Washington Waddler replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
For the past three games, “best shots” is correct. Except for the USC series, the team has not faced opponents who have ‘a little something else’ at stake when they face us. The Buckeyes - no matter the sport - want to put us in ‘our place’, while Portland was the first experience this season playing an in-house opponent with upset intentions - like the softball loss to the Beavers. As Wasikowski said, we made mistakes against the Pilots, but it wasn’t for a lack of effort, it was a lack of execution. While it’s no excuse, I try to bear in mind that of our 18 member pitching staff, 8 are freshmen. Mark is not soft pedaling, but neither is he hammering. I agree with his damage control approach of putting this behind us, and getting back to the practice field. At this moment, it’s just time for encouragement. -

The House Settlement Hearings Begin On Monday, April 7, 2025

Thanks JJ for covering this. We can only wait to see what happens. One thing for sure, college sports will never be the same. I often feel that the marginal or walk-on player in all sports provides the "heart and soul" for each team. These kids often work the hardest every practice. They bring energy pushing the starters. (I was one of those players, Mr. Inspirational) It will be sad if we lose those kids due to schollie limits. For sure some sports will be dropped or made club sports. (Is PSU seriously considering dropping bball, or was that an April fools prank) Oregon hockey has little chance to become school sponsored. Beach volleyball? Nope. Well, 1 year at a time. Is it August yet? -

Here's the stats for Jadrian Tracey 2023-2024 games played 36 games started 22 total minutes 975 per game 27 field goal 42% 3 point 36% free throws 78% points per game 7.6 total rebounds 129 total assists 64 2024-2025 games played 35 games started 16 total minutes 740 per game 21 field goal 48% 3 point 34% free throws 69% points per game 6.9 total rebounds 97 total assists 58 A few weeks ago, Tracey said he was coming back. I wonder what happened for him to change his mind. With the NIL, its becoming more difficult for coaches to keep players in the program. If Bittle, Evans and Shelstad stay, Coach Altman will be able to build around his core group of players.

Thank you, Mr. Editor, for turning my scribbling rags into a prom-worthy gown. Compare OBD's 2025 schedule with Wisconsin's, and it's easy to see that the Battle for the B1G in 2025 is a far more challenging task for the Badgers. The opener vs. Miami (OH) is not a MAC walkover. And to the difficulty of the conference schedule, why not add on a trip to Tuscaloosa to play the Tide? One day, if a game against the SEC is on the schedule of every B1G team, playing an SEC team out of conference makes sense. But this will not happen unless the SEC and the B1G are both guaranteed four teams in the playoff field. In the meantime, I'm fine with OBD playing an SEC opponent in the postseason and not before. Brace yourselves for 2027. The Ducks have but six home games, play Baylor in Waco, are on the road vs. Michigan, Nebraska, and UWho, and play Ohio State and Penn State in Eugene. WOW! There are serendipitous moments when writing these articles, none more sublime than learning that mob boss, Tony Soprano, went to school in Jersey. CAGE THE BOBCATS! -
I’d really guess in this case the kid was a senior with one more year of eligibility left who wants more playing time. His production actually declined from his junior year which isn’t a good trend if you want to go out with a bang. A guard shooting under 70% from the free throw line his senior year is not a great lagging indicator imo. Bittle did exactly what he should do, but in the universe where we have NIL I’ll be very surprised if he’s not back.
-
Fascinating. I saw Jabba's post and thought, "yeah, I agree with this", then I read, Geotech's, and it made a lot of sense. As transfer portal enthusiast, Issac Newton said, "For every transfer portal out, there's an equal transfer portal in". Issac's team, the Neutrons, never made the tourney. I don't think Tracey is a huge loss by himself, but I don't know if Pryor will equal his production, and if OBD have to give Bittle a lot of NIL to stay, and Shelstad & Evans, that cuts into the amount left to entice new players. I hope we haven't heard anything from Shelstad because it goes without saying that he's staying.
-
Not ideal. He was a good role player and knew the program. You need those kind of guys on your roster. Not sure what is happening, but this is getting scary. Shelstad hasn’t said anything other than he is registered for spring classes. There has been nothing from Evans. Bittle is maybe 50/50. Oregon has 1 HS commitment from Frakes and 1 portal commitment from Pryor. Pryor has upside, but it’s not like his stats jump off the screen. He averaged 3.2 points last year and shot 18% from three. Frakes looks like an athletic freak, but how well can he shoot the ball? Is he more like Rigsby and can shoot it or is he more like the freshman version of CJ Walker?

I mean, nothing against the kid, but a senior that averaged 6.9 points and 2.8 rebounds off the bench hitting the portal isn’t exactly a red alert or this teams biggest issue imo. We need a serious infusion of offensive firepower.
