Pick Your All-American Which of These Would You Want Most to be a Duck?
30Duck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I definitely like this and give me the Edge from USC(e), Stewart. it was very satisfying to not see the SEC dominating the Draft, after the B1G has won the Natty two years in a row, and the SEC wasn't even in either game. -
I'd love to see Caleb Downs at safety along with Thieneman. That's a heavy dose of SEC OL guys along with Fano from Utah. Possible sneaky good opening game when the Utes play UCLA in Pasadena. TE from Vandy? A&M guys are always here, and the Aggies lose four games every season. I'm not sure that Klubnik is the best QB in South Carolina. LaNorris Sellers at USC(e) is a baller and took down the Tigers and Klubnik in Clemson last season. In Clemson's opener vs. LSU, LSU QB Nussmeir could outplay Klubnik. But can Kelly win an opening game? Where was Clemson DL Woods last season? The Clemson D gave up a lot of big plays. Clemson could go 10-2 and win the ACC with bookend SEC losses. Including Special teams, 12 players from the SEC and 6 from the B1G are on the list. The B1G was not dominated by the SEC in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft and more than acquitted itself vs. the SEC in the postseason. I think there are players on the Georgia team that Kirby would not trade for the Texas and the A&M guys. Thanks for the post. OK, please pass me a Dixie Cup.

Oregon vs. Penn State: White Out!
DrJacksPlaidPants replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
They have three cream puffs to start the season and they only travel to the West Coast one time to play UCLA. However, they have Iowa and Ohio State back to back on the road. If they can get through their schedule with one loss they will be a serious contender. -
I'm sure any of these players would make a great Duck. My first thought was our old buddy, Jeremiah Smith. But would he help the most? New Recruiting Strategy Explains Football Recruiting for 2026?
GeotechDuck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I don't usually worry to much about missing on guys here and there. However, there has been a clear shift in strategy over the past 4 months, with Oregon losing 4 and 5* commits and consistently missing on high end prospects. This is becoming a trend and is very concerning. As David pointed out above and I agree with, it is challenging to get recruits to Eugene. But Oregon had built an advantage in two areas...brand and money. Oregon had the funds to compete with the big boys in the NIL game, and now they are going to pull back? I think that is a massive mistake. Losing out of Greene and Cantwell is huge and extremely disappointing. If you have money to spend on recruiting, those are the two guys you really needed. You can try and live off portal talent for OL play, but I am not sure that will get you to the promised land. Here is an excellent article posted by Smith 72 on why consistently, talent, and experience playing in a system with the same teammates for several years is so critical to the success of OLs. -

Instead of Gus and He Shouldn't Open His Klatt, Noah Eagle and Todd Blackledge will be on the call. In 1982, Blackledge QB'd PSU to a 27-23 win over a Georgia team with Herschel Walker at RB and a National Championship for the Nits and Joe Paterno. I imagine Todd's impartiality will be tested. -
New Recruiting Strategy Explains Football Recruiting for 2026?
David Marsh replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Absolutely. And Lanning and Co have pulled the best out of the portal repeatedly. There aren't many quality linemen who enter the portal but Oregon has taken the lion's share of them since the portal era started. Getting high schoolers to Oregon is always going to be difficult. We lose to distance, mom, and the girlfriend far more often than we win. So we gotta use the portal. Lanning has shown that he can take a transfer player and elevate their draft stock. Nix is case and point. He went from undrafted to a first round pick. Gabriel went from probably undrafted to a 3rd round pick. With his height disadvantage! Come to Oregon and get elevated and further developed. -

Just curious why would people not watch OBD on Peacock? I’m not a fan of the service or anything, but it comes for free with my Xfinity internet, and would cost $8 for a month if I didn’t get it for free. To me, seeing a Duck game or two for $8 is less than a trip to Starbucks…so I’m genuinely curious why no Peacock? -
New Recruiting Strategy Explains Football Recruiting for 2026?
Charles Fischer replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Below is another take that makes sense considering Oregon has a Blue-Chip roster that is primarily young... ----------------------------------------------------------------- Quote:..."shift their NIL focus from paying for high school prospects large sums of money but instead spending large chunks of their money to keeping its current talent on roster beyond the current season, and then hitting the transfer portal" That's not a viable long term plan. If you don't keep bringing in high level talent, 2-3 years later there aren't enough guys left worth paying that big money. Which makes me think this is a short or medium term strategy, reacting to an unbalanced roster. Unbalanced rosters aren't the worst thing. Michigan loaded up on older guys to win in 2023. tOSU wasn't that different in 2024. This could be us preparing for something similar in 2026. ---------------------------------------------------------------- This could be an "Oregon" strategy for now? It makes sense to tailor your planning to your roster, what you have in NIL funding, and where you believe legislation is going? -

I dropped the Bird's streaming service. An OBD game on Peacock will not be against one of the better teams in the B1G, and a 60-minute version of the game will be shown on BTN on Sunday or Monday.
