the Boise game is the surprise of the night for me. They no longer have the stud running back, but my sources tell me that they have a lot of talent and production on both sides of the ball returning this year. Suddenly their upcoming game at Notre Dame seems no where near as enticing.

To me Nebraska was disappointing. We have a number of Corndawg Nebraska fans on the forum where I participate, and these guys assured us all Winter that Rhule and the Huskers were breaking out big time this year. It could still happen of course, but I saw nothing tonight that would fuel such deep optimism.

Our week 2 opponent did not have a very good offensive showing vs. UT Martin. I am assuming they didn’t open their playbook and Mullet Mike will have some surprises for OBD when they visit Eugene next weekend.

Hats off to the MAC teams. With NIL, largely unregulated 'college free agency,' and little or no control over tampering, it's a credit to these G5 teams and their coaches to go down swinging, if they go down.

A long way to go in a too-short season, but I think Wisconsin and Minnesota, even though both looked to be improved on defense, will have a tough time winning in Autzen, and the same for Rutgers on the road. Rutgers went 5 for 5 on 4th down tries. Good news for Schiano's O but the D was swiss cheese in the 2nd half.

I'm sure Boise is currently scrambling to see if they can schedule Oregon on their schedule as soon as possible right now. Whenever they play us in the early season they have a good season.

BSU is an interesting one and the new PAC might want to hold their breath a little as they are supposed to be the new shining star.

Since COVID, BSU had lost at least 4 games each season up until last year. Not exactly a scintillating trend given who they’ve been playing. From what I saw, they look to be reverting to that norm.

Will make for a pretty bad first year of the new PAC next year if they have a collection of 6-6 (or worse) teams, against supposedly worse competition in 2025, joining together to launch things 2026.

Not surprised to see BSU lose, but to get stomped by South Florida, that is a surprise. Looked like a team that was just not prepared to start the season.

2026 OBD opens against Boise in Autzen. (Rob needs to read the: You never ever never schedule Boise State! memo.) Next week, off to Stillwater. I still can't figure out why?

One thing I noticed last night was the Florida heat and humidity wearing down the Broncos. It was hot in Boise during August, but without the strength-sapping humidity.
