with a loaded young team, it makes sense to take maybe 15 or 16 total and save the money for the portal candidates in the future, since there will probably be quite a few of them!

Agree.  We need to close on a few of these OL guys.  If we do that, I will be happy.

Lanning absolutely stocked the shelves with young talent to develop while the portal guys came in and brought results. Now those well stocked shelves will be the heart of his roster the next couple years while the NIL/ direct payment circus plays itself out. How many teams are going to go all in the next couple years and absolutely way over commit too much money to high school 4-5 stars and roster retention when those top dollar recruits inflate the costs of roster retention.

When dropping 2-3 mil on a five star high school kid how, does the domino effect  play out keeping that four star starter or his four star back up?  While other schools crash and burn over committing precious funds, Lanning will still have top flight  talent and compete at the highest level with a top end NIL collective that isn't throwing around Monopoly money all over the place. When the right plan of attack presents itself for viable long term success, the UO will be once again well positioned to take the lead and control the narrative.

This is what Oregon is doing. Other schools are spending millions on recruits to commit, without any assurance that they'll stay.  The Ducks got water splashed in their face when Wesley went to Texas, and I still don't want OBD to engage in a bidding war, when Oregon feels like a player is worth investing in Lanning will be there.

I find it doubtful that Lanning & staff have not fine-tuned some sort of formula based on position that accounts for - among others - graduation rate, percentage of those who will red shirt, transfer into and off the roster and medical-out of the program, to not have a pretty clear idea of team recruiting needs, and what it will cost to compete for those players in any given year.

NIL is meant to be an additional benefit of coming to a great program. You get an education, great coaching, a culture, and if everything works out you get to go pro. Beware of bag chasers though. If they are only coming for the bag, it won't be long till they demand more. Their loyalty and dedication isn't to the program, but to themselves.

There's a difference between a guy like Arch Manning and Jaden Rashada. There's a difference between a DJ Lagway and Nico Imaleava. Yes all four rightfully want their money, but two of those guys are as invested in the program that is paying them as the program is invested in the player they are paying.
