  2. I've got more information about pitchers I did not have room to cover in the article, as we have two pitchers from in-state who redshirted last year. Blake Crawford (West Linn) allowed only two runs in 51 innings pitched in 2024? Whew! Jonah Barkoff, (Lake Oswego) had a 2.05 ERA going until his injury in his senior years. Was listed as the No. 1 LHP for the state before the injury... As I said in the article...Waz is throwing mud-at-the-wall to see who can pitch at this level, and we have another small-college pitcher join the Ducks in Ryder Edwards, (George Fox) who had a 2.29 ERA at that level. Josh Hollis We have another freshman in Josh Hollis, who was listed as the 25th best incoming RH pitcher in the nation and has some good genetics. His brother plays at Cal, and his father played at Long Beach State.
  3. Please see my article about all the pitching additions..... I just received the game notes this afternoon, and they have not listed starting pitchers. But they did confirm many of my picks in the article as starters in Burke-Lee Mabeus at catcher, Ryan Cooney at second, Maddox Molony at shortstop, Drew Smith at third and now let's look at some of the surprises. Gabe Miranda began at TCU... At Designated Hitter...they list Hellman again, and not a starter at first base? Instead they list a transfer Gabe Miranda from Northern Kentucky, who hit .338 (Hellman hit .326) blasted a dozen HRs to Hellman's 13 dingers. Miranda is a stout fellow at 6'3" and 230 pounds, but he stole 11 bases, so he's got some speed. Interesting to watch! At left field they list Jax Gimenez, who is fast, and did some at-bats and pinch-running last year. (.231) In center field they list Jack Brooks, (.162) or the transfer speedster I referred to in the article, Elijah Cook. (.345, 15 HRs and Rawlings Gold Glove) At right field they have listed the guy who ate up the West Coast League last summer, Josh Schleichardt, or stud freshman Angel Laya at 6'3", & 206 who turned down a big MLB contract to play in Eugene. (.326) He was listed as the No. 12 player out of the top-100 ranked by Perfect Game.

  6. Pitching....Pitching has to be better up and down the roster if the Ducks want to get Omaha. The offense has been there, but the pitching has always been a major issue with very few reliable options both in the rotation and the bullpen.

  9. OBD, schedule 'B1G winners?' Author Caden Handwork did not do his homework. Scheduling matters in college football. And in 2026, the B1G has handed Oregon the short end of the B1G scheduling stick. If the author paid any attention to where and when the games will be played in 2026, the quality of the opponents'coaches and players, especially at the vital QB position, and believes OBD is a B1G scheduling 'Winner,' he deserves an 'F' in Sports Journalism and Reading Comprehension. There is nothing easy about this schedule. Nothing. Husker CornerPFF rankings suggest Nebraska quietly nailed its quarterb...Advanced metrics paint a far brighter picture of Nebraska’s quarterback situation. This season, Oregon will play three of Pro Football Focus's highest-ranked transfer QBs. Plus some damn good QBs returning in 2026. Week 2 - Oklahoma State - No. 4 Drew Mestermaker - Transferring in from North Texas, where he led the nation with 4,379 yards passing, 34 TDs. Game high of 608 yards versus Charlotte. His leading receiver, Wyatt Young, with 1264 receiving yards and 10 TDs, and 15 other Mean Green players, are joining Drew and new Cowboys coach Eric Morris. Week 7 - Nebraska - No. 3 Anthony Colandrea - Transferring in from UNLV, where he was the Mountain West Player of the Year. Week 8 - At Illinois - No. 6 Katin Houser (no hoser is Houser 😁) - Transferring in from East Carolina. Houser led the Pirates to a 9-3 record in 2025. Not on the schedule in 2026, but B1G pickups nonetheless are: No. 7 Rocco Becht, transferring from Iowa State to Penn State; and my personal favorite for some reason, Colton Joseph, transferring from Old Dominion, where he was the Sun Belt Conference Offense Player of the Year, to Wisconsin. Other QBs of note on OBD's 2026 schedule. Week 1 - Boise State's Maddux Madsen, injured part of last season, still led Boise to a Mountain West title. Week 4 - Jaden Maiava returns to QB USC in 2026. In 2025, Maiava threw for 3711 yards, 24 TDs, and 10 interceptions, with a QB rating of 89.9. Week 6 - Nico Iamaleava, who led Tennessee to the PO in 2024, had a good 2025 playing for a bad UCLA football team. The season highlight for Nico was his accounting for five TDs in the Bruins upset win over Penn State. In 2026, Nico will be playing for the new Bruins coach, Bob Chesney. In the 1st round of last season's PO, OBD fans learned up close and personal that Chesney's teams do not quit. Like Curt Cignetti did when he took the Indiana job in 2024, Chesney is bringing James Madison players with him; ten of the 44 new players on UCLA's 2026 roster are transfers from JMU. Week 9 - Northwestern QB Aiden Chiles, a transfer from Michigan State, visits Eugene, along with the new Northwestern OC Chip Kelly and QB coach Jerry Neuheisel. Week 11 - OBD travels to Columbus to face Heisman finalist, QB Julian Sayin, who will be throwing to some 'pretty good' WRs, including Jeremiah Smith. Week 12 - Michigan visits Autzen Stadium with wunderkind QB Bryce Underwood leading the Wolverines. Underwood will be playing for future Hall of Fame coach Kyle Whittingham and new OC Jason Beck, instead of his former dysfunctional coach and his staff. Week 13 - Sees OBD returning to the Eastern time zone to play Michigan State under new coach Pat Fitzgerald. In three weeks, OBD will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to play the Buckeyes, back to Eugene to play the Wolverines, and then to East Lansing, Michigan, to play the Spartans. WHEW! Spartan QB Alessio Milivojevic (good luck getting the last name to fit on the back of the jersey 🤪) took the starting spot from Aiden Chiles and, in limited starts, he threw for 1267 yards and 10 TDs, with three interceptions. WEEK 14 - Washington in Autzen led by the 'he ran all the way home just to say he's sorry', QB Demond Williams, Junior. Williams is an athletic and elusive QB for what will be a pumped-up Husky team that Oregon plays in its eighth straight game versus B1G competition without a break. WHEW! Like the 2024 season, Oregon is the only Big Ten team in 2026 to play eight straight games against Power 4 competition without a break and with brutal travel in November. If Handwork has reached puberty and cleared the sixth grade, he should Go to His Room! No victuals!
  10. It makes sense to me. Everyone in media saying this would never happen in the pre-NIL days completely ignoring it did happen many times in the pre-NIL days (Manning(s), Luck, Herbert, Mariota, Leinhart off the top of my head)

