4-0 Ducks after the first inning! Holy crap...what a difference a pitcher makes, as yesterday--the Michigan State pitcher was simply stunning. Today's starter has an ERA at nearly 6.00, and there is a reason as Oregon is beating him immediately. Our Beloved Ducks have more hits in the first inning today, than the entire game yesterday, and it gives Clarke some breathing room. Mason Neville walked, and the Dominic Hellman hit a double, so we have runners on second and third...in only two batters! Drew Smith then hits a line drive between the outfielders to score Neville,...and then Smith steals second base! Anson Aroz hits a sacrifice fly to score Hellman, and later Smith steals third base. Maddox Molony walks, and Burke-Lee Mabeus hits a slow dribbler in the infield that takes too much time for the MSU third baseman to scoop it up and fire to 1st Base in time. Meanwhile...Drew Smith scores from third while this happens. Then Ryan Cooney nails a pitch that would have gone into the right field corner, but it hit the first-base ump and rolled into the outfield. No matter as Molony scored regardless. What a fantastic start!

2026 Recruitment, Announcements, Interviews, Etc. (4)
Jon Joseph replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes. $10M a year man, Lincoln Riley, cannot recruit, so SC hired a football GM, Chad Bowden from Notre Dame, at a cost of $1M a year. So far, Troy has seen an excellent return on the Bowden investment. Bowden's system has invigorated recruiting. With the help of AD Jen Cohen, Bowden has aligned SC's NIL collective. Since Bowden's arrival, recruiting is looking more like the Pete Carroll days than the Clay Helton days. It's early yet, but USC's 2026 class is ranked No. 1 in the country, including a QB flipped from OBD and a CB signed Friday who was down to SC and OBD. I don't believe the improvement in recruiting is a mirage, a flash in the pan. An SC with its Sierra together will be in play for the athletes Oregon has brought in from California and elsewhere. SC has been a CFB power whenever it put the right people in the right spots. I'm not impressed by Riley as an HC, but given the talent to work with, the SC coaching staff is solid, including the new S&C coach SC just hired. SC was 1-5 in one-possession games in 2024, including games vs. Penn State and Notre Dame, where self-inflicted wounds led to the Ls. And Troy's scheduling savvy has improved. It still has the Domers OOC, but Ole Miss and SC canceled their H+H series that would have seen the Trojans opening against the Rebels in LA on 8/30/25. Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and USC are the five B1G teams that have and will continue to have Blue Chip Rosters. "Sleeping Giant' is overused in CFB, but not in the case of Southern Cal. SC will be 4-0 when it plays at Illinois in Week 5 and has the next Saturday off before Michigan comes to LA in Week 7. OK, JJ, are you happy now? No. -

Has Faded Glory hired a new recruiting guru? Riley has proved nothing for multiple years... Hard to believe he suddenly has found sparkling in a (sun block) bottle... -

I think your missing one player from this list. Freshman guard J.J. Frakes stands 6'5 and weighs 190 lbs. Unless I've missed something, he will be playing for the Ducks this upcoming season. -

Very uncharacteristic game for the Ducks, had the bases loaded in the 6th, no outs, couldn't score.

Agree that Sabrina’s team was loaded, in part because she made them all better players.

No doubt Sabrina is the GOAT, Husky fans tried to say it was Plum, who had the all-time scoring record before Clark. Sabrina could have skipped going for triple doubles and led in scoring, but the 3 D translates into more of a team player, and her team was loaded, the best Duck team ever.

Michigan State Pitcher Beats Ducks, 2-0
Charles Fischer replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yep, on a usual day, giving up one earned run, and one unearned run due to a fielding error would not be a losing effort—with this offense against most pitchers. -

Very true. Is this L worse than losing at home to Portland? No. Grinsell pitched a great game, and I sure didn't understand the line-up change, has Waz heard, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Very good chance that Duck's 2 and 3 pitchers are better than State's 2 and 3 pitchers, or they wouldn't be in 10th place.
