  2. I've not given pundits, "experts" much validity since Charles started 'Fishduck.com'. I used to think Herbstreit knew his stuff. But learning about Chip's offense from this site made me realize that KH had no clue what the Ducks were doing! I've learned so much from all the contributions here that it's obvious that the "experts" are merely repeating popular talking points. They are still stuck in the '80's for football success. Only the SEC and a few "Bluebloods" can win it all. Now, with NIL, the portal, and all athletes getting paid, 'above board', the old school elites no longer have an advantage. They can no longer store up blue-chip players and hold onto deep rosters. Now you can actually play at Cincinnati, or Vanderbilt, etc, get exposure AND make $$$. Preseason rankings based on last year are now invalid because every year is now a new roster. E.g. how many teams are starting a new transfer QB! Anyway, I laugh at preseason polls. But I love my OBD community!
  3. TBH, my son lived in Vegas for more 10 years... During that span, I hit the spotrs to bet college football ball exactly once. In the week before the 2010 season began, i bet $20 on Oregon to go 12-0. My lack of faith cost me a bundle, as long 20 to 1 odds... i had enough spare cash to put down $150 or more, but chickened out. Guess I'm not a gambler, eh?
  4. I can't remember that last time that I've seen a team drop from #2 to #28 inside of 9 days.
  5. Today
  6. Still beats MANDRAKE! Of course, some folks would say Benny and the Tree beat that uh, bobblehead-nation...
  7. Aw, Charles, you shouldn't have... but I snickered!
  8. How much did the internet scuttlebutt suggest Uncle Phil paid Franklin to throw the game? You know some idiots believe that shite!
  9. LOL. There are Penn State fans asking the same thing about Coach Franklin.
  10. LOL. I thought UCLA went up to the student section before the game and asked if anyone (all 10 of them) wanted to call plays for them today. This is the only dude who raised his hand.
  11. Don’t forget to add Mike Riley and Oregon State’s HC names to the list. LOL.
  12. If he did, then the spy was a double agent.
  13. Through the first 4 games, UCLA scored 57 points, total (14.3 PPG). Against Penn State, UCLA scored 42 points.
  14. I watched Franklin's post game and they did put a spy on him. But... Either the spy wiffed their tackled on Nico or Nico caught them on a play they went man and didn't have a spy. I don't know how actually true that is or isn't but that's what Franklin said. Penn State Washington without a stating linebacker who was really one of the primary communicators. However, Moore ran for some important yards and first downs against a full strength Penn State defense. So their defense has problems.
  15. I'm not sure Day was glad to see him go in that sense. From a bunch of sources I have read/listened to was really the Day and Knowles had run their course. Day had become more of a micro manger and Knowles lost some of his autonomy. Warranted or not... That sort of thing gets old fast. So we'll see what happens at Penn State. Personally, I'm not sure he is the best DC in college football but the media loves saying it and Knowles is getting paid like the best DC so he better have answers.
  16. Equity with an expira Cost of the transaction is an important consideration. There are other “costs” that need to be considered. One example is the non-profit status of Athletic Conferences, and Athletic Departments that is already under scrutiny. A multi-billion dollar transaction is quite visible, and will be opposed by people outside of the conference. The tax exempt status of college athletics departments is hitched to the idea that the main mission of a University is education. The commercialization of college sports with literally billions involved really muddies those waters. I am all for growth, just saying other costs are in play.
  17. I only watched the end of the game but cannot believe that Penn State let UCLA’s QB beat them with his legs. You would think that they would have put a spy on him or tried to contain him within the pocket. Knowles should have loaded the box and made UCLA beat them through the air. I was perplexed at the game plan. LOL. Penn State’s very highly compensated coaching staff got outmatched by a team with no coaching staff.
  18. C'mon...Hoosiers have no idea.... Turn up the sound!
  19. Great to see A'Mauri getting some NFL love!
  20. More love for Lanning, and I would agree that Lanning is gifted in this area...
  21. This is a BIG Oregon verbal, that many think is the best HS corner in the country...
  22. Good Gosh...our Duck is so much fun!
  23. Wow...I did NOT see this coming before the season!
  24. Landon is a GREAT analyst for Penn State, and is quite fair.
