Great article. Here's some more Tech trivia. I believe they're the only school to have killed their own mascot in the middle of a game. In a 1994 game their black quarter horse named Double T threw his masked rider and ran towards the tunnel. When he hit the pavement he slipped and slammed into the wall breaking his neck. To this day, I think the team still touches his saddle on their way onto the field.

Mike Ostrom has written many great guest articles for us over the years, and this one is a dandy that I am sure you will all learn quite a bit from. To receive some insight from Verone McKinley III's father who played for Texas Tech back in the 90s is something special.