  12. The judge and Alabama booster who granted a temporary injunction on behalf of a player who received money playing pro basketball finally recused himself. This came after Greg Sankey called out Alabama for playing the once-pro and supporting his eligibility. The replacement state Judge, not a lowe case so-called judge, negated the temporary restraining order and refused to allow the player to compete before a final adjudication of the case. In Alabama, all members of the judiciary are elected. Good luck to the Judge who made the proper ruling. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/alabama-charles-bediako-denied-injunction-ncaa-eligibility/?ftag=SNL-04-10aaa0b&ET_CID=524125&ET_RID=52482716 Saturday BlitzThe NCAA getting a win over Charles Bediako is a major st...The biggest story in sports over the past month has been Charles Bediako's return to college basketball. 13. Keep in mind that winning the Big-10 is going to be a task because UCLA returned a great team, (all healthy for once) and got some portal transfers that were among the best available out there. The Bruins have been preseason ranked at No. 2 in one poll, and No. 1 in the nation in another. For once it is not an ACC or SEC team at the top? The West Coast teams are adding a ton to our new conference, and the only teams in the B1G ranked preseason are UCLA and Oregon. (They tied for the conference championship last year) But if some great pitchers emerge from all that was brought in....and with Waz throwing mud-on-the-wall with 23 pitchers...we will find some and make a run for the championship!
  14. High praise for Tank. Oregon 5-Star EDGE Tank Jones draws 1st-round NFL comparison
  15. It is; however, these guys played a lot more snaps than other who have left and had a greater impact.
  16. I am actually quite excited for this team. I think their title chances are legit for both the B1G and world series.
  17. Phew! There is so much that makes you excited about this team. There is this saying that says "Building a baseball team is like building a house. You look for the best architects, the best builders - and then you let them do their jobs. But, The way a team plays as a whole determines its success." Here’s to great success of a talented team playing together as a whole all the way to the College World Series! Go Ducks!

  19. While the Ducks lost some great players to graduation and the MLB Draft, they return the nucleus of a great team, and loaded up on a ton of very talented portal transfers and freshmen that will bring great excitement to PK Park once again for the 2026 season. 20. Oregon123, Great point about Nasir Wyatt. He is really fast and quick. He is going to make an impact! He did so during the Orange and Peach Bowls. He is a special young man and player. Right! Stay hungry and don't become discouraged! VR, KCDuck1
  21. Goes without saying doesn't it?
  22. Ducks have great QB, great receivers including TEs and RBs, great DBs, awesome D line and some real athletes to help out at edge. I mean this is serious college level talent. If any other team had this much fire power, I would not pick the Ducks to beat them in a playoff game. The other 'pieces' need to fill in and not be liabilities of course. I hope they do it because they will lose a lot of good players at the end of next season to the NFL or the portal.
  23. I wish both of them played more this past season. I am glad both are still in the program. I think Nasir Wyatt is going to make an impact. The D linemen who left were probably better than the D linemen who came in the portal, but the recruits really look good. They need to get snaps so they stay hungry and don't get discouraged.
  24. I am more interested to see what role they get on their new teams next season. And then of course, what kind of an impact they have. The track record of those leaving the Ducks is very, very low. There were a few QBs who shined in the SEC, but other than that, not too much. If memory serves me: Dante Dowdell, Lake Seastrunk, the OT who went to BYU were stars. And I am not counting the ones who left right away like the QB who went to Cal and the RB who also went to Cal a few years back or the WR who went to Florida. Tyler Schuck had a good year at Tech. I am also not counting the ones who went to 'junior varsity' programs like Nevada, Eastern Kentucky, Western Kentucky or "Southeast Idaho Community Tech".
  25. Charles, Athlon Sports is one of the many sites you referred to. I don't recall any 'expert' picking Indiana to win it all last season. Last season, Indiana's combined roster ranking was the 72nd-best combined roster in CFB. A 'Red Chip Roster' if you will. And in the preseason, Indiana was ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll. This season, the Hoosiers have the 8th-best roster. I imagine and hope that Dan Lanning is telling the team to avoid all of the preseason champ chatter. Last season, a bunch of predicted champs turned out to be chumps. Beat Boise! https://athlonsports.com/college-football/oregon-ducks-2026-national-championship-prediction-dante-moore

  27. I think Dante Moore would have out performed either of the 2 QBs in the super bowl this year. To me the game was awful.
  28. I think he is a wise man who has received wise counsel from his support group. I think he is more likely to fulfill his goals this way. Also a nice role model alternative for the NIL era
