October 24Oct 24 Administrator No. The official roster lists Dante Moore at 6'3" and 206 lbs., and Akili Smith Jr. at 6"5' and 231 pounds...has he grown since this measurement? If quarterback doesn't work out--he could be a heck-of-a-Fullback or Tight End?Or a heck-of-a-running quarterback! October 24Oct 24 Author Administrator No. Check these highlights, as this is looking even more promising...(only 30 seconds) Mr. FishDuck
October 24Oct 24 No. I could see a scenario where Novosad, and Moga, transfer which would leave Moore, Smith jr, Thomas, and Beavers for next years roster.

Jr. also has some good size hands at 9.75 inches. Pretty sure that is tip of thumb to tip of pinky. QBs his size can shed a fair number of sack attempts if they have good balance and foot work.
October 25Oct 25 No. Looking more like his Daddy all the time... guys that size have hurt the Ducks on multiple occasions (tOSU circa 2010 Terrell Pryor/2015 Cardale Jones) Edited October 25Oct 25 by woundedknees
October 25Oct 25 No. He makes Moore look small. Moore isn't the most build quarterback but he doesn't normally look that small.
October 25Oct 25 No. Terrell Pryor played at 6'6/230ish.Akili Smith Sr was 6'3/220...This could be interesting if his baseline skills are as good or better than his Dad...
October 25Oct 25 No. I hope our coaches design the offense to let Smith, Jr. use his legs as a weapon, when he gets an opportunity. He is quick and with that size, he will also truck defensive backs.
October 25Oct 25 No. As a smaller guy he already had excellent running ability for a QB, add the bulk and make him hard to bring down when you do catch him and hard to bring down in the pocket if you get to him. There is a lot to like there. If he can be anywhere close to an elite D1 passer (he seems to have those tools too) he will be one exciting player to watch.

He is already better than he was in high school. If Stein can design a specific run package for him, he'll be deadly (or whomever at this point because Stein-for all my complaints is also getting better by the week-and he may be gone in Smith's era). I believe Jr. is going to be better than his dad was.

He is certainly faster and more athletic than Dante Moore. Very similar to Justin Herbert, IMO.Hopefully our coaches take advantage of his full skillset, like we did with Herbert in the Rose Bowl Game, especially if he’s up to 220/230, as reported. With that frame, he can absorb hits and dish out sole punishment himself. Akili Smith, Jr.’s upside is off the charts. Edited October 26Oct 26 by OregonDucks
