Unfortunately we are ranked #17 out of the 18 Big Ten Universities academically by the latest US News and World Report. I am very happy to have my degree from The University of Oregon. I almost went to USC.

The Big-10 is the elite academic and sports conference, and our placing could be "relative" compared to other conferences, such as the SEC. It reminds me of when people in Alabama are scolded about how the mortality and literacy stats for their state are near the bottom of the nation. Their answer?

"At least we're not Mississippi!"
