NCAA voted Friday to allow advertisements on college sports uniforms opened a new revenue stream for athletic departments, as schools look to generate tens of millions of dollars to cover the rising costs of paying student athletes.

Starting Aug 1., a few square inches on uniforms across Division I college sports, from football and basketball to baseball and volleyball, will be fair game for ads.

I've got mixed feelings about this. I'd be ok with something like a shoulder patch, very minimal. But if they start trotting out players that look like Nascar drivers then 🤮

Nike, Addidas and other apparel companies are not happy over the possibility of their logo exclusivity being challenged.

As much as I can recall yesteryear, I enjoyed those study dates, which occasionally, but not often enough 🤬 , turned into biology labs. 😇

As I read elsewhere, remember the 1995 Rose Bowl when Big Ten Champs Penn State refused to wear the Big Ten patch, and refused to wear the Rose Bowl patch? Apparently thought it messed up the tradition of their all-whites. It was controversial at the time. In subsequent years they relented.

Now maybe they'll add a patch for Habbersett scrapple?

Disgruntled Troy fans, wearing their prophylactic raincoats in anticipation of foul Indianapolis weather leaving Lucas Oil Stadium, just saw Tommy sheath his sword for the last time.
