Dillon Gabriel Named Starter For The Browns.
Another Oregon QB getting their shot to start! I'm quite excited for this, although I wish it was for any other team in the NFL. The Browns have a long history with being a terrible place to be a QB but if anyone can come in and shine it's Dillon. It's going to be a tough go of it with Cleveland's offensive line but with Gabriel's quick release and elusiveness that's as good a shot as the Browns have had in a long time. The saving grace is the Browns D can keep them in the game as long as DG can avoid turnovers and make some plays. Part of me wants to see him ball out and crush it. The other part of me wants him to play just good enough to get traded to a team where he can actually shine. https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/news/dillon-gabriel-prepared-for-his-moment-to-start-at-quarterback-team-coverage

Ducks vs Them, Penn State
While I would agree that this edition didn't have the impact of some of the previous ones (think Colorado in 2023, Ohio St @ Autzen and Michigan last year), there was a quiet determination for most of it. It matched the 'thousand cuts' theme of wearing Penn State down over four quarters, showing the team's preparation and how the coaches create that buy in. Slow and steady, until the explosion in OT. Then it slowed down again with what I consider one of the best brief scenes of the entire series: Dierre Hill embracing Kenyon Barner after the game as the torch is passed from one great Duck to the next. Not every Ducks vs Them needs the fireworks that Happy Valley used to try and intimidate OBD as they stood waiting to take the field. The quiet determination on this video was a reflection of what we all saw in Dante's face during one of the best victories I can recall in my almost 40 years as a Duck fan.

As my wife and I were entering the stadium we experienced the happenings that were taking place at the 4:20 mark of the video. There was a lot of congestion. Hundreds of people came to a complete stop and they were screaming and booing. We saw that the area was closed off by curtains and we were wondering how in the hell we were supposed to get to the upper deck. Then, everything cleared out and we walked up to our seats. It all makes sense after watching the video. The Ducks were likely coming off the field from warm-ups and headed to their locker room.

Oregon Football: The Bye Week Blues
Fun article. I think Mario goes down this week at FSU. He's risen to #2 in the country on the back of a 27-24 home win over 2-2 Notre Dame. Seems like the perfect set up for Mario's yearly Chevy Chase stumble routine.

Ducks vs Them, Penn State
One of the things I got from the video was the team breaking down the thousand cuts mantra by position group. DBs calling each incomplete pass a cut, offense calling each first down a cut. We saw how he prepared the entire team to focus on winning the small battles throughout the game one well executed assignment at a time. He knew PSU was too good to be taken down at home by a few big plays. The game was tied 3-3 at half and yet OBD was clearly winning the individual battles throughout the half. Lanning kept his players focused on their own responsibilities and kept them from being distracted by 111.000 screaming fans. Before the game, the national consensus was that PSU was going to win but they were wrong. I feel the video gave us a peak behind the curtain as to why and that's good enough for me.

Sources: Big Ten Mulling $2B Private Capital Deal
Thank you for that explanation Jon. So private equity will own a percentage of the brands merchandising? They'll have say so over which brand plays on a certain platform or timeslots? If Ohio State is deemed more valuable than Northwestern, does that mean Ohio State will be moved into more primetime matchups while Northwestern plays a MAC school? Seems like a slippery slope. What happens if the investors start interjecting and forcing Oregon, Ohio State, and Michigan into bigger matchups while Purdue, Wisconsin, and Minnesota get easier opponents?

A $40 billion valuation. $2 billion for 5% which reverts to the conference in 2047. The conference retains management of its own affairs. How does a 5% owner of a to-be-formed Big Ten Enterprises have the power to run and ruin the conference now or in the future? It doesn't. The goal is to keep the conference together and not have to look at partnerships with teams from other conferences to raise the operating cash to compete for championships. To have the money on hand to avoid draconian cuts to athletic departments and non-revenue sports. I, too, have worked with private equity businesses. I'm certain Tony Petitti has worked with private equity. They have their valuation experts, and so does the Big Ten. This has been a protracted negotiation. Petitti and his advisers did not fall off the last pumpkin wagon coming through town. They are not going to give control and the future of the conference away. How else do the critics of the proposed transaction plan on raising additional operating funds? The choice is the same choice every business enterprise in growth mode faces: incur debt or sell a slice of equity. The sports inventory has already been leveraged, and the Big Ten has secured the best return of all the competing conferences. The predicate, as Mike West noted above, that many people refuse to recognize: college athletics is big business. The B1G is the biggest in the industry. IMO, selling a small slice of equity for a fixed time is much more favorable than incurring long-term debt, and the goal of holding the conference together is worthwhile. A goal a conference commissioner should see as Job One.

You are right. I have been overly critical. Maybe they will put together some more footage for a post-season documentary if we win it all.

Ducks vs Them, Penn State
You never know what parameters are handed down to the editors of these videos. If we have to play these guys again we don’t need to hand them fuel, and matches, to light a fire. Personally, I thought it was solid content. It provides an inside look at the prep for the game. Most fans do not have access to practice, or meetings. DL stated in meeting, we will outrush this team when showing last years stats…great content. Standing in tunnel…Crowd…WE ARE…DL responds…we are about to get our butt kicked is what they are about to say…love DL. Intro music could have been better, but no additional theatrics really needed. They showed the pure raw emotions from players, and coaches after a hard fought battle. That is the main reason football is such a great game to play, and watch.

Ducks vs Them, Penn State
I strongly disagree. I think they should either put in a good product or no product at all. I expect shows, productions, and teams to improve each year. That Team Out West, narrated by Tyrell Burrell, was pretty solid, and I think our weekly editions should meet that standard. At the very least. Like I said, it was just highlights. The target audience has already watched the highlights five times. There was little to no exclusive behind the scenes footage. I would not give any Emmys to this year's edition.
